I don’t normally comment on any videos but I found this video so encouraging. I’m currently 7 months pregnant and have been getting pretty terrified by the idea of giving birth. So thank you so much for sharing a positive birth story 🌷

Gave birth almost 4 months ago to my first baby. Completely unmedicated, no epidural, no gas, nothing. Absolutely loved it! Best experience ever I honestly can't wait to do it again! I had a water birth which I think definitely helped too. You got this mama! You can do it! ☺️ Edit: I researched a lot about hypnobirthing, breathing, being calm as possible etc. Researching a lot about the full process of labour and what my body and the baby's body goes through. I think that definitely helped as well, fully understanding the whole natural process. Just knowing that your body is literally made to do this!

You totally got this!! I just had a natural delivery 12 weeks ago. It’s was the craziest but most awesome thing I have ever done in my life. The mental battle is the hardest part….you think it would be the pain….nope. If you believe you can do it, you WILL! God designed us to do this :)

I’ve seen so many people say they want a home birth but I’ve never seen anyone actually prepare the way you did. I didn’t even know you could work with a pelvic floor coach before birth. It’s even more impressive because you were late to learning you were pregnant but you were still more prepared than any other person I have ever seen. Your experience was so well explained and I feel like I learned so much. Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

YES! I learned with my first just from going to the chiropractor for back pain that I had prenatal PT covered by my insurance - I didn’t even know that was a thing. I learned so much, and my second pregnancy I’m taking vitamin d and exercising daily and it has made an INSANE difference in comfort, sleep, energy, mood, it’s wild. People coddle themselves when pregnant and it makes everything horrible. My first birth was in a hospital and I was terrified and it didn’t go well. This time I’m taking hypnobirthing courses, having a home birth and doing it unmedicated. I am SO excited! Never thought I’d say that.

My first experience with home birth I was 4. I watched my momma and daddy deliver my sister. And then 2 years later I watched my momma and daddy deliver my brother. To me it seemed so magical. Fast forward to my second pregnancy. My son, we decided to have a home birth. It was the best decision we had made! It was beautiful and gave my husband and I a bond that I had NEVER felt with anyone. So we had two more home births!!!❤ I loved listening to your beautiful story!!! Thank you for sharing!

I just gave birth to my daughter last month. Your story is how I wish my labor went. I had been having contractions right on top of each other that were pretty comfortable. And I went to the hospital that was 25 minutes away when they were two minutes apart. This was my second pregnancy and I was GBS positive. So I figured that was a good time to go. Once I got to the hospital They checked me in can’t be comfortable and hooked up to monitors. Then my midwife came in to check me. At that point my contractions were less than a minute apart and excruciating. When she checked me I was one and a half centimeters dilated and I started crying. They told me that they were going to give me a medicine to help relax in between contractions and that I needed to go home and sleep for 8 to 10 hours and come back in active labor. I was screaming through my contractions and Maybe your wife came in and told me I wasn’t allowed to scream because it was disturbing the other moms and they told me that my rapid breathing was stressing out my daughter. And they put me in a wheelchair and sent me on my way home telling me to go home and sleep and spend time with my older daughter. So my husband and I drove 25 minutes back home and I get in the tub for about 15 minutes before my water broke. It had meconium in it. So since I was GBS positive and because of the meconium That I needed to get out of the tub and back to the hospital. But I really was not wanting to get out of the tub. And they won’t even said that unless I wanted a homebirth I needed to get out and I seriously considered it. At this point I thought I needed to push but I was not sure. I started to think about my baby and if something happens I want her to be able to get care. So I get out of the tub and into the car. And Once I got in the car and my husband was totally freaking out I thought this great sense of calm and I told him everything was going to be great. The whole drive there I am trying so hard not to push but my body said that it was not waiting. Right before the hospital exit on the freeway my daughters head popped out. This caused husband to go into a bigger panic. By the time that we made it to the hospital which was three minutes away from where my daughters head came out at. My daughter was born. I was extremely lucky that she did not have any health issues. I am super glad that I was able to remain calm And Deliver daughter myself including catching her. I really couldn’t believe it. Congratulations on your new baby🎉❤

I actually work in Labor and Delivery (hospital setting) and (though I’m not pregnant yet) have been so against home births for safety reasons (I’ve assisted with many emergency cesarean sections). But hearing about your birth, it sounds like such a beautiful experience (which no one who’s ever seen a live birth will say lightly). You made me do research on the actual safety of it and now I’m considering it? I never thought I’d say that 😱

seriously, i’m a hcp (RT) and can vouch that you are not taught about physiological birth and how powerful it is! check out @painfreebirth for inspiration and info! had a natural hospital birth with hypnobabies (i know sounds crazy) but it was so much better than my two previously dr. “managed” crap shows of births. i’m serious here.. your body is the best at delivering your baby and our modern medicine honestly just gets in the way the majority of the time.

