The problem many musicians have with hearing chords is that they don't know what to listen for? In this video, I take several great-sounding gospel musicians and find out their chords by ear quickly using this unique technique. Do I specifically train my ear to recognize chords and scales? Well, not quite... but I do listen for one type of powerful chord...

This is the stuff Bill Evans used to do routinely. It's a minimalist, harmonic style of playing that you can take from Jazz, and play very effectively in Gospel.
