Here is a review of my 83 year old 9mm German Luger P08 that I wanted for a long time. It seems these are a must have by most gun collectors, and now I have mine! This was made by Mauser and is a numbers matching example. This is one that I won't shoot much, due to its age, so I wont have a lot of shooting range time with it, but when I do take it out, it is sure to create fantastic memories!

If you pull the toggle slightly back you can decock when pressing the trigger. If jo bend the flat spring on the side you get a very light trigger. The magazine itself is about from -41 to -43, check the pin in the center of the bottompiece.

*If I'm not mistaken Luger P-08 was made by Mauser with better quality than any other manufacturer before WWII.* *I have a favorite saying - Beautiful as a Parabellum.*

H/S, Congratulations on a great find. I've always wanted one, never could find a numbers matching one at an affordable price. Still on my bucket list.

Congratulations and I'm jealous. I'd love to see a teardown of that pistol. I got to shoot one, about 30 years ago and loved it. It's really interesting to shoot and keep a decent sight picture with the toggle linkage.

Nice find! There are three Lugers I want: An American Eagle Fat Barrel, a Krieghoff in 7,65 with 150mm barrel, and a first run Portuguese Army model. Also, if I ever win the lottery, I'd commission Lugerman to make me one of their reproductions in .357Sig... which isn't completely crazy. They already make a 10mm version, which has the same case-head, and .357Sig necks down to 9mm (essentially); so... :-D

The metal treatment aka "brown bluing". After heat treatment and oxidising (bluing) there can be color variations. Like color case hardening. Also the recoil spring may need replacement, old and worn out. Nice classic and review 👍

Nice, I have a 42 Mauser that I found feeds best with PMC, I had a lot of FTF with mine, I replaced the magazine springs with new Wolff springs and that issue went away, I had read from some Luger expert (can't remember his name, but he use to show up on the History Channel and had 100's of Lugers, I think he since died) anyway, he made the point that the action cycled so fast, that it needs stiff mag springs to ensure that round is there to be fed, in my case, he was right. Good Find, I bought mine because I knew Hitler stopped making them, so I bit the bullet so to speak and got one while I could. Very cool piece of history.

What grain do you use?

@@georgeadkins2166 Just standard 115 gr hardnose, I've tried everything, 115's, 124's even some 147's - the PMC gives me the most reliable feeding, But after replacing the springs in the magazines, I do pretty good with Remington 124's also, but it really seems to prefer the PMC stuff.

@@timothybagrowski643 thanks, I have a 1941 Mauser and it pretty much likes 115gr. Winchester white box. But I have a 1910 DMW and it's extremely finicky. I 'm looking for something that it likes all of the time.
@timothybagrowski643
@timothybagrowski643 2 жыл бұрын
@@georgeadkins2166 They can be finicky, I went through about 10 different brands and weights before finding out it mostly prefers one brand, I've been meaning to try doing some reloading doing my best to match the PMC specs, but life always seems to have other plans for me. I hope you find something the DMW likes. I did do a complete Wolff spring swap (Don't worry, I kept the originals) of all the springs, I figured 1942 was a long time ago.

Nice gun! The magazine is from 1941 or 1942 because it is pinned in the center. Mine is a 1937 and looks very similar and has a matching magazine. So now that you have one you need a P.38! :)

I LOVE LUGERS, I HAVE ONLY ONE NOW BUT AT ONE TIME YEARS AGO I HAD 3 at the same time (1915 DWM, 1940 S/42, and commercial ORIGINAL MAUSER from the 1960's). 🤔😉😁👍😂

Hello out there!! Thanks for this video. Everything I heard here, is true as far as I know. When possible take a look at this John Walter's book:"The Luger Book". Maybe it has something to tell you about this particular piece. If not, to bad. Anyway you know a lot about this artwork gun. And this exemplar is in very very good shape!!

The lug at the top behind the toggle had nothing to do with attaching the stock. The German word for safety "Gesichert" is pronounced Gay-zik-ert.
