Back in 1969-'70 I was a curb boy at Sky-Way Drive-In just up Market Street from Swensons. They were always thought of as one of our main competitors restaurant wise. Often after work and we had closed some of us Sky-Way workers would meet at Swensons for a very late nite meal and some good ice cream. Great memories---So glad that both places are still in Akron today!

I’m in Canada and I am totally blown away by Swenson’s after seeing this piece. I do wonder if they still run back and forth during the winter though?😀 Leon Bibb is an outstanding reporter and a special guy. All the best to my friends in the Buckeye state.

Burger w/ ketchup, mustard, mayo, extra cheese. An order of shrooms and a california. Swensons, or Sky-Way, are the only reasons I'd go back to Ohio.

I don’t understand why locals like this burger joint. Burgers are terrible. And overall, the food is not good. I guess it comes in handy when your drunk or high at 1am.

Swensons is horrible now. They only make burgers well done now. Totally ruined their food and not to mention they went back on their "no ketchup" on burgers rule. They now load way to much ketchup on the burgers and that also ruins the flavor of their burgers. Swensons is just another fast food restaurant.
