I can not believe your video this week is on Nuface. I just started using it a few weeks ago and suddenly in the middle of the night, my right eye began twitching...the twitching then turned to intense nerve PAIN, that pulsed every few seconds for FOUR DAYS snd kept me awake each night. It coincided with deep eye pressure that still has not completely left. I finally went to see my doctor who put me on Gabapentin and told me to stop using the device and see a neurologist to rule any other issue out in case it wasn't related to the device. I also went to an ENT to see if it might be sinus related. My sinuses were completely clear. Only today have I been feeling a little relief. I also had experienced swelling of the glands in my neck. I guess there are a lot of people who do not have issues...but this has been awful for me personally. If anyone is thinking of using it, I would suggest they ask a doctor first and to start on a low setting. I won't be using mine again. THANK YOU for sharing your story and your honesty. ❤️ I can't even look at my phone or read without pain now...and pray it eventually subsides.

@@jo-anna1477 yes I took gabapentin dropped my sodium levels dangerously low to heart attack. Any dizziness is cardiac related also eye twitching is high blood pressure or lack of sleep. Swelling glands thyroid or stones. Have your dr keep testing for answers. I go to neurologist soon after more blood work for more diagnosis first.

I have been on keto for 4 years. For me it has been the best thing. I am 60 and 4’11”, it has help me control my weight and pre-diabetes. Basically cut the crap (as in food), I don’t eat large amounts of meat. I eat between 1100-1200 cals a day. I eat above ground veggies and berries. It is true that I can’t eat potatoes, bread and pasta but those item are basically sugar bombs. It is the sugar that will kill you. Keto is about balance. Avoid the fast food restaurants. Eat whole foods- that said, you are right it isn’t for everyone.

I agree. Not everyone has the willpower to eat small portions of food. Also, carbs set up a craving for more carbs. Millions of people with type ll diabetes got there from eating a high carbohydrate diet. I eat grass fed beef and organic fruits and vegetables. Very low carb. I'm in my early 70's and feel great.

Totally agree with your keto approach! The carbs are the worst thing as it translates to sugar with a higher glycemic index. If you must have that bread I heard from Dr Berg the best approach is to freeze it first and then toast it, rather than having a fresh loaf where the sugar will get a simulated into the blood quicker than if it was frozen bread that's been toasted. Above ground foods for sure and I do have a Mediterranean diet and practice intermittent fasting @63

Because I have MS (which affects nerves), a few types of chronic migraine, and neuralgias that occur on my face and around my ears, I wasn’t willing to consider using micro current devices. Your experiences prove that I was right to avoid them. Thank you for sharing. And I’m so sad that you went through them. The older I get (65 now), the more I’m interested in pleasing myself rather than others. And that’s a huge change for me. In my early life, I was a model, dancer, singer, actress. My worth in the beauty and entertainment industries was predicated on my looks-face, hair, body size and shape. It was extremely damaging. I’m still controlled by it to a larger degree than I like to admit. But some hugely life-altering events made me confront my self-image and re-examine what’s important to me. I think it’s important to not let others define us, not to live up to a standard that we don’t choose.

You are like a long lost friend for my soul! I am so grateful that I stumbled across your KZbin, and now I’m a loyal follower! Because had I not I would’ve NEVER known that all of the symptoms I was experiencing were due to vitamin A toxicity…. It makes sense why my eyebrows grew back after I stopped using Retin-A and the cracks healed at the sides of my mouth, finally! I had multiple doctors visits because they were so painful! Nothing the Drs prescribed for those cracks worked! I experienced almost every symptom you listed! I went through a lifesaving and life-changing divorce and just got lackadaisical with my skin care routine and forgot to fill my prescription for Retin-A… And magically the symptoms have disappeared! Thank you again💕💕

I’m 72 and fair skinned but don’t have too many wrinkles but you know I earned every one of them! As we age we do have to adjust our diet to keep up our immune system as things begin to slow down and everyone is different! We need to break the habit of comparing. We were made to be individuals. Confidence shows how you feel about yourself and how you feel is your business…not what a magazine says, not someone’s opinion because it doesn’t matter. Growing old is a gift, growing old gracefully is a choice. Thank you so much for this for this video, great information. Please take great care and enjoy your many blessings! See you next week 😉

I am fairly new to your channel. This information you shared on the dangers of anti-aging tools was one of your most informative. I had no idea that these products could do that much harm. I think that what we have to realize is that we are getting older and even though we would like to maintain our youthful looks, it is taking more energy to keep that up. I too am 67 and live in Michigan north of Detroit and have decided that the best thing we can do is to get physically active, eat good food and get a good nights sleep and I think we will be fine.

