Susan, we're you at my daughter's house this wek?? Ha, Ha! The conversation we had was so like what you were describing about the world seeing us "grandmothers" in a certain way or how they perceive we should be. I love my grandchildren beyond words but, I am not only "Grandma"! My daughter prints on tee shirts, sweatshirts etc. She says" Do you want a sweatshirt? Yes of course! So she says what do you want on it? I wanted my name , my name the world calls me on the pocket area. She says Why would you want that? The kids other Grandmother has me put something about being a Nana on everything she orders. I looked at her like who are u and Saud Darling I love being Gammy but Gammy is not my whole identity! I'm still Ballery !! Just because you become a grandmother or have been for 18 years doesn't mean you stopped being a woman. Yes I want the world to know I'm a grandmother but I also want the world to know I'm a woman with a full other identity also! Okay that's my grandmother rant for today ! Oh yea, and my name is Ballery !😂

This was very deep and very wise...we are so many things to so many people...not just " one" thing! We have to be the girl we always were...that sort of hit me this week. I LOVE being Grandma!! But I am not the little old lady on TV screaming about my Medicare....and I could see where we have to be careful to strike a true balance between the woman we are,..the woman we were and the woman we still strive to be! No titles...just living large and free!!! Love to you! Susan & Dez

Susan, listen and listen good. You are a beautiful woman with smooth skin who I could not possibly age if I didn't know your age, but it would definitely not be over 65. Secondly, you are one of the too few who have made your mark on the world. You have brought comfort to thousands of people with your channel and love into the lives of your family and friends (including Desi). Please don't despair about getting older (even though I do). Everyone is lucky to have you. You are a pleasure to have around and a pleasure to look at. My friend is so jealous of your hair and I love your beautiful face, dress sense and honesty. My health has declined from autoimmune disease, I sold my house and moved closer to my daughter because of my disability. My boyfriend died last March and my best friend did too same month. 😢 It's too much change and loss. I feel so utterly defeated and lost. Why does life have to be so hard. Maybe in time I will adjust but seeing our world in so much chaos scares me. It's hard to get old and see life change!! Thanks to u and Desi for being there❤

Grandmothers are not the same as grandmothers of years ago. I am a grandmother and have been for almost 29 years. But... I worked up until 4 years ago. Years ago, grandmothers usually didn't work outside of the home. Now grandmothers are strong vibrant women. At least that's how I feel. I may not look it, but that's how I feel. I don't know how to feel old. I've never been this age before. And on my next birthday I'll be 80. How does an old lady act? I'm just the same me as I've always been. The body is slowing down, but the mind id still going. ❤

I'm italian raised in italy . Here we love pasta and bread as you all know but many years ago i spent two weeks in croatia , in a little village on the sea front . I rent a tiny house and the owner proposed me to let her cook for me twice a day for a small sum of money . She served everyday a generous portion of fresh fish caught by her elderly father and plenty of vegetable fom her garden .no bread , no rice ,no crackers . I have never felt better in my life . My body and my brain were energized . This is my experience . I came back to italy and got back to my old way of eating . Now i'm sixty and would like to change my lifestyle . i'm not overweight but i feel intoxicated if very seldom i eat certain foods like sweets , fried or greasy. I'm reading all the comments and learning a lot .thanks to susan and all of you .ciao from venice italy .

I try to dance to these songs, I do ok but can't do certain steps like squatting way down or last thru the song. Get tired and winded quicker.

Go Susan!!! I agree with you so much! Just because we turn 70 or 70 plus doesn't mean we are going to wither up and become a shadow of who we are! I still think sex, looking my best, having new adventures and not acting like someone's idea of a little old granny keeps me vibrant and interesting. My 94 year old Mom thinks so too (well, perhaps not the sex part 😂)! And everyone cannot eat the same way either! All of us have unique differences. I too do better when I don't eat meat. But I also don't eat sugar. My body is unique to me. I have a friend who thrives on Keto and another who is doing great as a vegan. I respect their uniqueness and they respect mine. I think the problem is some people see us as the Grandma who was young in the thirties, forties or even before that. They don't see us as someone who wore mini skirts, someone who protested the Vietnam war, who loved heavy metal music while enjoying the Everley Brothers, or conquered space travel, etc. We were at our prime in the sixties, seventies, or eighties. *👴👵The people they see in us were our grandparents, not us.*

