I always fill the canister before screwing it over the filter. Probably not necessary but makes me feel better.

It's recommended to jack up the front of the car to level position in order to be assured that all oil drains from pan.

Ya know, your house is like mine. Living space above the garage. I might suggest backing the car out? Even if I have all three overhead doors open with the breeze on LBI I can smell exhaust if car running in a bay.

What was the level afterwards? I ask because the car was not quite level when draining the oil.
