Thank you for the tutorial! They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I was never much of a fan of geode ties, until I saw yours in previous videos. The color you can get in the lines, the cold water method, the soft water look (best description I can come up with) of the colors, love your methods. Have attempted a few / been happy with most of them and received compliments on many. Going to try the reverse dye with a couple of black shirts next, the ones you did are stunning. Again, thank you for sharing your process.

As someone who theorycrafts a lot about ice dying I'd love to see a tips and tricks video from you as your techniques fly in the face of a lot of the "accepted" ideas I see and read about. I'm also curious on your ideas on dye flow as no one ever speaks to this. Your geodes, as always, are on point.

Hello and thank you for your video tutorials. I have a technical question for you. When ice dyeing 100% cotton shirts w procion dyes, does it take longer to get more vibrant colors on a thinner shirt than it does on a thicker one? I recently bought some cotton shirts and I'm not get my usual vibrant colors in my end products. Thanks!

Do you add the soda ash at the same time as the dye? Or just at the end?
@sissisquiltandbatik11 ай бұрын
Just saw your video for the very first, so beautiful both of them. What a lovely idea to scrunch them up under sinew..ideas never seams to run out of tiedyers😉 did you put soda ash with the hot water at the end? Or something else? Did you seriously “ice dye,” set the color and rinse all in about 2 hours?!?😮 How has the color held up? If it’s lasting through regular washes without fading, you might be my hero!
@corkylorenz6 ай бұрын
Yes! Lately I put a geode tied item into a plastic bag, then drop it into a bin of hot water (hot from the tap) for an hour. That seems to be sufficient for color retention.
@racheljellenik88426 ай бұрын
That’s so interesting! I tried just the misting method yesterday and the shirt looks gorgeous, it just never seemed to stop bleeding dye after a TON of rinsing so I let it sit overnight. I’m actually about to wash and dry it now so fingers crossed.

@corkylorenz5 ай бұрын
It’s made by Hanes but I can only find it locally in stores these days. In the section for undershirts. It’s packaged with a thin layer of cardboard. I’d suggest pulling the shirts out and checking the seams at the shoulders and sleeves. Lately the quality has been spotty there.
@Graciousgiraffe5 ай бұрын
The light color, ecru, is pronounced eh-crew or a-crew (with a long "a"), emphasis on the first syllable. Both are accepted pronunciation. I've always said eh-crew.
