I really liked when the male guest said 'the older one should put more effort' when people were basically telling the little girl to act nicer and try to get closer to her grandma. She's a child and she shouldn't have to bear the responsibility of maintaining a healthy relationship with adults. When you're the adult, it's YOUR responsibility to care for the children around you and make them feel loved and safe.

I agree with you.. for my experience it works two ways. I remember that my mother giving me heart to heart talk since i don't want to go to my grandmothers houses. she didn't blame me for it, instead she made me think from my grandmothers point of view. but my mother also talk to both of them, about somethings that make me uncomfortable around them. But, as you get older you'll understand them even more (it still depends on how your parent makes you understand) :)

So, skipping past the abhorrent treatment of Ga Hye, I'm also very concerned how they merrily skipped past how obviously terrified the mother is of the grandmother. It's obvious that the grandmother is at least emotionally abusive towards her, and that shouldn't be explained away as a "mother in law" thing. The mom obviously couldn't even defend her daughter well because she knew hellfire would be rained on her if she did. Jesus. Ga Hye self-harming just to get attention really should've concerned them more. Once they heard that, they should've stopped letting the grandmother make excuses and actually call her on her bullshit and blame her the way she needs to be blamed. Going that far just so that you feel loved already indicates severe trauma, and I hate how they only told her that was bad, instead of looking at the adults and saying "look what you're doing to this poor girl, this is your fault." They're so lucky I'm not on this show, I swear.

I don't know where u guys come from but in Korea the culture give mother in law authority over the family. Secondly there is very strict rule of seniority that seems like respect is an excuse for the older generation to abuse their power. Being raised in such community for decades, I don't think single voice is worth their attention. In the mother case, she suffered even greater when her guilty of having child before marriage (which is a shame to grandma family) made her voice less worthy to be heard. It's their deep rooted culture which is at faults.. I understood why they behave certain way after I knew this fact.. it's very sad.

Wow, the sister is saying she admitted her mistakes but the grandma goes "I didn't see her doing it, so I blamed Gahye.", are you fcking serious? Does that not sound weird at all? I don't know if the mcs are saying she's cute just so they wouldn't sound disrespectful and was sounding sarcastic or were really saying that and was laughing about it, cause it's not cute at all. The sister got sneakers from the grandmother and Gahye didn't get any so she asked her mother; but when she got it the sister goes to tell the grandmother about it to scold the mother. That's a bit unfair there. The little girl went that length to get attention by cutting herself which should be concerned and it'll become much more dangerous. It feels as if it wasn't only the grandmother and nobody is saying anything [ her mom or sister ]. I feel that Gahye is bottling it up but she still isn't getting answers from the grandmother. It's getting upsetting and frustrating. I hope Gahye can grow to love herself rather than letting people affect her; but she still so young and I hope it doesn't stick with her with that feeling. I know the feeling of being mistreated and feel unequally loved; which made me though about suicide at a very young age as her. I hope she can smile brightly and find her happiness. She's too cute.

I agree with the "I didn't see her doing it, so I blamed Gahye," statement. Did you see the first part?In that one, she was asked about the same thing, yet she said that she didn't remember what happened since it had happened a while ago. Yet here, she says something completely different. What a liar.

She just doesn't want to admit that she's wrong when someone catches her off guard. Maybe since she's older, she feels that she's wiser and always right, so if she's caught off guard and in the wrong, she doesn't want to admit it because it might make her lose "face" or make her think she might lose respect? That's how I think of it because my mom is kind of like this too :T The thing is that it's really hard to get older people to change since they're used to living the way they do and most likely are set in their ways.

Gahye: I took a little knife and cut my finger. Everyone: oh no...... *then moves on* Like seriously r u not the bit concerned that she purposely hurts herself just for attention she’s only 11 and as she grows up she could do worse things. She needs to go to an actual counselor and talk about that part.

