I also use pipe cleaners, not the proper ones, but the ones you get from craft shops. These do not shed cotton waste. I think you will find these better.

As fun fact/tip, wine vinegar cleans limescale pretty effectively; you just need to leave the part soak in a vinegar bath for a while. If the smell isn't a problem (so, not ideal for a tea kettle), it's a pretty cheap home remedy; also useful if you happen to have old/improperly stored vinegar that went too acidic or dark and don't like to throw it out.

Lemon Juice (Citric acid) also does the same thing, but Killrock-K is Formic acid and does the job quickly - Time is money }:-)))

@@keithappleton in Portugal we can get cleaning vinegar which is about 3 times as strong as the stuff you put on your chips.
