Very good upgrade! I've got a pair for Adam Audio T8V from the entry level with 8" driver. Sounds great with heavy bass as well though. In a home-office studio environment with not any accoustic treatment applied works pretty well for me as a guitarmusic hobbist.

I have a set of Type 30's from HEDD Audio (the founder of HEDD was one of the founders of Adam) that are a very similar monitor design - I agree, for guitar work they're PERFECT!!!!!! My recorded guitar tones always translate perfectly, I also use them for creating Kemper Profiles (yeah, I'm one of those dudes too) that perfectly translate live 100% of the time. Good choice - enjoy your newfound monitoring bliss!

Awesome! I just want to add, that room correction software cannot fix time domain issues or standing waves. So it's always best to use acoustic treatment first (thick panels to control the bass response), and then use the room correction as a finishing touch.

I'm just a bedroom guitarist gear nerd, so my monitoring solution is either a solid state power amp into a cab, or my DT770s - for which I use oratory's harman EQ curve. Very, very worth it. Takes care of Mt. Beyer and gives them back some low end they lose from the lack of a proper seal from the pads.

Cool new speakers man! Enjoy! I am confused as to why you said you can’t play guitar or direct monitor the old way though. I just set the output settings in my I/O to SoundIDReference instead of directly out of my audio interface or open soundidreference as a plugin on the master track.

That can be done, but it means you have to monitor through the computer, which introduces latency

But to be clear, these are not my end game monitors. My first comment was before I realized these were a77h’s. I actually didn’t know these existed. I thought this video was on the a77x. @@MeTuLHeD yeah when I first got these things I was in complete disbelief due to my mixes just working. Take it to the car, it’s good. Take it to the boom box it’s great. Use my wife’s headphones, holy crap this mix is solid… i think they put a little leprechaun inside each monitor to make everything sound right. I’ve also had several monitors over the years and yes these are by far the most accurate monitors I’ve ever used. But this can’t really be the end all be all… right????

I went from computer speakers to hs50s then added Krk10.3 and then got ns10s and a single avantone. Bought 3500$ worth of gik room treatment and sonarworks4. Had to move packed up the gik and have been back to just hs50 and audio technica 50s without sonarworks and just got my first mix accepted for the urm polls. Goes to show just learn whatever monitors you have. These look dank though.

nice upgrade Jon, I'm using a set of Genelec 8020B and a presonus subwoofer in a small room EQ correction makes a big difference, did you not use the sonarworks system wide app they have as well ? that would make your correction consistent across DAW and what you're hearing i ended up using REW, and measuring my room myself , then applying an EQ corrective curve, that worked the best for me and for much cheaper, i apply it systemwide using APO Equalizer , and then within the DAW I use with either Crave EQ / Fabfilter, whichever you want

I use Studio Monitoring Headphones for all my listening, as Amps. Speakers, Room Treatment, Mics, etc. are all impractical for me. There is a new video on the Audio University Channel called "Mixing With Headphones? Watch this...? Of particular interest is the effect of Hard Panning and its effect on the Stereo Image, with it being 60 degrees for Speakers and 180 degrees for Headphones. For what it's worth, several months ago I discovered that I preferred hard panning the outputs of my Modeler on separate channel strips of my hardware DAW/Mixer, as it sounds more alive and "feels" better. YMMV

Hi Jon, I upgrade to these monitors at the end of last year from the Yanaha HS80m. Really a huge difference. However, I struggle with Sonarworks. I did measure the room correction with the Software. Using it in the software itself sounds really great. When I export and upload the file to the speakers themself it does not sound nearly the same. Definitly not as good as with the software. Do you hear any difference too? The import/export is pritty much straight forward, I do not see any way to mess that up. I am wondering if something is wrong with my speakers.

I got it sorted. I did not know that the Sonarworks setting inside the speaker also bypasses the external volume control of the speakers. Because I did not leave them exactly at 0 dB my ears got fooled due to the slight volume drop. Thanks for indirectly pointing me in the right direction ❤

I have had the Adam Audio A5Xs for over a decade. They have served me well, and I don't feel the need to upgrade my setup, except for the same reason you mention: ease of mixing the low end better. I have found that I've just gotten used to them, so my mixes end up translating to other mediums well (car, earbuds, cellphone) from just years of using them. I have thought about room correction, but then I thought I might not want to change my workflow too much for fear of having to "relearn" using my ears in a new way. Those A77Hs are killer, but quite expensive. Maybe if I move to a bigger apartment/house.... P.S. I was wondering if you have ever tried/ are interested in trying the Laney VH100R head. I would like to hear how it compares with the Ironheart (and others). I think it could be a worthy contender in your "One Song, One Amp" series. Just curious. Thanks, Jon!

I own the T7Vs and am considering switching to the A7Vs, mainly because I can directly apply my room correction from Sonarworks on them. The software occasionally frustrates me with latency and bugs. There are two issues with my T7Vs that bothers me a lot: 1. When they are on, the tweeters emit a subtle but annoying noise. 2. Sometimes, upon turning the speakers on, I hear a noise from issue 1, plus an oscillation sound at a high pitch. It's even more bothersome, but I found a solution - turning them off and on again makes it disappear. I reached out to Adam, even sending them a video demonstrating the problem, which was audible in the video as well. They advised me to contact the customer service where I purchased them and ask for replacement in warranty. Interestingly, both speakers has this 'problem.' Is this issue addressed in the new product line? This would greatly influence my decision. Thanks and cheers!

Oh boy, this “m-t-m” derived layout should never ever be laid out horizontally as this manufacturer has done here. Huge design miss by the engineer (or maybe this “look” was just pushed by a focus or marketing group? Idk..) Now you have 3 drivers causing horizontal plane phase issues at a midrange crossover point where your ears are most sensitive. Vertical t-m has consistently persisted for a reason. Might have great frequency response if your head is mounted in the perfect position and it never moves.😊 Not trying to be negative but just honest. You will notice what I mean when you move left to right and even turning your head eventually. Once you detect this comb effect, you likely won’t be able to “un-hear” it; it’s just like walking across a 4x12 cab while playing only in a more select frequency range. Better dispersion and minimal comb effect is the only acoustic property where a properly designed linear “FRFR” system can beat a real guitar cab so why they chose this design is beyond me.