En. And as a young child, having the courage to do it must've meant that she really felt that no one cares abt her. Even thinking abt the idea of self harm should've been a signal that she needs proper attention. If it weren't for her family situation, why would she have that thought in the first place? As a young girl growing up, it is understandable that she gets jealous at times, and seeks attention... But harming herself so that she can get her mom to care abt her? She must've really felt desperate. Personally, I feel that the way how the comedians ended the girl's issue was quite underwhelming, and her grandmother might not even change her ways. (Although I do also understand that they r not professionals, it's just my opinion, with no means of harming or disdaining them in any way.)

This entire video makes me so mad, let me list a few things: 1. How tf does the grandma oh so conveniently forget everything she’s done wrong in the past few years, but remembers perfectly what happened 40 years back? 2. The sister should be more understanding of Gahye. I understand that the Korean culture is very different from Britain, but surely this is taking it way too far? To me this seems like a typical bullying older sibling, and even her grandma joined in. 3. Even the hosts! Gahye should not be expected to be nicer to her grandma - again I understand that in Korea you should respect your elders - but that’s unacceptable! That’s like telling a traumatised victim to take the place of the serial killer in prison. It’s not fair, whichever way you look at it.

About the no. 1 thing, its a common experience old people experience when aging (I'm not an expert when it comes to these things so I'm sorry for any mistakes.) My grandma could remember her life back then vividly, (she remembers the time she was in school, and even her teachers) but she could hardly remember what pills to take. I'd also like to add up on the last part. They shouldve told her to avoid interacting with her grandma. Verbal abuse aint cool and talking to someone who you know verbally abuses you. Ranting to her grandma that what her grandma's doing wont really help cuz she's either going to forget it anyway OR she'll hate Gahye even more since it was Gahye who reported her.

It horrified me when she said she'd cut her own fingers and cause herself injuries just to get some love and attention. Having those kinds of thoughts go through the mind of a girl so little is incredibly damaging, and could really escalate to much more harmful situations if it's ignored.

It’s all because people love one child and express that more outwardly, and love the other probably a little less and not express it as much, be it in words or in actions. Knowing how to express your love towards children is an extremely important thing that many don’t realize, and it causes so much misunderstanding between family members. Everyone please hug your kids and say you love them as frequently as possible - they need constant reaffirmation of your love for them. Please don’t express more physical love towards one and forget the other(s)!

Well the grandma has litteratly become attached to the older child, she has loved her more since she as i said became really attached since her illness, and she really adores her, unlike the younger granddaughter she makes a mess, etc. For attention, but the grandmother doesnt know that, she only thinks she missbehaves, thats not a good way to express yourself if you want someone else to like you, i didnt have a great time with my mother, but i knew she has worked her whole life, since she was a child with a strict grandma she made her do everything, because of that she didnt want to do that to me then i became a spoiled child, but i began to realise it and i helped my mother, since she didnt have anyone to help, my 18yr old brother does nothing and neither does my 23yr old sister, i guess she couldv just used that time to help her grandma since she cant do much nowadays, and she will die at some point.. and she wont have good memorys with her grandma and she'll regret that...

Angie T that's true, and it's so problematic it makes me sick. The fact that older people are always the most problematic people in any culture, and yet Korea decides to make their opinions the priority... If that were the case in my house, I would not be on my phone watching a Korean tv show, who tf cares about those puffy faced bat clones anyways? It's honestly so ridiculous for them to allow this to happen to themselves, and then when they get old enough to do something they prefer it the way it is as they are now on the recieving end and it's just "something they have to go through". It's atrocious really.