I have to say for me Keto has been a life saver. I never lived on big hunks of meat etc. I ate lots of salads with Ranch dressing, avocado (good fat) I did eat meat but I also ate eggs and other things. Blue berries and black berries. I never lacked. I was no longer pre-diabetic and my blood pressure was almost normal. I had tons of energy but....but...I CRAVED anything I didn't eat so that one day a week cheat that I allowed myself became a week of cheat....I still never gained all of the weight back. I am guessing your Dr. didn't look at your diet first. My Dr did check my plan and said give it a try. It was for my health though not to look any certain way. We all know that loose skin isn't what society thinks of as pretty. I still just use my good ole Noxzema! My hooded eyes are inherited...nothing but surgery will fix that but...ahh not worth it. I am just a simple country girl. It is the stress and anxiety that has kicked my butt. You just need to do what is right for you. Brightest blessings to you and that gangsta Desi!

Life saver in what way? Weight? Just because someone is thin doesn't mean they are healthy. Ranch dressing is the culprit not the salads. Doctors only get an hour or two of nutrition in their years and years of training. Any woman who has been on multiple diets knows more about nutrition than the average doctor.

I am 76 and have been on keto for 3 years now and have never felt better. I understand it can be difficult for some people and not suitable for others, but it has truly helped me in so many ways. I did initially lose weight and inches, but the primary goal was to alleviate inflammation and lower my blood pressure which I have done. I too am on no medication except for aspirin and vitamins, but I do use MCT oil every day for mental clarity, electrolytes (coconut water) and a boost of energy, Your body never got out of the transition phase, so sadly you did not experience the satiation and peace that comes without the daily ups and downs of our typical American diets. I also do IF most days 16/8 and am seldom hungry. I have not had a bout of diverticulitis which I had suffered from periodically before and no longer have the skin rashes, herpes or other irritations I used to get which I realized was primarily caused by my diet. I have reduced inflammation in my joints by about 85% at the very least and am still feeling fit and active. There definitely are some drawbacks to using it on a regular basis as getting sufficient fiber is sometimes an issue and sometimes eating out can be difficult, but overall, I am glad I started and hope to continue it as a lifestyle for some time to come.

Keto has been my life saver too. Apart from the weight loss, my cholesterol, BP and blood sugar are normal, and I have a whole host of other health benefits. These include not developing diabetes, and less risk of developing alzheimer's. One issue I would have with your post though, is you can't be in ketosis if you have a cheat day. Eating carbs will instantly kick you out of ketosis.

Wow, what an inspiring and honest video! I’m 75 and use a NuFACE with no problems, luckily … I got mine because I wanted to look less tired and less dark and angry, neither of which I am. But you’re so right, what we women spend looking for the fountain of youth is something to think about. Had I known about the NuFACE risks, I never would have purchased it since I have had a mild heart attack. So thank you for all the points we need to consider. ❤️❤️❤️

This was a "good one" because it is causing us to look at ourselves, our motivations, our self esteem that lies beneath the beauty. I don't like the "look" of sagging, discolored aging skin especially jowls. I use some of these Retinol products and never realized that my dry eye may be caused by it. Fortunately, I don't do anything religiously or routinely so I guess that helped. But I thank you for letting me know. I have taken a lot of pictures of elders and my friends. I always do many takes since I tell them it's always about the lighting. So we can maximize our best pics through proper lighting, smiling and maybe some lipstick for color. Regarding the self esteem issue, I suggest that you start listening to LIZZO in interviews and her lyrics. She is very empowering and teaching us to love ourselves. Positive affirmations are the best firming!

