Bought an A750 for my girlfriend for $250, the drivers have come a LONG way. Performance is slightly under my 3070, which costs $570... The ray tracing performance on Intel is very good, equal to Nvidia's 3000 series, and better than RDNA 2 and RDNA 3.. And with Arc I get AV1 encoding (something only $800+ GPUs have), XeSS upscaling (or FSR), XMX AI cores which help me upscale in Gigapixel AI, and finally their encoder is top notch, literally better than Nvidia's NVENC and far ahead of AMD. Is Arc perfect? No. But it currently is the best value on the market, and as drivers continue to improve, will only get even better.

Great news honestly. More competition in the GPU space is a godsend, Nvidia have been borderline coasting for close to a decade at this point and AMD always spend ages working out driver errors each time they launch a new generation.

I can't agree that the intel arc A770 or A750 ray tracing performance is better than rdna 3 when the 7900 xtx has the performance of a 3080 on quake 2 rtx and minecraft rtx. it's ray tracing performance is around 3060 ti level or rx 6800 on rdna 2 when it comes to it's rt performance on the intel arc highest end A770 LE. I think the best performance you can expect of the intel arc A770 LE is rx 6800 raster performance or 3070 level rt performance on the intel arc A770 LE and the A750 is going to be 3060 ti or 6700 xt performance at best case in the future when the drivers are better.

I picked up an A750 recently, and honestly, it's quite good. I had some issues with older DX9 games initially (Risen 1 under 30 frames), but upgrading the rest of the system with support for ReBAR fixed it. Games run incredibly well now, even with Raytracing (which I didn't expect at all). Idle power use is a little high at 40W, but a new driver is supposed to fix that. For under $300, it's a great deal, and it's only going to get better as drivers improve. I don't like Intel, but AMD really showed that they are not different with how greedy they are. So screw it, I'm just buying the best value going forward, and in the GPU space, that's Intel right now.

Celes or whatever the third series is will be a monster I imagine. In one generation Intel very nearly caught up in RT & AI upscaling, it's not super far behind in raster and it's hardware encoders are the best on the market. While a lot of people either don't know this or don't believe it, in some games this is very true. In 1440P and even 4k with RT this card is amazing for the money, sure not in every game but Hogwarts is a good example of what Arc can do. And as more game studios work with Intel (and more start supporting XeSS) the more consistent the card's graphical potential will become. The A750 and A770 cards are not for everybody. You are not going to get consistent performance at any resolution, it really depends on game. Generally, you can expect 3060 performance across the board at minimum, but in a decent amount of games you are getting 3060 ti performance...and a smaller percentage of games where at 1440p RT and 4K RT matching or even beating the 3070. For 250 and 350 bucks that's not bad at all. There will always be those that will be LOL@INTEL peeps, where they would rather buy a used 3070 for 400 bucks that may or may not have been well cared for or mined or even just skip used and spend upwards of 600-1200 on a new GPU, but come on for a brand new card with 3060 level performance that can also punch way above that even at higher resolutions for 350 bucks??? It's a no brainer. I would recommend the A750 to A770 to anyone that wants a well priced GPU and who also wants to support the competition. That's my opinion though. So. Yeah.

I'm a professional editor and I bought an ARC GPU for my encoding NAS box since it's the cheapest way to get hardware AV1 encoding right now. If I was going to buy a 4080 or whatever, I'd be putting it in my gaming PC too. But so far ARC has been VERY reliable as an encoding card. H.264 performance is slower than my 3080ti, but AV1 is a godsend for my work since I edit 4k 60FPS footage that eats up a ton of space. Being able to batch convert footage to AV1 overnight and shrink everything down is phenomenal and I haven't had any major issues doing that since I installed it a couple months ago. I got the lowest tier ARC GPU and for $150 in a production environment it's kind of an absolutely insane value. I really think if you're in need of a video encoding card for say a plex library or editing, ARC is the most bang for your buck option, especially if AV1 matters to you. Nvidia and AMD have been riding their high price horse for FAR too long and even at $300 the 770 is, to me, a killer deal for gaming. Yeah, their drivers are still a bit messy, but honestly, I don't think it's the sort of stuff the average person would notice that HASN'T been well documented by Intel already. I'd guess by the time V2 launches their drivers will be on par or better than Nvidia's and AMDs. Intel has FU money and a bottomless pit of talent to throw at this project. It's only going to be a win win for consumers if they stick to their current pricing model of "you pay for the FPS you get, not the name on the tin"

