Nice video and love your parts van! The only bits I would add to help is that the new rotors have a film of grease on them to prevent corrosion and the calipers get full of old brake dust. Therefore some brake cleaner on the rotor and a good clean out of the calipers stops squeaks removes the grease. I also put a bit of high temp gel or copper grease on the back of the brake pad to also help with annoying squeaks. Yes, them rear wheels are dam heavy😬

Hi Tony! Thanks for watching! Yeah, the Brembos I bought had a zinc coating on them, so they will be nice and protected moving forward. I mentioned that I cleaned up the assemblies with some brake cleaner in the video, I just didn't get a shot of it. I also paint the backs of the pads with the copper paste :) The wheels are soooo damn heavy it's not funny lol! Thanks for tuning in my friend! Cheers

@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Sweet! Glad you like it! I have a few coming that are cool! Stay tuned. The rollbar I sold over the winter - it's actually in a local 964 RWB now. It looked cool but was kind of dangerous in street situations, also my plan all along was to put a kid seat into the 993, but since I got the 997, that has been put on the back burner..Win/win though, there is more room in the van with it gone. :)

The sticker is speaking to the oft-off called "air-cooled 911 era." from 1964-98 where the oil is cooled by the 911's huge rear fan, thus cooling the engine itself. His 911 is from the H20 + oil-cooled era.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын

@dpav79946 жыл бұрын
Good for you for doing that yourself. That dealership is near where I live and I've had quite a few things quoted there in the past on my 997. Btw you can usually press the brake pads in with your fingers just slightly, no need to get the clamps out and worry about overflow of fluid. But you should probably change your brake fluid too. It's likely as old as those nasty rotors! Where did you find the German auto supply story???? I always end up ordering my parts online and paying a ton for shipping and duties.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Bolts are bolts. I use the clamps to get it done faster - by hand works sometimes too though. The fluid was changed before I took delivery of the car so I didn't bother, it was golden on the bleed, so I wasn't worried. I'll change it next April. I heard of Germanparts.ca on forums and fb groups. They're awesome, no duty, and shipping is very reasonable . There is also a discount code if you're in Canada - "911C4S" :) Thanks for watching!

I also have on hand Brake Fluid, though, I didn't flush it this time since it was done not long ago and it didn't need top up. Hope this helps. Cheers

Thank you! I have been tinkering with my cars since I was a kid. Porsches are a lot of fun to work on because they are "track-bread", meaning that they are engineered to be easily maintained or repaired track-side, in between or during races with limited tools. A lot of consumable maintenance items like brakes for example are very straight forward procedures. Thanks for tuning in!

Holy Crap... those rotors looked terrible... What brand of rotor did you end up going with? Will likely need to get new rotors soon, thinking of getting Brembos... It was a significant amount in the end - I was quoted about $2k CAD to do the rear rotors and pads and sensors - I paid about $600CAD in parts and spent an hour and a half swapping them. The fronts I’m assuming would be a bit more (I didn’t price them out) - parts were about $800 and it took 2 hours to do - I stripped one of the rotor screws and had to extract it - otherwise would’ve been an hour and a half of time I’d say...all in all significant savings..