I also want to share that sleep apnea can lead to irregular heart beat , high blood pressure etc . It happened to me . If you think you might have sleep apnea please see a doctor . I love your videos. They brighten up my Saturdays. Age gracefully, confidently, and happily. I agree with you about the side effects that you mentioned. I tried Keto and read many books, watched videos, but I gained weight and my belly was larger. I just couldn’t digest so much fat and meats. Moderation is key. Low carb diets seem to make people be very moody. I think exercises that help us be mobile and flexible are important. Low stress-high happiness lifestyle is helpful as well, but having a strong faith and prayer life is key. Stay connected with other people and have a good routine that keeps you on track and not sitting and ruminating too much. I hope everyone out there has someone in their life that loves them just they way they are. Wrinkles and all. ♥️

Being on keto has helped me so much. We are all different and our nutritional needs are different. Following a keto diet has allowed me to get off insulin. MY A1C. IS 5.5. And has remained so for several years. I really watch my carbs. I Make my own meals. Avoid ingesting oils that cause inflamation. And Stay away from that bad boy Sugar.. I do not feel deprived I feel food is our fuel and building blocks. What maybe for one is not for others. I respect that you have found that sweet spot in your life style. You emit confidence, beauty and an appreciation for life. and for yourself. I too respect what I have found for myself. ( Getting older has a way of helping us get in touch with ourselves) I am 71 - oh an FYI just eating a big hunk of meat is not for me. I have never used any devices on my face, and have always been been reticent about using retina- a products. I have noticed as I have gotten older - skincare I used to use is too strong and aggressive for me now. I think it is important to have individual awareness and pay attention to that inner voice. Thank you for your insights and sharing with all of us.

This was a special one for me…I am 63 and have for the past few years tried everything out there on the market to work on defying aging. I figure I’ve been exercising/working out for over 45 years now and want my face to keep up. But your video reminds me that that power comes from within and the attitude you own. The music at the end was haunting and beautiful, as well as some of the pictures you showed. And we all figured out that Desi ate that last bit of your leftovers! Thank you for this, so appreciated.

This video hit home today. I cancelled my hair appointment next week and I am finally going to grow my natural hair color out (which is gray}. I have been getting highlights and keeping my hair blonde forever. I will meet with my hairdresser in November to get a trim and she said she can tone my blonde down it I want. I really feel good about my decision. I am not even sure what color gray my hair is, but time will tell. Great video Susan.

I am right there with you. After 59 years of coloring my hair, I decided a few months ago that I am DONE. I have let it grow out enough to see that I am 90% silvery gray…not that pretty bright white color I’d hoped it would be. But no matter…this Tuesday, I am having it cut pretty short. I will have to deal with two-toned hair for a little while. So be it. And so what if I look older? I AM older and wiser and more content and more curious than I have ever been. Now, I will also be grayer than I have ever admitted to, and that’s okay..! I agree with everyone who has commented that this is one of the best videos Susan has ever done.

I completely believe you on the face twitching, years ago I tried something similar that was from Suzanne Sommers, it was called Face Master and the electric current made the muscles in my face twitch so bad I had to go on nerve medication to calm them down. It took weeks to go away it was so awful. I also tried the Roc retinol on my face and neck and it peeled and burned so bad, I had chapped lips for 2 weeks!! Now I just stick to more natural serums and oils and I find my skin responds to those much better!

The first time I used Stri-Vectin cream, within minutes my face turned bright red and felt like my skin was on fire. I washed my face, but it didn’t help much. I called my insurance company’s nurse who is on call, and she advised me to go to the emergency room! She said allergic reactions can be very serious. Well, I didn’t go, but over the next week by skin peeled off dramatically. I would never use it again. I know other people who loved it, but it was a very painful experience for me.