Been using the a380 since end of August 2022, I didn't experience most the issues that youtube people talk about. I believe this is due to A) I run it on a I5 12400 (No K, no F) likely a target machine with compatibility baked in B) Clean Install vs a test bench that has remnants of lots of other mature drivers. The initial drivers were bad, but they addressed the really bad issues quickly once reported. 3rd party software support has been sporadic but getting better. Most importantly the CPU roadmap has the integrated graphics changing to tiled graphics utilizing what appears to be a variation of Arc graphics. I would definitely not recommend these to someone who just picked up an used computer for cheap, but yes for a current gen (Intel 12th gen+ or AMD AM5+) system.

I bought an A770 on launch day and I've been generally pleased. I've had issues a couple times with my monitors, but I think it's because my setup is weird, and it always was fixed by just unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. Honestly, the biggest issue I've had so far is games not recognizing the card and claiming that it doesn't support DX12 or something. I've been able to work around this usually by using DXVK, but it's pretty infrequent and not too big of a deal unless one of the few games that don't recognize it are vital to you and DXVK doesn't fix it. I'll probably upgrade to another Arc next time I feel the need to upgrade. As a side note, some raytracing stuff seems to break easily, but most of the stuff I've tested were tech demos from a while ago so I think they're looking for nvidia specific cards or something, and I never really use it anyways. Who does really? I've also been a little confused when people keep mentioning how we desperately need a third competitor in the GPU space. I fully support the added competition, but it's not exactly like AMD is equivalent to Nvidia. If people really wanted competition, they could've just been buying the AMD cards that make up less than like 20% of the market. It seems like people are pretending that the GPU space is dominated by Nvidia and AMD rather than realizing that it's really just Nvidia. Plus, it seems likely to me that Intel is going to cut into the small market AMD still has, further killing that portion of the company.

You're right that Intel doesn't have much of a track record in the discrete graphics card market, but I wonder what could've been if they improved performance & compatibility on their integrated graphics (either Intel UHD or Iris XE), before Arc came out. On another note, aside from Larrabee, there's 2 other efforts that people forget: a) the DG1 dGPU since it only got released to OEM, and b) the Devil Canyon Intel NUC that had integrated AMD Radeon Vega graphics, probably too obscure at this point.

one problem with your analysis is that I dont believe that Intel created Arc to compete in the $200-300 price point, instead I think they were hoping to get more of a 3070/6700 level of performance and an MSRP closer to $500, if not higher; the A750/770 are based off of a GPU that has more transistors and is physically larger than both the GA-104 based 3060Ti/3070/3070Ti, as well as the Navi-22 based RX 6700s, and yet performance often falls more in line with the even smaller GA-106 and Navi-23, which is why they're reluctant to price them as low as they should be priced relative to their actual performance + early growing pains that the early adopters have to put up with. is Arc viable for the consumer in this price range? Yes, it certainly has value, but if Intel is eating a loss of an expected +~$200 on each GPU, is it viable for Intel? I seriously hope they continue to improve, but I think we are going to need to see some major generational improvement from them in order to expect to see them stick around.

I think a big part of the reason Intel has been able to address so many issues with driver updates is the same reason their cards performed so poorly out of the box. Something like 90% of any given graphics card's driver at this point is bugfixes not for the card or the driver, but for the games themselves. Modern games ship in a horribly buggy state, and rather than expect devs to get off their asses and fix their own bugs, AMD and Nvidia compete to see who can integrate better workarounds into their "drivers" so they can brag that their cards run the games better. Intel has decades' worth of such hotfixes to catch up to after years of making perfectly serviceable chips that no one expected to be able to run games with in the first place.