Every time I see an old man/woman I think they they were young people once and I'm gonna talk to them like they still are, just because they are 80/90yrs doesn't mean we have to talk to them in a way that they are no longer needed in this world and that they are done for and no use to society anymore, I treat them like they are still here and deserve to be spoken to in a way they are still wanted/ needed for as long as possible with respect, my friend is 92 and feels lonely and that doctors think she isn't worth bothering about because OF HER AGE,it's so sad I visit her often to cheer her up and take her a treat, happy birthday Desi you look wonderful for 10yrs old have you been using your mama's face oils/ creams 😂❤ hugs Elaine u.k.

It’s a hoot, and has helped my painful body feel much better. Oh, and the water is warm! Try it!

Hi Susan, you are such a light and inspiration to me, but, ooops, your doctor is ignorant. I've been carnivore , all animal based foods, for six months .Hi blood pressure gone, no more prilosec, or allegra much, much better outlook and attitude concerning life and much younger looking skin and thicker hair. Because animal based is all whole food, no addictives, its the best elimination diet, to see, as you add things back, what is affecting your health. You should try it for 3months and see how you feel. I've tried all diets, none worked because, I believe, I'm carb addictive, cravings never stopped, until now. This is amazing. I forgot to mention, arthritis pain is much less and at 62 I've lost 28 pds and counting. Thank you so much for your wisdom and joyful life outlook. You are so good for me!

Susan, you hit on what has to be my biggest issue with aging. It's not the fact that I'm getting older, it's the fact that people have such a stereotype about how women should look, sound, act, and feel as they get older. You certainly do not fit that stereotype, and neither do so many women I know. Yes, there are some women out there who have given up on themselves, and that makes me sad. But that isn't the truth for so many of us. OUR truth is that we are strong, vibrant, relevant women who still have a lot to offer this world. I applaud you for spreading that message, and it's my mission to do the same. It's always such a pleasure to spend a little time with you and Desi!

I have to say Desi is my love behind my cat princess. Watching him in the yard just warms my heart. Answering your question is something I use to be more lax on. Being honest and reliable. I had someone who blew me off in April and I hadn't heard from since them Friday there was a phone message from her letting me know she's moving near me. I'm sorry but I'm 61 and friends are sparse. But I do have a standard that I need my buddies to be honest if they can't follow thru and be reliable to a point. I stood that ground with the gal who called Fri. No more.
Strength but also forgiveness, Suzanne. Maybe she didn't blow you off. But rather, something happened in her life and she was just broken and is now recovering. She did reach out...

I’m 65 this year 2025 since turning 60 the change in attitude towards me has changed radically and all because of a number it’s crazy. Literally overnight I was spoken too in that slightly slower voice like I don’t understand what your saying it’s like the youth switch was suddenly turned of and I’m supposed to be waiting for God to end it all. And it seems to be worse because I’m single too I have children but let’s just say the men I had in my life when having them changed their minds and left without looking back. No conscious uncoupling and great duel parenting for us more of a judgement on them than me. As an only child there’s no siblings and nieces and nephews etc it’s also hard to nigh on impossible when your a full time carer I have no prospect for a social life and feel like a fish out of water if I do get time out. So coming here to escape is such a lovely thing Susan you and everyone in the comments keep me going at my lowest points it’s a wonderful resource to have. Thank you all

I am going to be 63 in January, but I feel about 73 these days. My skin has very suddenly started aging and I look about 5 years older than I am. I am in a very difficult season of life that is not going to change for a long time and I felt like the stress was killing me and aging me. I am trying to work through some difficult emotions while improving my lifestyle through diet and exercise to help stop this rapid decline in my health and looks. I have cut way down on sugar, alcohol, caffeine, simple carbs and most processed foods and I limit meat to a very small portion each day. It's not as much fun, but I hope it helps. By the way, I saw that ad for Medicare and found it offensive. The men in Medicare commercials are usually handsome and well-dressed, while the women are made out to be old hags or something. Maybe it's supposed to be funny but I don't appreciate it. It sends the wrong message.