一人だDarkVoid don't you see the whole video how could you said that the older is good when grandma sick 😪 don't u watch the part that grandma tell the little to massage her rather than tell older. Is it ok if ur mon or grandma buy ur sister with two coat 1 cost 257$ and another one 50$ but u get only 3 pairs of socks. I accept that little one want attention but we should find the reason why she do like that first and as this story that happens because her grandma ignore her and she is the kid so if she doesn't go to visit her grandma her grandma can't do that to her because she is elder why she want to behave like kid 😏 moreover, if the little really wrong why grandma always say she can't remember anything. Oh please look at her older sister when she talk or her gesture if u have studied psychology u will know that she is a kind of person that always think about her own interests, want to be the best one and full of jealousy.

No, what you don't understand is that since she is a woman born from a different generation, with different standards. Of course she wouldn't have liked to have a granddaughter as much as she expected a grandson but I think her intentions were just misunderstood. My grandmother also has a stern look on her face all the time and says things in a harsh way towards me, she praises my older 'male' cousin but I know that doesn't mean she hates me. Even though she doesn't visit us often we go out to eat pastries together when she does. When an elder complains to you, instead of feeling offended, learn from it and use others as a model to improve yourself. Perhaps that grandmother saw room for improvement in her granddaughter. Not everything is about you.

You can't make people do what they don't want to do unless you change something about yourself (that is, if you care what they think). Imo, the little girl should've never gone to the show and should've just given up on her grandma because you shouldn't have to beg someone to like you

WWLD WWLD My grandma hates me because I am a child of a woman she didn't chose. I tried my best to get her love. Visit her, clean her house, shop for her, baking with her. She still gave 50-60 pounds for the other family's daughters (she choses the wife of father's younger brother) when she give me 3-4 pound everytime(if she don't forget my birthday) to me. She speaks bad about my mother who cared about her that much she moved we moved in to grandma, she did clean the house every morning, cooked 3 meal, washed for her, but what did she do???? She went to the other family, and she was crying to them my mother treats her bad. Then she proceed to lie to her sister(who is treating us good, I would say she is more like my grandmother) that my mother treats her good. What about the other family? They visit her only when she can give them money, holidays. They speak to her like to an idiot or a dog. They don't respect her. They stole everything from her hour.They it's completely empty now. They even stole the jewelry my father supposed to get. When my father told my mother it's enough, we moved back and he told the other family should care about grandmother since the other family's wife and daughters spreading rumors how they cares about my grandmother all the time. The wife didn't do anything. My grandmother for months was wearing the same clothes, she wasn't washed, she was dirty, her house was so filthy, they collected 2 times more money for food she sometimes didn't even get. Now she is scared of them and she crying for my mother to go back and tor care of her. She have a nurse to visit her daily. She have the other family to "take care of her", we don't care anymore. I was always sad why grandmother don't love me even I tried everything... She is naturally selfish person who only look for her own benefits. My father is a kind person who see the good in everyone he is so naive. He was so upset everyday because when lived there to take care of grandmother she everyday was rude and shouting to mother. Father was so upset he took to his heart. He is that kind of person he takes to his heart and squeeze everything. Then one day he died 3 times. He was in coma, thankfully he is fine now. Everything happened because he was frustrated everyday because of.grandmother treating mother like a shit. When he got better and they returned grandmother at the door stopped them.yelling at mother "It's all your fault! My son died because of you!" . She literally blamed my mother while we were living at home nothing bad happened to father only when we moved to grandmother. Then father realized everything and he started tto hate grandmother and he said it's enough. My family is no longer give a shit about her. Maybe it's sounds cruel, but she is cruel too. She deserve it. I can totally understand this situation.