Being happy us a true art, after all the adventures we as women have been on! Too many to list, but we all know the list. I am sorry you had a negative experience with NuFace. I have been using NuFace for 7 years, and yes it has been working for me. Of course, I haven’t sat out in the sun for 40 years, I don’t drink liquor and have never smoked. I do care care of my skin and body, but have learned to be happy and so grateful for what I have. Yes, I am 71 and the happiest I have ever been. If we all can have self esteem and confidence and be able to laugh at ourselves, we will survive this media crush of youth! We all have birthdays, and we get smarter every year. Powerful video Susan...super informative, transparent, and helpful:). And it resonates so personally with me. I recently decided this past year, to no longer dye my hair and to let my grey just bloom, and goodness gracious, it REALLY bloomed:)! Came in full fledged silver:). About 80 percent or more of my hair is now grey and I'm only 55. But when I tell you, I feel such an amazing sense of freedom, and joy...oh my goodness, it's wonderful and powerful:) LOL:)... And I find myself thinking, why in the world did I take so long to be at peace with what my hair was letting me know it wanted to do? My hair is healthier, grows quicker, and it looks distinguished on me. I have had grey hair growing since age 22, and had been dying it up until last year. Now that I have discovered freedom, I don't plan to ever go back to dying it. What price beauty?Freedom. I was sacrificing my freedom. But now that I've gained it, I'm remaining free:). Thank Goodness:)! Hope you and Desi have an amazing evening and upcoming week and thanks so much again for your awesome video:) 🎀🙏🎀

Three years later I try to keep low carb but not as strictly as before. I think the point is managing to keep a normal blood sugar all day which worked for me.I’m 66 and lost my sugar cravings by going keto I did gain 12 pounds back but developed a way to eat better. I had botox around my eyes for crows feet and it looked horrid. The skin near my eyes dropped down. When it was wearing off I had a twitch in my right eye. I went to the eye Dr. and he said that more botox would help the twitch. I did not get more botox and after many months the twitch went away. We need older women modeling makeup and clothing. Neiman Marcus as an example has older women as their clients, but consistently use 18 year old models. It needs to stop.

Thanks for sharing this video Susan. I’ve fallen into that trap, wanting to look younger, afraid of aging or not aging well. About 7 years ago I decided that I “needed” Botox and fillers to smooth out some of the lines and sagging skin. I remember waking up swollen I called my doctor but by the time I reached his office everything was back to normal. This happened a few more times and of course the entire office thought something was wrong with me and not the procedure I had done. Well one morning I woke up swollen and looking like I’d been hit by a truck. I called the doctor who asked me to send him a picture. A few moments later he called to tell me he was coming straight over to my home. I’d had a reaction to the Botox or fillers we never found out which. It took me about 6 months for things to settle down. I still feel like I have a few lumps on my face that weren’t there prior to the injections. We only hear about the good results not the negative things that can happen. Needless to say…never again. Although, I did in fact purchase a Nuface! 🙏🏻😊

I see beauty influencers using the Nuface, and thought it’s not for me, because it’s only a temporary effect, unless used daily, and I know myself well enough that I wouldn’t stick with it, but never considered the side serous effects that aren’t talked about. I suffer with depression & anxiety, and wondering if using Retinal (a little stronger than Retinol), is making my condition worse ? I’ll be looking more into it, thanks to you. I’m not happy with what I see in the mirror these days, but if I could get my mental health in check, maybe that wouldn’t bother me so much. 🤔 Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a magic pill that could turn back time, with no side effects !! Once in Italy I saw a striking woman of 60+ walk into a park and quietly sit on a bench that was backed up to a wall - not front & center. Her hair was straight long grey & she wore simple jeans & light blue top. EVERYONE felt her presence & turned around to see her, people couldn’t take their eyes off her. She just had a magical presence & simple beauty. I stood and watched this bizarre power she had captivate everyone who passed by - more so than the spectacular vista people were there to see! Since I’m now 63 w/ grey/white hair, I’ve grown it long and wear it proudly! And, must say, have more compliments on my hair than at any other time in my life- I think it’s a combo of aged confidence plus making the most of what you’ve been given, that makes a woman exceptionally appealing. 🍎

There is nothing I would do to make myself look better, and potentially hurt my health. Watching carbs works for me, but I am talking 50 to 90 per day. I don't do without anything I enjoy. Retin A is my friend right now. I've never had an issue, or even a slight symptom of dry eye, or other issues. Vit. A, along with D E & K are fat soluble, and can build up in the body. Happy you brought the symptoms of toxicity up. Loved the story of Bill and the women with the black silk blouse!! Love to you, and The Dez....MaryEllen

