In my honest opinion, the Lugar is the best looking gun of all time. Simply beautiful.

Its terrific finish was one major cost factor that made them back off to P-38s I think. 🤨🧐🤔
@angrymike24232 жыл бұрын
@@dongray9852 Well, the finish yes, but the machining was expensive, they were machined from a lump of steel.

Lugers... love em or hate em, they're nice to look at. I'm not the biggest Luger fan, but I do recognise their beauty.

i always wondered if there is a service or database that helped owners locate and match up stuff like mags and other misc items. imagine you buying a mag 5 years ago, and then recently find the gun that goes with it. its like winning the lotto

The late Don Hallock complied a list of thousands of Luger magazines looking to match up magazines with guns for collectors.

I've used tooling of the early 1900s era. It's impressive that they were able to make some of the Luger parts. Not saying it was impossible, but by modern tooling it would be simple. Back then you had machines dedicated to a single part or setup. Shapers were a thing as well. Effective, but quite slow.

I own a common 1918 Erfurt Luger. I love looking at the variations on the Luger. Such a sexy pistol!

Import marks are tricky. Tom, in your opinion import marks are no big deal but I 100% disagree. I do not own or would knowingly buy a collector firearm that has any sort of import marks no matter how small or well hidden. I know it is up to the individual collector but I have a real problem when sellers do not disclose import marks on firearms. I have purchased several collector firearms on gun auction sites that showed up with import marks even though I asked before bidding. I understand why they are there but it is still frustrating to me..... Thanks for the video!

Those are some of the most pristine Lugers I've ever seen.

Quite a lucky magazine find on that last gun. 👍🏻

I could never afford to own any of these and if I could the UK gun laws would never let me keep one. Saying that, it's fascinating to see all these rare items together and to learn all about them. Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

What I noticed immediately about that faked magazine (even before you mentioned it not being quite right) was the lack of the 1 or 2 above the s/n. You just showed that on the police pistol... Or were some issued with just one serialed mag..?

So the non dated lugers are "commercial" market? What is commercial market vs police etc.?
@LegacyCollectibles2 жыл бұрын
Generally, yes, the non-dated chambers are commercial guns. Police and military were generally dated.

@@LegacyCollectibleswhat if you have one with regimental markings on the front of the grip but it doesn’t have a date on top of the chamber ? Could that be a commercial arm pressed into service ?
@uprebel51502 жыл бұрын
When you bought the Luger recently did you know that it had the matching number to the magazine you bought five years earlier? Was it a surprise after the fact or a main reason you purchased it?
@marcschoenfeld2 жыл бұрын
In a double dated luger, the inside strap shows the ID of the unit { I assume a police unit } but how do we find the information as to whom this was issued to????
@LegacyCollectibles2 жыл бұрын
If you email the company we can give you the link to the website that covers the meaning of the unit markings
