The gates in the countryside usually show where the public footpath is. Sometimes there can be hedges or fences, and the gate would allow you to cross & access the footpath. Possibly the fence /hedge has been taken down & they left the gate to reuse in the future?

We're enjoying being out in our garden, and my parents (that we live with) are needing to go out on their narrowboat to keep the battery healthy, so I'm looking forward to going out with them. We've not had many boats on the river, despite the good weather. Also, that's not for the Triwizard tournament; it's for the Quidditch World Cup!

Atonement…good film. Also my intro to the amazing Saoirse Ronan! As a fellow introvert I’m doing fine in near isolation. I keep to my daily routine except for no longer going out for afternoon coffee & a snack…I have ‘em at home instead, in my backyard if the weather is nice. Gotta cook dinner every evening too instead of just 2-3 times per week. Take care!

Caroline Lie Brooklyn is terrific. She’s also wonderful in films that don’t measure up to her performance. Hanna (not bad) and The Lovely Bones (good book, meh screen adaptation IMO) come to mind. Her performance in Hanna is a masterclass.

@@Caroline1ie I work in retail so I wouldn't say it keeps me sane 😂 dealing with everything and the customers too it is difficult. Thankful for 2 days off now after a frustrating week
