A rather belated reply, but this show isn't exactly fit for these kinds of cases. Everything in this is _supposed_ to be funny and for entertainment. They should honestly fit to their show's name, "Hello Counselor." Instead of giving solid helpful replies and offering them the best kind of alternative solution to their problem, they laugh it off.. I really expected highly from this show.

Yeah! ive actually experienced this too growing up lol my older brother was favoured by my grandparents because he was raised up with them until he was 5. They used to just visit me here and there since they lived far away but they would always call on his birthday and never mine. Even when they called to talk to my parents they would only ask for my brother lol. If you went to their house too all over they would have pictures of my brother and not me. One time my grandmother came to the airport and my brother didn't even go to pick her up.. it was just me and my mother. he went to the movies and i stayed to pick her up but the first thing she said to me was "where is your brother"... LITERALLY. Lol when he walks in the room its like nothing else matters. So... I can relate to this as well. It doesn't really get me emotionally anymore but when I was younger I used to wonder why they didnt love me.

Isn't just too convenient that the grandmother happens to "forget" the times when she mistreated the younger granddaughter? I really hate people who avoid questions like that. Using your age as an excuse to selectively "forget" something? The grandmother is not even that old. My own grandmother is 101 years old and although she has occasional dementia, she is still is present enough to own up if she knows she did something wrong.
@melody54636 жыл бұрын
hjncnka you have a point, but you’re missing something. You honestly don’t really know if she’s faking it or not, nor do you know her age. But other than that, I completely agree.
@Cosmos125506 жыл бұрын
The fact is she remembers what happened to the elder sister but when asked about mistreating younger she was paused for seconds, and you can clearly see the expression she had that time, and then she said i don't remember. It's a fact that people forgets how badly they have treated the other person. That girl is so young, and its literally hard for her to be treated differently. And being blamed for something she never did. She will have this impact even when she grows up. Because these kind of things get stuck with you when you are very young and keeps bothering you in different ways when you grow up. Her grandmother always treat her badly, so obviously she will think that she hates her and that's the reason she even yells at her. Being an elder and much more matured, the grandmother should understand this. Even the elder sister knows she will be backed up by grandma that's why she threatens her mother not to scold even if she is wrong. In short that so called Grandma is giving a bad very bad upbringing to the elder one.

I don't know if this is the right place to spout this but from what I've noticed in Asian cultures regarding family, there's a big thing about saving face and wanting to look good to the community. A lot of parents and elderly tend to have narcissistic personalities so since the grandma was in the hot seat, she conveniently said she forgot about all those times she was awful. Regardless of whether or not she forgets, she still treated that child like trash. The child's mother even tried defending her but the grandma would shoot them down since she only sees things her way. My grandma did the same stuff whenever it could work in her favor but it was always contradictory and I was able to pick up on it.

I remember, in our personal development class, all students had to tell their experience about the 'worst thing their parent said to them'. I cannot believe what I've heard. Everyone had a story to tell and every story was heartbreaking. The top student was blamed by her mom for almost dying because she was 'not smart enough'. (Her mom also slapped her in a meeting, in front of all our classmates and parents, because she got a one line of 8 grade. It's terrible, but she's still a tough person, humble and kind.) What I've observed is that most of them had been compared to their siblings. Everyone ended up crying. Even the students I looked up to, the ones I thought were perfect, they cried and we all learned that they're going through some shit too. I never knew I'd see them so hurt. It changed how I see things. When it was my turn to tell a story, I just cried because my sisters might be going through the same thing without me knowing. I didn't really know how it feels to be compared. It was a heartwarming experience, and an eye-opener.

