I disagree with everything here, man. I feel like it's too early into the manga's run to criticize the pacing harshly. Personally, I've enjoyed every chapter Hokozono has put out so far and I think the story has been able to establish characters and plot points that will be crucial down the line, very well. On that point of character expressions, I disagree that they're bland. It's true that many characters make that wide open mouth, eyes low expression, but that just seems to be a running gag, and I honestly think it shows up an even amount, to where it doesn't get annoying. There aren't many characters currently, but with the few we have, Hinao, Shiba, Chihiro and Char, they all have enough personality, expression and mystique to where you wanna know more about their history and how their characters will evolve. Overall, I think we gotta give this series more time. I've really been enjoying it so far, and I hope it's future is bright.

Personally, I think you should give a story time to develop it's plot and characters, and allow it to branch into something greater, before you call it "mid" and "boring". There's definitely people like you, who haven't enjoyed the series so far, and that's fine. There's a community a people who really like it and are here for the ride

I’m enjoying it so far, Mr Shiba is my favorite character rn. You make a lot of good points, but I think the story’s pacing will improve as the action and stakes ramp up(at least I hope it will).

Chapter 5 was kinda what I was looking for in the story, felt like we’re getting more tangible plot elements with the new bad guy introduction. I think KB thrives in its visuals so CH6 should be a knock out

I think most people should take from this that they are personal issues for you but these are also things that can really drive home for others in the future if its not corrected. I think its fine for these current issues to exist at this very moment sense we are only 4 chapters in but once the memes are over and the series has to stand on its own 2 legs, something more grand has to come from it. If anybody reading this or even watching this thinks this is hate on the series, you just aren't reading what I said or listening to what Johnny is saying. The future for the series is still bright and I'm definitely excited to see everything Hokozono has planned. SJ is a strict magazine so an axe can happen at any time with a series. I just hope this series develops in a way that it doesn't have to worry about that.

I think 10 chapters is a better gauge for seeing its hook setup and if it hits or not, as it has to set up world building, characters, power system, main plot, etc. in those limited pages. I think the immediate signs of improvement with 5 and 4 compared to 1 and 2 are a reason to hear it out just a bit longer before dropping it.

I've read 20 chapters in and I think the art is very beautiful, the main character and his dad, and the overall plot about the intention of the sword etc is OK, but the pacing is really bad and there's zero emotional connection to anybody who isn't the main character. Bloodshed to bloodshed, Black-clothing badasses to black clothing badass, enemy to enemy. I can't feel sad for the group of 5 badasses who just got introduced with cool poses because they died immediately without doing a whole lot. I didn't even need to learn their names. We don't know why Char is so upbeat despite her life being total shit. We never get to learn more about Sojou's background or traumas. Sojo. is very evil and we have no idea why or what the dude even wanted and now he's dead. And now there is a hot new girl who is a badass and looks hot. We are told that she is very strong. Ok. Are we going to find out anything more about her other than her being very hot and very strong? I think it has a ton of potential but the characters (other than Rokuhira and his dad) need more development. It's a lot of "cool surface" but not enough depth.