I have been on a moderate keto diet for one and half years now, I haven't indulged in large amounts of fat or meat or bacon, but eat lots of salad, and berries, veggies and moderate amounts of protein the first year I lost 22 lbs, my A1-C# came down, my cholesterol went down and I feel wonderful and look much better. Now in my second year I have introduced more fruits and some carbs back and I'm o.k. One should not risk the most precious gift we have our health, great video Sus, everyone needs to do their homework on what they are going to use, great that you shared your experience, now let's hope all women give the same attention to the primers and lotions and foundations that are using. Everything in moderation do it all that is my motto, 70 is fabulous beautiful intriguing sexy yes it's all about ATTITUDE! That's it for me I just do my best Sus, I use bronzer and mascara sometimes eyeshadow and all-natural skincare, I slather on the attitude. Dezi if Mom left it out it was fair game, hope it was yummy you didn't look guilty :) Hugs X2 ❣️❣️

Keto was awful for me. My cholesterol went up. I didn’t lose much weight and felt terrible. It also went way out of my comfort zone eating those super high fat foods, that to me taste and look awful. And yes I think moderation is best. I teach Pilates for women in our age range. My goals for them are keeping posture looking great, flexibility and strength for wonderful movement, and being active with the bodies they have. Not super flat abs, or Kim K booty. And my body is not perfect. I just try to stay the healthiest I can and let my confidence shine.

That list you gave for the retinol, vitamin A side effects, I have about half those things on that list! Also i am right there with you about diet. I could never give up my fresh fruits and vegetables. I am 64 and have knee and back troubles, but I just had my cortisone shots in my knees which helps a lot for about 6 weeks so thats when I need to get my exercise in. Thanks so much. I was getting cortisone shots in my knees until they were no longer effective. I had to have knee replacements because I found the cortisone depleted my bones. The knee replacements were challenging, but I can now walk without pain and am able to stand. I was unable to stand very long before I had the knee replacements. They will not be like your own knees but you will be relieved of pain when walking and standing. I had my surgeries in 2013 and 2014 and I’ve heard there are new procedures since then which might be helpful.

Susan, I am so very glad I ran across your video today, about the warnings you have talked about concerning some of the new "gadgets" and creams aimed at looking younger! I never thought 70 would happen as soon as it has! I have always been blessed with needing very little make-up and with my high energy personality---I like being able to grab my bag and be out the door within a 15 minute time span! But extreme stress has caused alot of damage to my face & body that I don't know how to go about improving. I, like you, am not willing to risk what good health I have left, and of course I have never before needed to know about the different things on the market for this purpose---and it is scary! It all seemed to hit me just about 2-3yrs ago. I believe in my heart that there is SOMETHING that will improve my looks---I just don't know yet what that may be. I had been wanting to try something with Retinol in it---but was too afraid to! My skin care has always been quick, simple and natural products. This is somewhat new to me with so many harmful substances being put into our products now! Not long ago I purchased a well known "instant lift" product and was alarmed to discover it includes magnesium aluminum silicate---which does not sound safe to me. So I just keep trying---one product after another after another! Too, I have never been very concerned about what people think of me as long as I am true to myself---not at all in an arrogant way, I am just a loving Aries true to my nature. I want people to love me for WHO I AM and don't want to waste time with people who have negative ulterior motives that would entangle me. I have always been meticulous about my clothes and appearance---and I have always experienced such a feeling of SATISFACTION after having studied out beforehand just how to put myself together, that made me feel happy when I walked out the door---then didn't give it a second thought except to enjoy it! It was very LIBERATING, with nothing to fuss about! I especially love the Mabelline foundation commercial from a couple years ago---where a tall sophisticated female model, well into her sixties, is applying her make-up when a voice begins talking, saying that: "some women get to the age where they stop caring about what they look like". And then the 60 something yr. old model with a slight French accent says: "Gee, I wonder what age that might be"? Thank You Susan for passing on your valuable knowledge to protect us---you are beautiful, inside and out! It is what I love about you---you are AUTHENTIC! NEVER CHANGE THAT about yourself! MERRY CHRISTMAS---to you and yours!!

