Thank you so much Mary. Your videos are so incredibly inspiring.. I can’t tell you how much I (and tons of others) appreciate everything you do. Though I have been playing the guitar for 15+ years, I lack the confidence you seem to just radiate naturally.. so inspiring, keep up the miraculous work Mary.

You obviously work hard at your music and have the talent and aptitude to go far. I've been playing and writing and performing for 46 years, but never got anywhere near your level of achievement. The way you can move between writing, performing, recording, editing and filming is simply astonishing to an old guy like me. All that and a 1200 mile cycling achievement too! My excuse for not having got far with my music is having had children and now Grandchildren - some of whom play guitar btw. In fact, I showed my grandson - who's 10 years old - a basic blues in E and within the hour, he could play it like he'd been doing it for years. Maybe he'll be as good as you one day soon.

I'm just starting out as a beginner at age 50 to this whole home recording hobby, I have a room twice the size and only 1/25 the kit you have; and mine's a total sham of a mess! You've inspired me to clean up and devout more time to it! Love my weekends and evenings in my space as well.

In an effort to not be that guy who comments on the looks rather than the substance I will say this: I really love your gear, guitars, amps, effects etc. that degree is definitely an accomplishment, congrats. Your room is the sort of hangout place musicians can go over to bringing pizza, breaking out the acoustics and have an all night jam session playing covers and coming up with some originals. Awesome studio tour ,kudos

I think macbooks are great because of their software optimization, and they are good to make things on the go, but you'd be surprised how much faster a hackintosh would be for your bigger projects. Just pickup a ryzen processor, lots of ssd's and 32 Gb of ram and you'd have a computer literally 2x-3x faster for video editing and music recording (: Just a piece of advice as the nerd I am.

Hi Mary - I know you've most probably moved away from this place by now, but I'm rewatching this video where you had the table on which you marked the camera related stuff including the camera you were holding to film the video and had another space marked 'camera microphone' (visible at 8:29). What type of microphone would that be? i.e. which one do you use for this type of videos? Lapel or shotgun type mic? Because I'm working on building a setup and yours obviously works wonderfully. Thanks and keep it up.

Wow, that's what I like about this girl. A true working musician who places 100% focus on utilitarian conveniences. Doesn't trouble herself with Martha Stewart color coordination, isn't an over privileged Ivy league rich kid with a glut of super high end equipment she'll never use, and makes no false pretense of where she's been or who she is. Pay attention kids because "This is what a real hard working musician's life looks like" and I'd be right at home. She's real deal & I have no doubt that if she stays on the path she's on, the home she'll have outside of Bristol will far outshine this one. Or maybe not. Was it ever all about the money?.? Nah, its the love of the art. Best of luck to you Ms. Spender.

It is interesting watching a male guitar player show their studio and now a female showing her studio. The males concentrate just on the gear and Mary showed all the things that inspire her and her gear. It might not be a male female thing it might be the difference between someone who writes and creates a lot of music and some that just teaches guitar. My only tip would be drop the Cannon and go with Sony their cameras are unbelievable great film and still shot mirrorless cameras. They are unbelievable in low light just all around great cameras.

You should consider upgrading the Yamaha speakers if you still are using those to Adam SX or something like those. The Adam Audio spkrs are absolutely in a class of their own with the Ribbon Tweeters and they also make Ribbon Midrange spkrs also. The clarity and definition of these stand out remarkably and the stereo image is beyond belief when you hear tracks through them. They were the best buy I ever made and although I am now completely used to them they still leave me stunned when I hear music through them. When I listen through other brands of monitors I always feel they are lacking somewhat or often severely missing clarity simply because I am used to hearing the Adam spkrs which sound so much better even than great brands like Events, KRKs or Genelec's!! I am not trying to sell Adam spkrs, it is just that when I went to audition studio monitors I listened to around 10 manufactures and the Adams stood out a mile in just shear detail. The Top end with the ribbon tweeters are unbelievably silky smooth compared to piston tweeters which have an output ratio of 1:1 where the Adams have 4:1 so there is around twice as much information hitting your ears and twice the volumes or movement of air also. This makes a huge difference believe me. Love your studio as like me I have a dedicated room in my house which is the largest bedroom and I sleep in the back room which is smaller but it is away from any noises.

We're mostly using Genelec and Mackie in Nashville studios. That's what I see mostly, I should say. Me? I spent the $850 on a set of Grado headphones - wood drivers -- and I carry them with me for mixdown. Easier than packing a set of 8" Genelecs, altho I know engineers who do that.

Hi Mary. Love your videos. Very interested to hear that you cycled JOGroats to Lands End. I have done that a couple of times. I feel I need to encourage you to your next adventure. I have also cycled across the USA a couple of times and Australia. You should do the USA. It will blow your mind. And make for some epic videos. It took me 6 and a half weeks and is probably one of the most uplifting things I have ever done in my life. So much so, I had to do it again! You have bicycle hands for a couple of weeks after which makes playing guitar tricky but it is worth it and you end up super fit! Plus. As I always say, when it comes to music, there is no output without any input! It will fill you head with dreams and make you feel invincible! Keep making those videos. SUBSCRIBED!

If I heard right your using USB hard drives to back all your stuff up. I think you may be better served with a more robust storage / back up plan using a NAS (Network attached storage). There are many vendors but I would suggest leveraging synology as it supports a number of cloud back-up services as well as on site backups. Another awesome feature is that it supports is Apple time machine which would work great for your mac should you ever have a disaster. Feel free to send me a DM if you like as I wouldn't have an issue helping out as while watching some of your videos with my 4 yr old autistic son he got very excited and tried to sing which is huge as he is non-verbal. So for that and the work you do thank you!

I was surprised at how good it sounds, even keyboards and drums. Ok,it's not HiFi, but it does sound like real instruments in real time, too (Ableton lite, akai apc key25).