It was so bad, she didn’t stop things from happening to me from her husband (cancer killed him- good riddance the world is better without him, and I can stop looking over my shoulder) and blamed me for what happened. After that I haven’t spoken to her, I’m 21 now and haven’t spoken to her for 13 years. She’s dead to me, my mom always asks me why I hate her, but she would never believe me if I told her. Even though she went through the same things I did when she was a kid, she likes to “forgive and forget” the past, but I just can’t do it. Her older sister looks so gloomy and miserable asf, why on earth is she the treasured one by grandma? If anything, everyone loves Gahye more since she's adorable and pretty and I can't believe she purposely cut her finger..... that's pretty serious, her elders should really show her more love and attention especially she's at that young attention seeking for love type age

Yes, it started to seem pretty serious to that great length as well for a little girl to do that. Sometimes people who are usually cheerful are sometimes hurt. You can see her smile yet a bit distant as if she's trying to hold it in. The sister may just feel guilty at that moment but who knows what they're really like, but all I know that the grandmother reason was because the older sister was unwell before and had surgery at a young age so she's more worried about her more. Yet, I think it's still wrong to treat her other grandchild unequally. It's really upsetting and a waste as well to do that to Gahye. She'll be the one hurt and ruined even though she still so damn young, yet again the grandmother would say she's lying when she's really sick. smh. I hope this doesn't make her become damaged as she grows up, cause I know that feeling before and I hope she finds herself happiness and understand that she can love herself and not let anyone bring her down.

i think the main reason that the grandma is more protective of the elder sister is because she thinks that the younger sister is more loved in a way. stereotypically in families, the youngest is always given the most attention and love because they are cute and they don't have any responsibilities or expectations that they need to bear, therefore usually parents are lenient towards them. on the other hand, the eldest siblings are always raised strictly by their parents because their parents have the biggest expectations towards them and they also bear the responsibilities of looking after the younger ones. therefore it does happen in many cases where the elder sibling is gloomy while the younger one is bright (and mostly spoilt). esp, since they are both girls the difference that can be seen is even bigger. and plus since the elder sister has a history of being sick, the grandma can't help but feel more protective of her and be strict towards. just saying -> im just pointing out a reason why the grandma prefers to be protective of the elder sister and be stricter towards the younger one. this does not justify (and i cant understand) why the grandma has a huge huge huge gap between how she treats the older sister and how she treats the younger sister personally i would be able to understand her if she was more like: protective of the elder sister while being a tad bit stricter towards the younger one. but the whole : why were you born female, and swearing at her, being mean to the mom, and etc? NO. not cool
@Mslovepencil
@Mslovepencil 7 жыл бұрын
The two girls should be loved and treated equally, either they're bright and adorable or gloomy and miserable. We shouldn't tell which girl should be loved more or treated more badly. It's just the same for both, we don't want to see a gloomy girl cuts her finger either
@dimmedsnowflake
@dimmedsnowflake 7 жыл бұрын
Yes. Sometimes the ones who are outgoing and cheerful are the ones who feel hurt the most. I know because I'm exactly the same as her. I always act that I'm happy, cheerful, lively when I'm around people even though I was hurting. I take in every single hurtful and offensive words people say to me and keep it to myself. I cry alone and wipe my tears before going out of my room pretending nothing was wrong while everything was. But that's how I am. Maybe that's why people tend to throw hurtful words to me without realizing they hurt my feelings. Same goes to this girl, everyone around her thought she could handle a little mistreatment but that's what actually hurts the most.

The grandmother isn’t an idiot, she sees that the older one will be more disadvantaged in life, and also already had issues when she was younger..surgery on her face and a weak body. And if I had daughters I would do the same. Why are you tellig her that?! What's the point? It's not like she could turn in to a boy if she wants -.- This makes a little sad. BellaRingo Sadly her grandma is of the old generation. She believes boys are better than girls because they carry the family name and status. The mother cannot talk back to her mother-in-law because it's considered disrespectful and is a sign that she doesn't respect her husband and elders. It's very backwards but also some would say she should be humble and not talk back because she got pregnant before marriage, even though it takes two people to make a baby. It's very fustrating but that's how some families are still run. My Grandma is very similar to this one. My dad is the eldest son but he has no boys so grandma blames my mom, but genetics fault dad since he's the only one with the Y chromosome. She even said in front of the whole extended family that she should send my dad to China and find him a wife that can birth him a son. :( It's just how some old school ideals are. I am a huge fan of psychology so I have a good base on it. If you look at 1:57 you can see the old hag- erm, I mean grandma, touch her ear, just for that one second. It might seem like she was just fixing her hair, but psychology says that if you touch your ear/ears, even for a quick moment, it actually means that you refuse to listen. It's like you're subconsciously saying "I don't want to listen." Or "I don't like to listen to this."