As a psychology major who is in love with developmental psychology, this is very, very disappointing and disturbing. The girls' mother should at least intervene and get the two girls assessed, though I don't know how effective that'll be since mental health awareness is still not as prevalent in Korea as in other countries. This in itself is a form of child abuse, as the law does consider psychological damage as a form of abuse, which can then be lead to court. I cannot possibly know the whole story, but the grandmother's and the older sibling's behaviors are sketchy already. And remember, older people are more prone to lying than younger people, and young ones have a harder time lying because their brains are still developing which means it's harder for them to make up excuses out of the blue. Not impossible for children to do, but the way the younger sibling replies unhesitatingly shows a lot.

the grandma is not cute AT ALL, she does not have the right to change her granddaughter and fovoring one to another: you have to encurage her and DO NOT say things like "it would be better if you were a boy" because it's greedy (like she said about her granddaughter), unpolite, rude and selfish. A child is a bless in every gender, behaviour and even when the child is not cute and tomboy-sh AND FOR GOD'S SAKE GRANDMA, PLEASE DO NOT BLAME FOR EVERYTHING SHE IS NOT GUILTY JUST BECAUSE YOU FAVOR THE ELDEST. You make me vomit on so many levels.

I'm sorry but it's so frustrating to watch this especially at how the grandmother seems to "forget" about how badly she treats the poor little girl. I'm the youngest and I probably have the same attitude as the girl and my sister is the kind, loving angel but my grandmother never treats me like shit. My aunt and sometimes my parents do compare me with her and I had to go through that for years but my grandmother will always see both sides before she gets angry. The older sister's surgery/health isn't a logical reason to treat the other sister like shit. This could honestly affect the little girl badly in the future especially as she grows older if this continues. Being compared to my sister affected me negatively as I get happy whenever she fails/makes mistakes or whenever she gets scolded. I sometimes even try to find my sister's mistakes and tell them to my parents just so she'd get scolded. This is a trait I am never proud about, a trait I've always wanted to change. I love my sister so much but I just can't help but compete with her at everything I do to the point of taking up a major that she failed in university just so other people could see how much better I am than her if I graduate with this major. All I'm saying is, comparing them will only lead bigger problems for them. This grandmother needs to learn how to treat both sisters equally. The other sister too needs to start defending her sister whenever the grandmother does shitty things to the younger. The grandmother will probably listen if the older tells her.

The youngest is really pretty. I've had friends with similar situations where their grandmother favored their sister or brother over them and most of the time, they were better looking. It's like a jealousy or even a resentment. probably because the youngest looks like someone the grandmother isn't fond of. Maybe a sibling of her own or whatever.

OMG, I faced the same problem as this young girl since my father had a daughter "my older sister" and when I was born my grandmother refused to come to see me just because I was a girl! and she was always harsh on me, unlike my sister. I grow up hating my sister because I was always compared to her, my parents, my grandmother, my teachers everyone was comparing me to her! Still till now, even my friends tell me why aren't you the same as your sister (since I am louder and more hyper than my older sister). Now I am really questioning my whole existence everyday! why I was born and what I am doing in life! it's really heart breaking. A msg to every parent out there, every single child is unique don't compare them to the others since it hurts their feelings :(

It can affect both sisters but in completely different ways. No matter how sick her older sister was, she is now healthy and able to make decisions. She is not a 5 year old girl... Something similar happened between my cousins and their grandmother. One girl who has an awful personality gets the nice treatment cause she had surgery when she was a baby (we'll call her M). The other one (let's call her A), who is my favorite cousin, gets told that she's a brat or gets ignored for her accomplishments. She finished what we consider high school two years before the rest of her class and is now going to college to become a doctor or a teacher. And M is still in high school even though she is now in her twenties. For Christmas M got new clothes and $400 dollars from her recently deceased grandfather (that was supposed to be shared equally). Meanwhile, A got a lousy plastic bracelet that broke really quickly. And seeing that horrible prejudice against a lovely hard working person angers me. So my mother and I got her a brand new tablet/computer so that she can manage her classes better. 😊

This in a nutshell: *gets asked a question* "I don't remember" This little girl deserves better. She can't just use the excuse of forgetting every single time she treated the younger badly, but also, is the older sister really just going to sit there and not do anything? I get that she was weak before but she seems healthy now and even if she isn't she should care for her younger sister. Older siblings should always take care of their younger siblings and defend them when people treat them badly. She should try to show the grandmother that even if she likes her more, she has absolutely no reason to treat the younger badly.