Thank you for sharing this and I am so glad you went with the home birth. I did as well but it wasn't exactly as planned...I had a HORRIBLE midwife. I had a really heavy fear of pooping all over the place, my mother also had myself and my sisters at home and told me her body evacuated everything just before delivery so I wanted to see if I could prevent pooping while delivering. My midwife almost treated it like a joke and it really made me upset. She didn't seem to care at all about my fears or concerns but she just casually told me I could take castor oil to evacuate if I felt the need. She did not explain that it would take hours to take effect OR that it would greatly increase the pain and speed of contractions. She had told me to time my contractions and to call her when they reached a certain space between. She was an hour away from my home mind you and we were planning a water birth, so she also had to set up the pool and fill it...I called her at 7:30 pm in immense pain, having contractions on the phone...she actually laughed and said, "Wow that on sounded like a doozy!" Are you kidding me?! My contractions were NEVER at the timing in between she wanted me to call...eventually the pain got so bad I couldn't focus on the timer and I just kept feeling like I needed to poop. Little did I know I was entering transition. I was on the toilet screaming for my husband to call the midwife. She didn't make it on time. I don't know if it was just arrogance or what but at one of my appointments I remember her swearing by her record of never missing a birth. My body just told me to get into the tub...the pain felt as if I was being split in two, I wanted to shed my skin and climb the walls. My husband just held me as I screamed and reminded me to breathe. Eventually I reached down and felt my son's head. I told my husband he was going to have to catch him. He was like, "I need to WHAT?!" Thankfully he didn't panic and delivered my son there in the tub. This was at 9:30 pm. 15 minutes later the midwife's assistant made it to our house. Shortly after that the midwife arrived. I tore really badly and I think it was due to not being in the correct position. I really am upset with this woman as she was very nonchalant about so much of the situation. It took her an hour to sew me together and right at that time the castor oil hit. I had to keep getting up and going to the toilet. Sorry this was so long I just felt compelled to share my experience too. I don't ever regret not going to a hospital, I think I probably should have gone to a birth center, but at the time it was just too expensive for us to afford. I ended up going to a birth center for my second son and honestly it was such a lovely experience. The room was extremely relaxing and their birth tubs are INCREDIBLE. The jets and hot water were so soothing. No screaming that time, just the primal grunt-scream once you go into transition. ANYWAY. To anyone that read this in entirety, thanks for sticking with me that long, and btw, I don't recommend the castor oil lol.

Luckily I had a very seasoned doctor and he picked up on my panic during the pushing and basically yelled at everyone to be quiet, pointed at the middle of his glasses and told me look at me and breathe, push, relax etc etc and that really was all I needed to refocus!

I am twenty two and i had my first baby the same way, from what I heard from others is that labour pain start with small contractions with long intervals and then get intense. But for me, it started with strong contraction with 5 to 7 minutes apart and i thought it was false labour. I didnt Believed I was going through labour till the end when I broke my water. I also had home birth but I gave birth five minutes before my midwife reached. Me and my husband were the only one in the room. Luckily, my husband didn't listened to me and informed the midwife and she said I am in labour but I was not convinced.

Congratulations Abby 💐 I had a very traumatic homebirth plan turn induction turn cesarean at 42+1 last year and now we are ttc again. Up until seeing your video I secretly hoped this cycle didn't conceive because traumas kinda like that. But seeing you talk about your birth in this way is very encouraging for me and I hope to see two pink lines soon. Birth trauma is incredibly isolating though for this reason, I didn't listen to many traumatic stories because I didn't want to get discouraged but when it happened to me I quickly found myself in a different category, and it's a category no one wants to hear which makes it all the more painful. I hope I get another chance to have a baby, hopefully with both of us being healthy. I don't know if I'll ever get my home birth but even a hospital birth with low intervention would be redemptive. But your story and approach makes me feel like maybe I can try again and have it go better ❤️ (my baby had neonatal lupus but she's all healthy now)

My goal and deepest heart desire is to have a vaginal unmedicated birth, and I find it so helpful to listen to other positive birth experiences like this. I fully agree it’s so important to protect your energy during pregnancy. I tuned out any negative birth experiences that people would try and tell me as a way to protect my subconscious and to eliminate birth fear. I also appreciate hearing about pregnancy and delivery from another woman who struggles with those pesky gut issues haha… it has constantly been a mental battle for me wondering how IBS will affect labour and delivery. BUT I rebuke that fear and I am encouraged hearing your story! Congrats mama! You did amazing and baby girl is so precious!

having had a home birth that went horribly wrong because the lack of medical monitoring didn't pick up a problem with my son, I would say if you're going to do it, make sure you're either monitored by a nurse regularly, or you're no more than 20 minutes from hospital, especially if it's a first labour. It's lovely when it goes well, but a lot of things can happen during birth, and I've known enough women who had problems in labour at home to know that we should be very grateful for medical oversight sometimes. My son would be dead if I'd continued at home and I was incredibly lucky he wasn't brain damaged. I was also very lucky my mum recognised something was wrong. I ended up with permanent physical injuries from the labour and subsequent crash c section, and that wouldn't have happened if I'd been monitored in hospital. Think carefully about the risks and whether it's right for you, and have a plan B/emergency plan in case things don't go smoothly.