Look forward to your visit every Saturday night!! Just got a wonderful compliment from a cashier on Friday, she said I had the most beautiful skin, asked if my parents had good skin… I thanked her for the wonderful compliment.. told her I use Ponds cleanser, witch hazel and Oil of Olay… I’m gonna keep the same plan.. once a month or so I use the apricot scrub from St Ives…

Aww Happy Birthday handsome Desi❤️ I’m 70 years old and I get complimented on how I look and my skin. I don’t have many wrinkles. No crows feet at all. I have been vegetarian for 34 years and became Vegan 7 years ago. It’s so true that meat and dairy cause inflammation. I don’t conform to what people think a 70 year old should dress or act like. I walk 6-7 miles at least 5 days per week , I have skydived at 69 years of age, still snorkel and am just active. I dress sexy but classy. My granddaughters love how I look and they love that I’m so active😊❤️

I hate that Medicare commercial! Whenever it comes on, my husband knows to immediately mute or change the channel. Where did they find her? Not in any of my friends neighborhoods. LOL. Happy Birthday Desi, you cute little man, we all love you so much. As far as the facial care goes, everyone is different, what works for one doesn't work for all, mostly genetics play the more important part. All the You Tubers say their products are the best ones. I'm prone to skin cancers so my dermatologist says to use only Neutrogena products with sunscreen, I do and I also use rose hip and pumpkin seed oils. I see him twice a year and he says my skin is great, very healthy and I'm a happy young 74. Love you Susan!

Hi Susan and happy birthday Desi 🎉. I immediately put the black pearl eye patches in my order on Amazon. Thanks so much for the info. Then I thought should I mention this...then I thought I have to it's Desi's birthday. Dogs live half as long as they used to and have the highest cancer rate in the world since kibble hit the market also yearly shots cause cancer. Monthly chemicals cause seizures. Dogs are 99.9% wolf every breed and thrive on animal protein. For my dog Happy I boil chicken and gizzards or lightly cook hamburger some eggs or fish then I add a few greens with liquid vitamins and minerals. Most treats are garbage. Desi looks incredibly healthy but just in case ,...I had to pass on what I've discovered. I think I would have run out of subjects years ago but every week your like a breath of fresh air and Desi is a little gem. ❤Diane

Yes put those boxwoods in the ground!!! Yes I use my pumpkin seed and rosehip seed daily on damp skin for absorption....!!! Thanks for the tip on your new cleanser I'll try it !!! Your skin just glows!!! Sue I am 75 years old have been watching you for years... I want to let you know that it is normal to have down days.... There are days I don't want to get out of my PJs, I just want a cup of tea and my blankie and curl up on the couch and watch movies !!!! And on those days I feel very unsociable!!! This doesn't happen weekly, but maybe bimonthly....I just feel I've earned a quite alone day now & then at my age,. I can solve everyone's problems tomorrow ❤❣️ on these days I also stay away from all News...it's always depressing & out of my control to change it....

The 1 tried and true old habit that I developed and never miss is my annual dermatology visit where I get a whole body skin exam. Old habits that I gave up were going down the rabbit hole of products that are constantly bombarded on us by social media. I also consult with my derm and my esthetician on a simplified skin care routine that is best for me and my budget. I do get a really good facial every 3 months with a licensed esthetician who specializes in aging skin care. I'm 68 yo and both of my "skin specialists" say I have near flawless skin. And the best thing is most all the products I use are around $20 or less. Diet changes and drinking at least 32 oz of water daily has contributed greatly to the process as well.

Susan, you are a comfort to many, every week, and I am grateful. If you were merely beautiful, as you are, creative, as you are, I might follow you to see your lovely home but it is your warmth, gentleness, your ability to laugh at yourself, your authenticity and the comfort you offer every week that has me looking forward to Saturday evenings. Thank you for being you! Happy B’day to Desi. From Susan and Dewi

Susan, I love your channel and follow you. This particular video has some concerns. You have stated some things that are incorrect. Retin-A (tretinoin) DOES NOT CLOG PORES. retinol is the gold standard of anti-aging skin care. You should not be getting your dermalogical advice from your eye doctor. Using retinol does not cause dry eyes. Please see a board-certified dermatologist for accurate information. As for facial oils, it only lay on the top surface of the skin and does not penetrate the skin. It is made to seal in the moisture already there. For example, you would use a moisturizer first that does penetrate the skin and seal it with an oil, if you choose to use one. Facial oils do not penetrate to our cells and do not “trick” your cells into behaving younger. Retin-A or tretinoin does penetrate to the cells and encourages and promotes collagen, production, and exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin. I am soon to be 59 years old and have been using tretinoin, the prescription strength, Retin-A for almost 20 years. My age has been guessed in early 40s at most. Again Susan, I adore your channel. It gives me much pleasure to view it, but I strongly urge you to put out only content that is accurate. There are a lot of people that follow you and look up to you and you want to be sure that you are being accurate in your information. Take good care.

