Thanks for that explanation at the end. That put it all together and showed the importance of having a level freeze surface. Sometimes my freezer is full and I have trouble getting my container nice and level to freeze. Now I know how important that step is. And giving the ice cream a few minutes to thaw too. I usually put it in the microwave for 20 seconds (Creami Deluxe size container) and then run hot water around the sides for a few seconds as well. My ice cream usually comes out perfect on the first try. This was a great video to explain why these things are important to do. Thank you. 👍

If you want to avoid the bump just freeze your pints without the lid. When the lid is on the center of the pint is the last part to freeze so the only way the content has to expand at that point is up, creating that annoying lump right in the center. This might not work 100% of the times (I read some people say they still get the lump from time to time) but in my experience it's really effective to avoid that bump in the center of the pint. Thanks for sharing this with us anyways, I'm sure it will help many people know how they should use their Ninja Creamy.

No fire but the same thing happened to me. The blade would detach will working. However, ninja customer service hung up on me. I was having trouble understanding the person’s English & asked her to repeat. The 15 minute thing sounds reasonable. No one mentions how loud the thing is while working-like a train in the house. Maybe partial thawing would help.

Part of the problem can also be your frozen mix. Milk freezes HARD, and I have to check, but I thought the manual warned against using milk for this very reason. Most recipes use plenty of fat, protein or starch to make a softer mix (that oh so popular cream cheese). That block of ice plus the pile of random chunks on top of it are very tough on the blade and should be avoided.
@TechbyParker5 ай бұрын
Great tip!
@CanadaNurse4 ай бұрын
Actually if you look at the quick start guide it gives a recipe using cream and whole milk. You probably want to stay away from skim milk as this has a low fat and higher water content. The instructions warn against water and ice, as well as the Fat to Sugar ratio being too high or too low. If your base isn’t freezing solid the ratio might be too high. If your bases are crumbly after processing the ratio might be too low. Apparently if you are using canned fruit, it needs to be in a fruit juice or syrup not water!

So this just happened to me, except no fire. The rod is stuck in the down position, its defnitely stripped. They need to make the road and blade easily replaceable. I threw away the box so hopefully they still send me a replacement. I always thaw for 15 minutes and scrape any rises in the frozen base, so thats wasn't the issue. Was making my own frappacinos every day, was great for 2-3 months. I think this is a very common problem. Will call them tomorrow.

I literally have a new Creami still in the box, but I am wondering if I should return it. Given the number of people just on this channel that are reporting the same issue, this definitely sounds like a Recall is needed. Ninja needs to go back to the design stage and prevent this from occurring, especially if the magnetic attachment is wearing out within a few months. They definitely need better instructions and warning stickers. We all know there are people who don’t read manuals completely… or at all😉. I read the quick start guide and the instruction manual. It says to inspect the blade and make sure the surface is flat, but I don’t think this explains what can happen if the blade gets tilted or if the surface is humped. Before I purchased it, I watched several videos on KZbin showing them using the Creami. I only saw ONE channel that told people, to let your product thaw for 10 minutes before processing or it could void your warranty. I found no evidence of this; in fact, the Creami instructions say, “For best results, freeze base for at least 24 hours and process immediately after removing from the freezer. The unit is designed to process bases that are between 9°F and -7° F. For Canadians like me, this is -12.7°C and -21.7°C. I know from experience that accidentally leaving ice cream out for 15 minutes will make it incredibly soft. It would be interesting to see what temperature a base changes after sitting out for 10-15 minutes. The instructions also say to put the lid on the base and place it flat in the freezer. If the Lid is causing these humps to occur; which in turn is making the blade go off balance, then Ninja needs to address this. I think ultimately for the best results or if you’re having problems, you need to see what temperature your freezer is set to and what your base temperature is before using the machine and making sure it’s completely flat. This puts more effort into a product that is supposed to be easy and fast. Some other tips instead of leaving your base out to thaw are to shave down the top hump to make the top flat or run a spoon under hot water to flatten the top surface. Thank you for posting this video. I’m still on the fence about the Creami, but at least I know what the problem is and what’s causing it. 🍨🥤🍦

We’ve now had TWO Ninja Creami Deluxe machines catch on fire/smoke and burn holes into the blade. Out of an abundance of caution after receiving the first replacement, we would leave our ice cream bases out to thaw for 20-30 minutes, and always ensure our ice cream frozen goodness is level… and it still happened a second time. Thankfully, we were within the warranty for both instances. We take very cautious care with ours and are disheartened that there are so many problems. Being able to make our own sugar-free, high-protein ice cream has been amazing-my husband LOVES it. But we don’t love waiting for the replacements and are concerned how long the third Creami is going to last.