Refreshing. To see and hear someone say they just want to internalize, be with themselves mentally, and not be touched or talked at in an overly positive, superficial way… refreshing and assuring. Blind fold I’ve never seen or heard of that before. But I think seeing peoples faces and facial expressions would get me out of my zone too. Very cool to see something not over dramatized and focused on mom and her controlling her experience instead of being treated like a specimen to be poked and prodded at. Congratulations! See months of hard physical training and mental training pay off. Amazing and inspiring. This is why we train. So we can do hard things and not be broken when they happen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I'm also planning an un- medicated birth with my Midwifery Team but at a hospital and hearing your story gave me so much positive feelings and helpful tips like picking up a spikey stress ball and checking out a pelvic floor PT to help me practice positions and breathing! You are amazing and I hope my birth story is as positive and productive as yours! Also had no idea your mucus plug can drip multiple times! I thought it was a one and done deal so super good to know!

I loved the realness of this video. How you were in shock after she came out. I think no one likes to talk about those types of feelings. I don’t have any babies and if I’m lucky to have some in the future, I think I would prefer a hospital but I am glad yours went well at home. Congratulations and you are an awesome mom already! 😊

I absolutely love this!!! I totally agree with protecting your energy and understand why you held onto the home birth detail. I have 5 children and have had 4 home births and I can honestly say that each experience was amazing. I laughed when you mentioned the uncontrollable push. I had the urge to push with my second daughter and wow. Although very intense, it was actually the easiest pushing stage I’ve had. I just knew my downstairs was torn up but I actually did not tear!! I am also not one to take baths but I love the water during labor. After my first born, I decided to have water births and loved them!! I went from the birthing tub, to the shower, to the bed. Being home was always so peaceful. So happy you had a great experience.

Since i'm on life-saving medication for the rest of my life that would have potentially severe complications if I were to get pregnant, I'm grateful I can still live vicariously through other people's positive birth stories. On one hand, I sometimes get teared up because I can't experience the most incredible miracle of the human body; on the other hand, I sometimes jump for joy knowing I'll never have to go through the physical and emotional pain of pregnancy/labour/child-rearing. Positive birth stories like these are so helpful in that I (as a very empathic person) get to feel some of the emotions you were feeling as you tell your story without having to experience the event myself. It's a very small win in my books, and a big win in yours. Love and well-wishes to your little family

Just found out I'm pregnant, on Christmas Eve/Christmas and wondering if I should start video journaling my journey. I'm sorry that's an experience you'll never get to have, but it's wonderful that you can emote it with others. I wish you the fullest life with what you've been given and peace and love 🙏❤️

So glad you had a great experience. You had the labour and delivery I had hoped for. I had an unplanned c section which was actually a positive experience given the situation and everything went well, just wasn't what I hoped for. I'm excited to see your post-partum content. I'm currently 17 weeks pp and love seeing my lil babe growing and developing. That first smile and giggle is magic!

I was so excited to hear your experience! It’s crazy how similar ours was. I loved the way you explained the fetal ejection experience. I feel like I was extremely prepped on natural birthing processes and stories and only heard “you’ll know when to push, you’ll just know” I was never explained your BODY will push FOR you. It was the only time during labor I truly felt I had lost control, I felt scared. My mental totally wasn’t prepped just like you said yours wasn’t! Congratulations on your delivery and baby girl! Whenever your next birthing story happens I’m excited to hear how different it was compared to your first!

omg this was so lovely. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It really gave me a huge insight on what the mother feels and how you can listen to your body when it's time to deliver baby. I was unsure on how I wanted my ideal birthing to go but now you have me convinced that being at home birth sounds so comforting. After your labor you were in your own bed which sounds amazing. I just graduated nursing school as well and we learn all about antepartum, labor and delivery, the newborn assessments, and postpartum care. It's very cool to hear about how it actually feels rather than the science. I love the confidence you had in yourself. It's very inspiring. Thank you so so much for sharing!

I love love love that you did a home birth with your first baby! I barely got on the train with my 4th one and I wish I could go back and do a home birth with all 4. If you’re low risk, it’s so ideal and way better than a hospital birth!

If they have it at your birthing center, water birthing helps with the labor pains so much. Like she mentioned the tub helping her, you won't believe how much water improves comfort.

Congrats on little lady! 💗💗I am so impressed with how you handled pregnancy, it would have been amazing to hear this before I had my first baby 7 years ago, even with my second 4 years ago 😅😅 I attempted the natural route but towards the end I caved due to exhaustion, I once again attempted it with my second but we had some medical complications that didn't allow me to go that route. Hearing your story made me realize that I put way too much pressure on myself both times, I definitely overstress and over think many situations. Thank you for sharing. 💓💓

I know exactly what you mean about being unprepared for pushing! I also thought I would just breathe my baby girl out but when I actually was in the moment of pushing I couldn’t do anything to control myself. My husband and midwife were so helpful in keeping me from pushing so hard that I’d tear. Congratulations! So happy for you and your family ❤
