Pretty sure he's nailed the forms to the pins from the inside, the side where its been dug out. That way he just has to knock the pins towards the pool to loosen the form away from the slab, but the nail remains inside the concrete but with the pointy tip of the nail sticking out

Good work Mike, honestly. But this is a terrible idea by the customer if any of the hoses from the skimmer or the return need to be replaced. They should have run them through corrugated piping if they planned on pouring concrete. Also, if any of the pool walls need to be replaced its going to be a headache and a large bill. Coming from a pool guy. One day in the future someone is going to be pissed. LOL But regardless your work looks great.