As an owner of an A380 since November, I can say that its encoding performance is absolutely bonkers, transcoding modern digital films at 1080p with well over 200 FPS in AV1. Older films tend to get bogged down with all the grain and such and cut the performance in half, but a side-by-side comparison shot to the BD file is completely indistinguishable (to me at least) with down to 1/4th of the bitrate. The thing is the best "bang for your buck" card for that task on the market, considering all the Arc cards have the same encoding setup. I've also heard that the Arc line ain't too bad at stable diffusion, though I haven't tested it and probably won't in the near future. I'm too complacent on Win10 at the moment with the drivers finally coming into their own a bit. Gaming wise... it's a slightly better 1650 with ray-tracing at stock settings and an almost 1060/580 overclocked to ~2700Mhz. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming alone unless you really have no more money to spend and can't/won't buy used. I think that it's the best card in the

Still has annoying bugs like spamming me with pointless notifications. On Linux, with the introduction of kernel 6.2, the card "just works" for most things. OpenCL and Vulkan are functional though some games ran via Proton exhibit graphical bugs (DOOM 2016 on i3 window manager, is one instance of this). Ray-tracing and hardware encode support seems to not be present on Linux at the moment either, nor does Blender let you use the card for acceleration (whereas on Windows you can). You cannot read GPU temperatures or fan speeds on Linux either. For general desktop use, it's great though there's still a long way to go on the driver side before I'd consider it mature.

Saying XeSS works better on intel cards is an understatement. Used it in Warzone 2.0, the game looked worse then FSR 1.0 performence mode, not only the textures were blurry, but at the same time it oversharpened every edge and contrasting shadow to the point it just looked like a low poly game. And Alchemist is quite literally second iteration of their current try, it's a second gen product. DG1 was Iris XE, while DG2 is alchemist. It's like saying Navi 1 doesn't count and Navi 2 is first gen because the former didn't have a full lineup. But don't think I don't wish Intel well, I am an AMD fan personally, but that doesn't change the fact that having intel in the GPU space can't hurt anything, all it can do is help the consumers at this point.

Nvidia and AMD drivers are hundreds of megabytes of weird and esoteric fixes for PARTICULAR software (games, applications etc.) where the developers of those software use the hardware or the API _WRONG_, thus either tanking the performance or causing glitches. So instead of AMD and nVidia telling the devs to fix their software, the fixes are done ont he fly in the drivers themselves, that's why they're so huge in size. And this is something new players like Intel don't have. Decades worth of fixes and optimizations for specific software, because Intel has taken the approach of "this is our API, if you use it wrong, it's on you and we only fix things if it's really our drivers problem, but we will NOT add code to our driver to fix your new AAA-game so it works better and faster because there's no business case for us to do it..." But nVidia and AMD make money by claiming the "performance king" on the newest and hottest game / app and they HAVE to fix the mistakes devs do, because if they don't, gamers don't buy their cards. It's ass backwards approach, but that's been the reality for decades. This is why the nVidia and AMD drivers are proprietary and why linux and open source drivers are so flaky and bad. Because programmers do bad, unstable, inefficient code that has to be fixed program by program basis. So blame the programmers of the games and apps, not intel.

I bought the A770 LE a few months ago out of curiosity and tried it in 4 different PCs. Overall, it is a good GPU and is a great choice for standard desktop graphics. If all you do is game you might need to look elsewhere for now, but gaming performance is improving and most of my titles work just fine. On my old Xeon workstation, there was no resizable bar option and it had 10% less performance than on the newer PCs, but if you are replacing an older GPU like a Quadro K5000 or K6000 or GTX970 or 1060 you saw a gain in performance even on the old workstation. We all want Intel to succeed in the market, but they need us to buy one, I fear the lack of sales will doom the project to abandonment. If you are looking for a mid-level GPU, give it a try and report any issues to Intel as the more data they have the faster the fixes come.

I believe the big is due to having dual monitors, one plugged into displayport and one HDMI. When going to sleep the HDMI seems to disconnect and when waking the HDMI reconnects. This normally does not cause me any issue, except when connected to Citrix virtual desktop. Since the HDMI monitor disconnects, the Citrix receiver removes the second monitor and shuffles the windows to the primary monitor.

Just keep using the intel arc forum forms to report issues when it comes to games and other software if you want fixes, but overall it seems to be a decent budget card, temporary until prices lower, until next Arc gpu or otherwise
