After Christmas and New Years was over and decorations put away my husband and I would do jigsaw puzzles. When the weather was gloomy and cold we’d work on them into February. We would do five or six in that time then take a photo of them. Sadly he passed away on October 24, but i will try and carry on this tradition with our granddaughter who we raised..🇺🇸

Hi Kate I luv the new jigsaw with all the different hexagon pieces I shall enjoy making it.Does Eileen try to get in your cabin when you're down there?I often think she may like to.i thought of an idea for a jigsaw perhaps muddling up Liberty prints past and present as if they are on a wall as yours are when u are making the Quilt. That would really make your brain work. Thanks again Kate for another excellent video.take care Pauline & Brucexx

I have never met anyone who sorted their jigsaws by counting the bobbles!! Only you could do that. Kate, it’s a lovely picture and i remember childhood christmases when a jigsaws was a staple item amongst our few presents. Ahh lovely. Xx

That is a very interesting system, and it's the first time I've heard of doing a puzzle that way. It's an interesting thought. I usually use cookie sheets and divide by colors/patterns - putting the borders together first. Open to trying something new. I love seeing other ways of doing things.

How neat to do the puzzle down at the cabin. I wished I was with you puzzling. I love doing them, visiting as progress is made. I see you had your tea pot on. Thanks for sharing the experience. You probably didn't know when you designed the cabin, that the long green couch would fit in there, but it does!!

My husband loves ravensberger puzzles. He’s made some really huge ones that we frame and hang in our house. He sorts pieces by color onto trays from IKEA. (We also have a rather large stack on ones he has made but wants to keep, and he donated quite a few to a kids group in a local town.)

I love 1000 pc and larger puzzles. I started doing puzzles with my Mom at 3. I memorized the jigsaw patterns of popular puzzle manufacturers. I can put a puzzle together by just the shapes (putting it together upside down). Kate, I think your system for sorting is brilliant. I sort by borders, colors and at the very last, shapes. It is beautiful puzzle. Thank you for sharing.

Oh Kate listening to you saying “Jolly good” “oopsie daisy” plus many other sayings you frequently say take me straight back to my childhood listening to mother and grandmother telling us and each other stories, both from Britain mum was born in Stratford upon Avon. I also do edges but then lose myself in mix of colours and oners and twoers etc my family do jigsaws in a similar way as you often there is not enough room so we have containers all over the place. Mum used to get so cross cause we would start jigsaws late in a day usually Sunday, just before dinner and we couldn’t clear the table for eating and we had to eat on our laps in front of telly, quite a good plan TV in the seventies was fun family time on Sunday night😂😂😂

Our family loves to do jigsaw puzzles in the winter. We sort our pieces exactly like you do! And I, too, love the feel of the finished puzzle. The only thing we do differently, is we dump the contents of the box into the middle of the table, then starting in the center of the pile, push the pieces away from the middle so there is a big "hole" in the center. Then we sort the side pieces out and place them in the "hole" in the middle. When the entire edge is all together, the center of the puzzle is empty and all the pieces are sorted around the outside of the frame. Hope that makes sense to you! Love your videos! ❤

I expect to have one out for her entire visit.

Started collecting your puzzles when I first saw the second one… wish you’d do a repeat of the first puzzle for those of us that started later. This year hopefully I can purchase 2 so I can make one and save the other for my collection. Can hardly wait to purchase my calendars and puzzles and I’m hoping you have those gorgeous candles. I’d really love if you’d throw some more pottery, as in tea cups. Glazed white, I waited too long, five minutes and sold out. Oh this is gonna be a gorgeous puzzle, remembering your mother’s quilts, as those of us sitting on your green couch fondly remember. Can you imagine it’s another Christmas season coming up again? This is a beautiful puzzle, with the background in your colors.

Oh, I'm so sad now - seeing that this is sold out. It has that beautiful quilt you made for Agnes in it! I do edges first also, and then as I go, I sort out the different shape pieces as well. We always worked puzzles in the winter - my mum could not bear to sit and watch football (American football) during the winters, so we almost always had a large puzzle going on the kitchen table with a plastic covering over it. This brings back some nice memories. Happy 2025 Kate!

My sister and i love doing puzzles. We sort out the edge pieces and she puts that together while i juys start collecting pieces that have similiar colours and start putting them together and move them into the puzzle. Then we just haphazardly put the rest together. We just had a weekend away and finished a 275 and 500 piece. They took approx the same amount of time because the 500 was regular pieces and the 375 was really odd shaped pieces. Both lots of fun.

All my family think that I am the bonkers one as I start with the edge of the puzzle but don't do any more sorting as I love the process of working through the pieces every time I am looking for an area of the puzzle. I decide on an image and sort through looking for parts of that and then choose another and look for those pieces. For me it is the sifting that I find most calming. The rest of my family either sorts by shape or colour before they start.

Dear Kate; love this video and I absolutely love puzzles (although I do quite poorly with them, often getting impatient). I am going to try your system with the different number of bobbles; it seems doable to me. Love that cat Rita is right in the hub of things; such a darling. It's funny how the pieces keep grabbing you after you've said "that's enough for now". I also wanted to say "Thank You" for the opportunity to purchase just the items we want; I was never able to afford the boxes. So looking forward to seeing what's next. Love this puzzle!! I do many used puzzle checks near Xmas for a charity sale. I do the 'turn up' and sort into broad colours, setting the edge pieces in one other pile. I put most of the edge together and pick an area to start at. Here I would probably do the red pile first - container, jelly roll and some of the thread, then the blue - blanket and above the jelly roll, brown for Rita, basket and container and so on. When there are fewer pieces with less defined colours, I sort like your shape sorting.

Yours is in sewing, quilting, knitting, ceramics and gardening, as well as decorating, but they all have something special they do. It's always a joy to 'meet' one of them through their art. I start with the edges as well but I sort the rest by colour. I love this calming video and I love the puzzle as well! Rita is just too perfect on that pile of your Mother’s quilts.💜

No, no, excellent system . Did not realise how much this appeals to my sorting and organising. Why did I not think of a jigsaw before. 🤔.Thank you, kate . Love this.

Love jigsaw puzzles, too. I always sort pieces by color. Seeing you sort by the number of knobbies was kind of mind blowing. I am going to try that on my next puzzle😊

I am working on a jigsaw right now and may try your unusual method. I usually sort by color or object. What a beautiful picture for the puzzle. My favorites are cat puzzles. Love your videos, Kate.

I loved your series on your mum's quilts. What a special puzzle with her quilts and Agnes's quilt, such a treasure.
