My only suggestion would be a medium and short cage mech and low actuation ratio like SRAM 1:1 so give even more reliability to the transmission.

To be clear, he was saying this particular BOX 9sp drivetrain is good. Shimano 9sp doesn't have a clutch mech and sram probably doesn't either. Clutches are vital in keeping the chain on through rugged terrain and jumps. Normally it's available on 10sp and up Shimano (look for shadow+) and most high end sram stuff.

The BOX eBike setup is the best thing I've heard about derailleur drivetrains in a long, long time! Reinvent the 9 speed with wide range, that HAS to happen - it just makes so much sense. If I wasn't running a gearbox now (🙌) I would be straight on the phone to BOX people trying to get me some of that action!!! ~ Please bike gods, for the sake of the planet and people's sanity, make this happen! 🤞
@BoxComponentsOfficial5 жыл бұрын
How do you see this happening?
@RamsayMacFarlane5 жыл бұрын
@@BoxComponentsOfficial you should release Seth's setup to the public, for leg-powered bikes! A wide range cassette with 9 speed mech and shifter - strong and reliable. As long as the range is there for going up and down hills, the increased gap between gear ratios is minimal and your leg power easily overcomes this! If we could so a statistical survey of how many gears mtb riders change at any one time, I would bet there are far more multi-gear shifts and than single clicks, therefore we generally don't need such a gradual change in gears... My pinion gearbox has 12 gears with a 600% range, making each step a little wider than usual (ignoring the uniform gear ratio steps) and it's still not enough - I often shift two or three gears at a time! MTB is so dynamic! I would hope that we (the mtb public) have got over the bigger number of gears meaning it's better... Who needs 13 speed, or even 12 or 11 for that matter? 9 or 10 is plenty...