Watching this was super painful to me and I feel like the generation gap may also be one of the reasons why the grandma treats her so horribly. This also happens in my own home because my mother treats my second older sister with a lot of love and when I confronted her about it, she would respond, "No, I love you all equally," but it's super visible. She doesn't let her cook and yells at my other sisters and me for not cooking FOR her as she is lazing the day away. My mom often lectures and rants at me and my older sister, but now that my older sister moved away, I get super stressed out dealing with my mom. My mom especially makes me run tons of errands for her (since middle school) and thinking back...NOT ONCE was I able to actually catch a break. Spring break? NAH, gotta run errands and help family matters. Summer break? Pretty much the same. I remember doing super badly one semester in college because my mom was yelling at me to discontinue my education and get married to a "rich guy," while I was literally in the middle of an errand. She has even called out to me in front of my friends and I was so embarrassed. Long story short, I hope Gahye is being treated better and that the grandma did not revert back to her old ways/go back on her words...

When you go to terapy they dont teach the world to treat you better, they teach you to deal with the world. Even if I agree the adult should be responsible for the child, she is a senior. She lived in another time so she has different values, also she may soon have dementia and starts to act like a child a throw tatums. Its safer to make gahye learn to deal with her grandmother (and whoever makes she thinks she needs to hurt herself for attention) than try to deconstruct her grandmother, especially when she may soon not be sane enough to stand for her own values.

When will old people & parents are gonna stop being bias. Even though the first child is sick, she shouldn't use her authotity to do whatever she likes. She already get the attention from the grandmother and she wants attention from her parents as well. So what does that make her? A selfless eldest sister. And the eldest sis told the grandmother that her mom bought shoes for Ester. Is it wrong for Ester to ask her mom to buy a pair of shoes? Using the reason on why she's sick and got to go operation and stuff is just absurd. As a eldest sis, she didn't do a good job as an elder sister. She didn't take on Ester side when the grandmother scolds Ester. Its not fair for Ester too. And the grandmother too. So old yet the words coming out from her mouth is like a kid. At a very young age, I still DO NOT get why parent biasing their own children. Like hell, is your childhood so miserable that you have to do it to your OWN kids?

Yeah, but she never did use the excuse of getting hospitalized tough. Also, it isn't wrong for Ester to ask for a pair of shoes but it also isn't wrong to tell other people about it either. Like if my sister got something, it isn't a crime for me to talk about, isn't it? Also, did you mean "selfish" or "selfless"?

Uri Pe its not wrong for her sister to tell her grandmother. But why does she have to? If she didn't tell her grandmother that her mom bought Ester a pair of shoes will she get hurt if she didn't? Of course she doesn't use the excuse of having sugery as and excuse. She don't even side Ester side when she know that she is wrong! She doesn't even look sorry when the mc ask her how she felt about her grandmother mistreating Ester.

Well, people don't necessarily need a reason to bring up a topic. She could have just used it as a topic of conversation. I don't think the elder sister would have known that their grandma would scold her mom about it. She also did mention admitting and insisting her mistake with the messy sink or soup incident. It ain't her fault if her crazy ass grandma doesn't listen to her. And beside, most kids with siblings would probably be like that too. Feeling relieved instead of sorry if you aren't the one who gets scolded by your parents or guardians

-c- so that her grandmother favours her more. Geez. She know she does something wrong and yet kept quiet about it and let the grandmother scolds Ester. So what does make her(her older sis)? A selfless person?