Thank you Susan for your words of caution. I think facial twitching would be just dreadful to live with and I hope yours goes away real soon. At 70 years of age it is an adjustment to look in the mirror sometimes. One never thinks of themselves as old but the mirror doesn't lie. Learning to be content with each age is important. We will never be our young selves again but will hopefully age with grace. You and Dezi are the best!!!

Hi Susan, your video is so enlightening. Thanks. I was 62 yesterday. I am ashamed to say that I hate getting older. Don't get me wrong, I was never a natural beauty, but always liked to look attractive. Yes I would take a pill to make me look younger. I am on HRT even though it thickens the lining of my womb and makes me bleed. I have just started on tretinoin and also have dry eye (which I treat with drops). I have given up sugar (which apparently is one of the worst agers) I also wear sunscreen all year long. I like you and Melissa as I feel you are both a bit like me, maybe kindred spirits xx

I have five years on you and wanted to say, never feel guilted about wanting to look your best! It's not a matter of ''looking young'', in my opinion, but would you be proud and happy about letting your home go to seed, or your yard, or?? Every material thing needs maintenance, including our bodies. The majority of people in our age group have let themselves go, given up, look faded, gray and invisible. This is nothing to be proud about, anymore than the other extreme of chasing every new surgery etc.

Hey Susan that’s a great video. I want you to know though that 2 1/2 months ago I started the keto diet not for the purpose of losing weight but because my A1c numbers I was prediabetic and I do not want to turn into a diabetic. I never did get the keto flu. I have never felt better than I do now on this diet. I’ve lost 21 pounds. I eat better than I ever did and there’s nothing that I cannot have. Every kind of candy bar and dessert you could what is available in keto, And I use Monk fruit sweetener. Anyway it’s working perfectly for me for my A1c levels. I love your videos and I love little Desi. Take care and God bless you! PS, I don’t think I ever mentioned to you that last year in February my husband and I adopted a little York Shire and we named him Cooper. From your videos the name Cooper for your dog and the name Desi were the two that I had to choose from I just love those names. So yes we now have a Cooper along with our Sophia❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🌹

@@tribbles2955 Keto has been beneficial for a lot of people, and I'm glad it works for you, but it is not for everyone. I've had success on a lot of diets including keto for a time, but like Susan, I don't want to live that way anymore. I am healthier, and happier then I've been in many years without diet restrictions. I know I am free to eat what I want, but the majority of the time I chose to eat what I know will serve me best, which is balanced satisfying meals (carbs, protein & fat), and if I need to feed the soul with potato chips or desert I can do that without fear that I will become out of control with my eating. It's so freeing and satisfying to live this way. We all need to find what works for us; and I wish I would have found it a lot sooner, but better late than never 🙂

This was a great video and one of your most important. I never gave much thought to the Nu face, but as you talked about it I realized it was a stimulating device. Then as a retired nurse seein you demonstrate how you ran it around jaw and neck; well the vagus nerve runs down the neck in that area and it controls the heart rhythm and parasympathetic nervous system. So you were literally stimulating the nerve that controls heart rhythm. Thank goodness you are OK. I loved the artwork you used in the video, especially the old woman on the train with the young woman and the reflection of her in her youth in the window. I am intrigued by the youth pill you mentioned at the start of the video, but I wouldn't take it because of how I might seem to my daughter and granddaughter They expect a little age on me. Then I would hate to start my life over with most of the people I love gone to eternity. Also I believe I am placed at this time at this age in the world for a reason, for which I try to figure out. Love to you and the Little Poet community.

I love your attitude! I will be sixty nine in a few months. When I was in my forties I started a face lift fund. I never felt I needed it until the last year when I was dealing with a few years of my husband’s dementia/Alzheimer’s. I have the savings but I just can’t convince myself. I kind of love my face and I know I love me and my life so I’ve decided to just grow in elder loveliness. No facelifts or procedures for me!
