This video might seem a little different, but it's actually kind of the same. We have been posting videos like this on our second, experimental channel and getting a great response. We decided it's less confusing to post it all here, so you get 1 to 2 videos every week. The second channel will again be used for its original purpose: Experimenting.

Seth! I've recently discovered your channels. Love the content. I've seen you install several tubeless tires, and I've always wondered why you install them dry. I came up pre tubeless tires, and was working in a bike shop when they first hit the market. The old "how to" videos from Stan's always stressed using soapy water around the bead and rim when seating the tire. That helps the tire bead pop in to place, and then shows your where you're getting leaks, as the escaping air causes the soapy water to bubble at the site of the leak. When did this technique go out of favor? Do any of you others still use the old school soapy water method?

Pipe cutter vs Hacksaw: You need to deburr both edges anyway, so that point is kinda invalid. Hacksaw is more versatile, however not as easy to get a straight cut with. Both are fine.

Those oval rings were popular in the 80’s.. I guess they are back.
@toddhedenstrom56084 жыл бұрын
The phrase about the oval chainring 'in a lower gear when in this position, and a higher gear in the other' is not true- gearing is the number of teeth on the chainring compared to the number of teeth on the rear cog. Making the chainring oval doesn't change the number of teeth on it. I'll be interested to hear what your impressions on the oval ring, but so far they don't seem to mean much- some people claim that you get more lever advantage on the big lobe, but I haven't ever noticed much.
