TOUR MY OFF-GRID GARDEN | Yurt Life Day 4 - Off Grid Shower • MY NEW OFF-GRID GARDEN... We have been working on our Yurt location, ordering Yurt platform supplies, and building our first garden. The weather is getting warmer yet still cold. When it was freezing we didn't shower more than once a week but now we need a daily shower. Here is how I do it! We also joined the local community garden group and Nicole and I each are planting a raised bed garden. Who will win team Jake or team Nicole...How should we decide who wins? Yurt platform materials arrive tomorrow! This Yurt build and Yurt life will be a journey, we hope you SUBSCRIBE and come with us! Enjoy #garden #gardening #yurt #offgrid #tinyhouse #jakemace #livingoffgrid
Nicole and I are attempting to live off the grid in British Columbia, Canada. We have 8 acres of forest property sandwiched in between the Pacific Ocean, a fresh water lake, and a stream which flows year round from the lake into the ocean. Today we build a shelter to allow us to escape the rain and have a home-base to congregate from!
For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic ( / holisticnicole ) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. More videos and BTS Clips at my VLOG channel / adventureswjakenicole

The trees are all locked together by their roots holding each other up. The only time you have to worry about a tree falling is rainstorm when the roots are water logged. The water loosens the soil. . Tree falling is a rare occurrence. Look at the tops of the trees if they are green they are alive and healthy, no worries. If a tree did fall the limbs of the other trees would catch it. The hard work will pay off ! Great work .

I truly love how this is evolving. Been 15 years on my homestead, and this is REALLY how it goes. You are living! Please, remember what’s the most important thing in life guys. The answer= you two. Please, stay together. It’s going to get very difficult, but please remember that you have one another. Cherish yourselves. You both are the best gift for you both. NOTHING ELSE should ever be more important than your unity. Hug for you both

Love the shower set up!!! I use a 50 gal. drum that sits out side and during the sunny days when it is time to retire from the day i have nice hot water, the sun is amazing for heating. R U guys going to invest in a sun oven, they R kind of cool, also Jake I use my Lodge Cooking Kettle, to make a meal in the earth. Just dig hole and hot coals and place the kettle on top and cover the sides with dirt, at the end of the day the stew is so good!!!! Great life, others need to realize we R not made to work every min. of our life, ENJOY TO THE FULLEST and DONT BE AFFAID to do a Dolly Parton hehe take the job and shove it or the boss hehe. Happy for U guys seeing life to the fullest, not behind some domn old desk!!!!

also if you are really concerned about trees falling over but you dont want to cut them down, you could bind them together with ropes so they support each other. with a big ladder and rope not a problem at all. but dont be afraid of cutting out enough space for light and orchard and garden as beautiful as that forest is.

This was an amazing experience for me. I live in Imperial Valley. Similar to the Arizona weather. I’m growing two small pomegranate trees, a small guava tree, and a small fig tree. I also have some seedling moringas in small pots that are doing great. And two small palo verde trees. I also would love to get some acres but in Arizona and plant many palo verdes and mesquite trees, also mangos, guava, avocados, and pomegranate trees. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos.

Great video you guys. Love watching your progress. We're having a strange spring here in Seattle. I've never seen this little rain, and am a retired Union carpenter so I can usuall tell what the weather is going to do. I saw a lot of chemtrails in Jan and Feb so I'm wondering if that has something to do with so little rain. I'm sure not too many are complaining, just wondering if Nature and the wildlife are doing ok. Keep up the great work, Nature is our backyard.

Best plants that produce for there might be leeks, raspberries, saskatoons, carrots, parsley, kale, peas. You can eat the pea greens too. A little plastic greenhouse and you could get lots of cherry tomatoes. But you prob know what you’re doing.

Really cool, thanks for sharing. I've been working towards a similar off-grid goal. As you said "pick away at little projects" - this is my favorite part of the whole thing. If I'm bending over too long removing weeds and start to get stiff, I'll just stop and go move my body in a completely different way - swinging pickaxe, shoveling dirt, exploring more area, or simply jog around the field. Looking forward to following your progress!

Thank you for allowing me to see and thank you for making me motivated to one day live in a place where is not to crowded . Where the first noise I hear if is a bird in the morning and not a siren 24/7 . My mind always escapes to a quiet beautiful place such as Mother Nature I can’t explain it but it makes me feel like I’m home. I hope it didn’t sounded cheesy. Thank you again to Jake and Nicole 💪🏼

Coniferous woods tend to have acid soils. Checkout with the locals how much woodash you need to neutralize. Ash is also great for the P and K but you or bean and clover types can provide the N. Hope this helps. Best wishes, greetings from Holland.

Jake would it not be a better idea to site the shower closer to the yurt and that way you have less distance to travel on clean feet plus how about making proper steps up to the door of the Yurt, as come Winter time with ice about it may well be dangerous especially for Nicole, as she is somewhat smaller than you?
