When I think of people who have their own voice in photography, you are absolutely one of those people. I am always excited to see your new work in a way that doesn’t really happen for me with other photographers. You’re not talking about gear for gear sake, you legitimately show how it enables you to accomplish your goals; that’s what gear is actually for.

I love Mamiya. Both the RB & the RZ. I have a Pentax 67 too, and I think it's cool, but those Mamiya cameras with their close focusing and all the different lenses, the tilt shift adapter, the different size backs, peel apart backs... it's just, there's nothing else like them in film cameras. They are truly, truly special.

I love my Pentax 67 for outdoor portraits and RB67 for indoor. I need that instax back for the RB67, wish Fuji would just make a pull apart instant film again. Every time you post a new shoot, I get inspired to create something.

When I was in college, pack film was still abundant. It became a natural part of my workflow with my RB so when it went away it really threw me off. I'm glad people are coming up with more options for this!

You really should get a Baby Graflex for your sort of work. It's smaller and lighter than either the Pentax or Mamiya, you can shoot 6x9, 6x8, 6x7, 6x6 and you have a virtually unlimited number of lenses to choose from.
@linusandhiscamera

I assume it's the "Graflex Speed Graphic Baby 2" i'm seeing online - right? May have to grab one and try it out, however I don't *love* rangefinders for studio work esp since i'm so focused on perfect symmetry. Looks so sick though, thank you!

Testing shots is why peel apart backs even exist for these cameras! Tried and true workflow that just WORKS. I’m glad there’s a modern equivalent through instax. Great work

maybe back in the 70's and 80's, but not any more. its just super dumb to be using instant peel apart film for testing shots now. its super expensive, and it will never give you a accurate example of what your final image will look like on the film. Ever since the early 90's we have been using digital backs and digital cameras to get our test shots to ensure that all our settings are correct in studio. its industry standard, and has been since the 90's. peel aparts never really worked well for it, its just the best thing that we had before digital came around.

I know this might sound a little nitpicky, but I hope it actually comes across as helpful because that is all I'm intending. "Stopping down" refers to choosing a smaller aperture (higher number). It's the opposite of "opening up" which means to choose a wider aperture (smaller number). I know its unintuitive because bigger aperture means smaller numbers. Anyway, this is so cool! I wish I could shoot Instax or Polaroid with a camera like this. The limited lenses on the Instax/Polaroid cameras are just not interesting.

There's a whole plethora of leneses that you can use on the Pentax 67 just by adapting them. Several large format lenses (including the legendary Kodak Aero Ektar), other medium format camera lenses (many Contax 645, Kiev 60/80, Hasselblad ones) and a whole slew of cinema projection lenses that go way beyond the f/2.4 that the OEM lenses for Pentax go. As much as I loved the Mamiya RZ67, it had really a crap lens selection (at least for the style I like to shoot).

not much tbh. the pro SD is so much newer, since it's from the 90s, so it definitely looks less used and feels like it too, but in regards to actually using the camera, nothing has changed nor is it different enough for me to recommend you HAVE to get the pro SD over other models

I have a question. I have the 105, 55 and 75 all SMC pentax. For some reason, with the 105 and the 75, when I stop down the aperture in manual mode, it also stops down the lens. So if my lens is at 22, I can't even see what I'm trying to get in focus because it's too dark. The only lens that doesn't stop down is the 55 - I can see a bright screen at all apertures. Do you know why this happens to the 105 and 75 but not the 55? or why this is happening at all? its super annoying.