If you have a look at 10:09 too, you'll see the older sis smirking at how her grandmother said she forgot for the fourth (?) time which makes me think she has at least an idea of what's going on with her grandmother and her younger sister. And honestly, with the seesaw thing, she could've just told the grandmother the truth about what she did. Blaming the younger sister for a dirty sink is one thing, but to actually land her younger sister in the hospital for a week and not coming clean about it? The older sister isn't clueless of what's happening or even just ignoring the situation, but actually revels in the attention from her grandmother and how unfair the situation is.

Annabeth CSTLN My sister has the same problem. Well, not where she's scolded for everything, but her grades. I get straight A's (promise I'm not trying to brag or anything). So my mother expects the same from her. The thing is, my sister doesn't like studying. So whenever she comes home with a B or a C (or lower, but that's rare), my mother gets extremely upset and will make her study. It's gotten to the point where my sister tries to hide her report card, but that only gets her grounded. (I get reports too, so she knows if my sister has gotten one or not.) It also stresses me out too because If I get a single B on my report card, I'm automatically in deep trouble. So small things like homework and classwork can really irritate me if things don't go well. It's to the point where I cry about it.

Why is everyone laughing and clapping when the grandma says she doesn't remember? I'm expecting whispers and murmurs throughout the crowd about how IRRESPONSIBLE she is and they're just having a good time because she's an old grandma? Well this is a young impressionable girl, all this 'fun time' is just telling her that her grandma's loved for avoiding questions she doesn't want to answer to. Because it makes no sense, grandma remembers oldest granddaughter going to hospital a decade ago but not youngest granddaughter going to the hospital a couple of months ago. Forget Korea's respect for elders in this instance because if they were just going to let her off the hook for being 'cute' why did they even bring her to interrogate?

matchamei They are laughing due to the fact that how absurd the grandmother is behaving. The subtitle doesn't translate the whole situation properly. If you understand Korean you would have a different perception. Honestly, they're taking this issue seriously.

Lol, but seriously. The immature "grandma" should own up to her wrong-doings and mistakes. And for the older sibling, she should defend HER sister and stop being a "goody-two-shoes".

Sadly I have a grandmother like that. She has her favorites between her grandkids and they happen to be mothered by her youngest daughter, who is also the favorite of her kids. I don't communicate with her anymore because she has no willingness to change her ways.

+Sinta Krisna what do you mean Edit...Ahhhhhh I understand now I see this person has posted this comment on a few comments that disagree with the grandmother

Elu Mix being prettier has nothing to do with the fact that her grandmother has said in front of her that you should have been a boy, or your father is having a hard time because of you. and this comment doesn't make sense to me because by the logic that SK is superficial shouldn't the younger sister get more love shouldn't she be the one sitting with her grandmother and not with the MCs

Elu Mix stop freaking copying and pasting the same damn comment under every comment thread in this exact video IT'S ANNOYING AND YOUR REASON ISN'T RIGHT.

I can totally relate to this. when my lil bro and I have a lil quarrel,he'll run to grandpa and grandpa would always take his side.even my family notices this but since grandpa is the head,they can't say a thing. I tried telling my grandpa but he would always say also those older should know better responsibilities. Sometimes I am also wrong but he always took my brother side so I guessed I hated him

i think the grandmother is taking advantage of her age and when she gets a question she does not like she says "i dont remember". but anyways generally i am so frustrated at her!!! even if she is the elderly people should still ter her to stop it. Basically i cant relate to the girls story because my grandparents are fair and balanced but i am getting upset just from hearing it. I hate unfair people ever since i was young.

I'm glad that this little girl sticks up for herself at least. She even had to point out things to the others on stage and explain what is fair and what is not for her.