Hi Susan, Sometimes when people become vegetarian or vegan, they do not know they need to supplement with vitamin B12 & D. A lack of these two vitamins can cause anemia. Everyone’s body reacts differently. There is no one size fits all. Meat works great for some folks & some of us cannot assimilate it. You seem to be good at listening to your body. Thank you for the glycolic acid products. At 69, I cannot use Retin A anymore either. I look forward to trying these products. Bless your dear heart once again.❤️❤️❤️Much love to you & Desi.

I think about my grandma and her skin routine. She had beautiful skin. Wash with a face cloth, and use oil of ulan moisturiser (now Olay). That’s it. Now I’m a grandma too I’m all about protecting my skin barrier… and I think she was on to something. No stripping products, the warm face cloth to cleanse with is enough of a exfoliation for me. I use a face oil and a sunscreen and a basic moisturiser and I am loving the simplicity ❤

Happy birthday Desi….the most adorable little fellow. Love his Halloween ears 💙 Wonderful photography Susan…simply stunning. I’m 71 and use everything available to keep looking my best. The best eye cream and lip cream ….in my opinion are from an Australian brand called Alpha H….I use the day moisturiser too containing factor 50. I’m in the uk so not sure if it’s available in u.s but worth a try if you can get it.👍 You’re looking amazing Susan and your attitude is very positive and that will keep you young and current. God bless you both until next week 🌸

Hey Susan. I've already ordered the eye patches and the glycolic acid face wash. Thanks for the recommendations. I've been making hyaluronic acid serum and vitamin C serum with ingredients from "Making Cosmetics" for a long time but I'm ready for something different. I just read a lot of these comments and am so pleased to know so many women our age still feel vibrant, pretty, and energetic and get mistaken for being much younger than their chronological age because of exactly that vibe. This is my tribe and I'm happy to be part of it. I am amazed that somebody would correct you for talking about sex. We're still alive, right? I hope you have a better week coming up and thanks for being so transparent about your ups and downs. We're all having 'em. Sending love and hugs. xo karen

Happy Birthday to Desi! You are giving him a very good life, full of love and attention. (Hope he didn’t actually eat the chocolate cupcake though.) I had a similar negative reaction to that stupid commercial and how it stereotypes older women and makes us look out of touch and uninformed. Maybe women like us need to speak up and let these advertisers know we don’t appreciate it.

Little Poet, Thank you for saying what you said at the end of your video. I am 68 and I am who I am because of the life I've led, not some old woman, but a vibrant caring mature woman who believes in Love and living every day to the fullest! Being a widow for 10 years has taught me that life still has surprises! Thank you for the skin care tips. I'll be on Amazon after I post this comment. I refuse to sit in a housecoat, stop caring about my appearance, and hide away in my home watching TV. You are an inspiration!

Loved your video! You have inspired me to take better care of my skin over the past few years! Ladies... please remember that television and magazines are specifically designed to promote propaganda. If we all feel terrible about ourselves and worthless after we turn 30 years old...well... just think about how much we have all invested in the beauty, health and weight loss industries over the years, and still we question how we should look and feel. We are all beautiful. Blessings to all!!!

To me, being content and calm is the best thing I can do for myself. Stress does cause disruptions in body processes and stress is a factor in many diseases. The skin thins and we lose muscle mass and structure as we age. So do what you feel comfortable doing and don't stress about the commentors who disagree and/or try to "correct" you. My Aussie rescue is 10 this year too. She's such a beautiful, sweet girl. Happy birthday Desi.

I have been using the same skin care regiment since I was in my 20's. I'm now in my 70's and it still works for me. The market became too glutted and confusing with products ,so since what I used was working well, I stuck with it. Advertising needs to get a grip on what's happening out there. We don't look like old grandmothers in housecoats! My mother never did either!