No, I'm not sure about you but I also normally keep quiet if my siblings are getting scolded. This is pretty common with families around me. Also, I think you mean she's a selfish person. Selfish means someone who cared only about themselves and selfless means cares about others too

Hold the fuck up. She just said openly she had cut herself a "little" to receive love!! What happens if she goes further? She's super young to have even thought about cutting herself! This girl is neglected! How the hell was that ignored? Her grandma is rude! She remembers what happens years back yet "pretends" to not remember any mishaps she's had with Gahye! Also Gayhe's mum needs to stand her fucken ground like if my partners mum treated my daughters like this I'd speak the hell up! Poor girl!

I'm asian too. But in my country, i noticed this culture gradually change where they focus on mutual respect. Even the government held a campaign called "Yang tua dihormati, yang muda disayangi - The elders is respected, the young is loved "

Seriously when people have the thought to harm themselves that means they possibly have mental problems, and they should be physically and mentally treated with any kind of medical treatment from professionals.

Gahye's so pretty tho. Very cute and adorable. Liked her from the moment I saw her 😊👍and yea, I agree with the comments on how the old ppl always play the *I can't rmb a shit thing* when being asked questions like these which could affect the child both psychologically and physically as stated on how she pretended to cut her finger 🙁 it's infuriating on how the sister acts so pitiful and the favoritism being played here 😡

Gahye' stories are relatable for me. My father has 2 other siblings and they are the most favored by my grandma. Including my two cousins. My mom was a countryside woman and that probably makes it even worse coz my grandma was against their marriage. My mom and I received unfair treatment ever since i was born. My mom had to work 9-5 and i was left with a baby sitter who cared about me so much. I grew up remember all the moments i wasnt treated nicely and unfair, whether its about food, love or nice words the least. 2 years ago when i turned 30, that baby sitter, she came to visit me, and she told a story that i cant forget. I was only 6mos old when i cried so loud one afternoon, she had a lot of chores to do. My uncle's wife came to see me crying and didnt even bother to calm me, she even got angry coz it was summer and the weather was hot. When my baby sitter tried to calm me, the aunt said dont, just do the chores, let her cry. My mom was there to listen to this untold story and there was a silence, she was speechless and questioned what did she do wrong to have her daughter unloved like that? My grandma only carried me once, and that was when i was born. She never bathed me or fed me. But she does care and does all of that for my cousins. She is now almost 90, and cant walk by herself. When she received a bone surgery, my mom and i took care of her even when she pooped on the bed. There was none in the house willing to do that, so my mom asked me lets do this, and forget all the things she hasnt done for you as a grandma. I personally forgave my grandma, but as a human, im still lacking in everything. I cant forget what she had done to me and my mom. It always stays in my memories until i die.

the hosts saying the grandma favours the older one more just bcs she was once sick is nonsense. i like the girl's statement saying she understand the grandma loving her sister but she doesnt understand why the grandma hates her. i mean, the grandma can love the older more without hating or cursing the younger one right? is it rlly necessary for the grandma to always yells at her and saying she should've been born as a boy? it shows that the grandma is literally being biased w the elder one.

and am i the only one who's not laughing or smiling at all? the grandma is not cute at all, she just avoid the questions and i somehow sense something fake reaction of the grandma when the younger one pours her water and kiss her. the older one doesnt help at all.

jiminn parkbts I believe that they were just as frustrated as the viewers (if not more) with the grandmother because they could tell she was lying. Plus, I don't think they actually found her cute (it seemed more like a replacement of a swear word) and were just being sarcastic

its not like she didnt remember. its becoz what the younger sayings were all true and she had to back up herself so she used her age and oldies symptoms to get away from the questions cz she got nothing to say. if she said anything about it, those must be a lie OR she would expose herself

yep, the older sister is going to be very unsuccessful just for the fact that she has a bad heart/personality. that's going to cause many doors to shut in her face.
