I failed my first quiz for both OB/PEDs and couldn’t be more stressed. (I’m an A student and not used to this) 😢 BUT this was extremely helpful, thank you ❤

Adriana Pereira Yesss I’m so glad I could share my study routine with you! OB and peds were my favorite classes so far, the content was just different than I expected. The clinical experiences were so enjoyable getting to play with the younger children. I hope this video is helpful to you and I would love to hear about your experience! 😊

@@KristenWaldorf thank you! I'll keep you updated for sure. I'm excited, but nervous. I love kids, but feel like I know nothing abnormal that can happen to them. AND I know nothing about pregnant women haha So it's a learning experience for sure! I just got my peds clinical and I'm thankful that I'm still in person for that.

Adriana Pereira Oh yes you are so lucky to get placed in a peds clinical! Try to take every opportunity you can 🙂 And I agree with you. Both OB and peds had brand new material that the class was different than what I was use too! It will get easier and more familiar throughout the semester though.

For classes that are synchronous, how would you prep for an exam? Also, how do you get ahead, if you don't know what information your professor wants you to know? Great video, I will try implementing some of these tips this upcoming semester!
@KristenWaldorf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryaunna, these are great questions! My response may be a bit long, so please bear with me 😊 Most of my classes in school have been synchronous whether in person or on zoom, so last semester was a first for me being asynchronous. I'm not sure how your school is set up, but my classes always have a review one week before the exam. The biggest tip I can give you is to always make sure your notes or study guide are done one week before the exam. This will allow you plenty of time to study from your notes and do practice questions and repeat. It's important to use the week before to focus on what you don't know or don't understand and use that as a guide on what information you need to know. Now for most of my classes, my accelerated program has been difficult for me to get ahead of schedule and I've mainly done notes after class. I am currently working on Med Surg 2 notes before the semester starts and this is the first time I have done that. I can say it does get easier with time to know what to look for and understand what you will be tested on. If you have access to the powerpoints, I would focus on those, but if you don't there are some other things you can do. When it comes to nursing, always ask yourself about the nursing process..... when you are reading about a health condition, ask what are the risk factors? Clinical manifestations? Interventions? Patient education? You are being asked questions about a nursing exam, so think about that nursing process and usually that is the go to information on what you will be tested on. You can also start practice questions early, this will never hurt. Practice questions are also a great guide as to what you will be tested on and the rationales are helpful in learning the information. Also you can watch RegisteredNurseRN videos on popular topics in the class you are going into and she usually breaks down the topic into everything you will need to know for your exam. I hope this is helpful to you!!

@@KristenWaldorf It’s only my first week and I felt so overwhelmed with all the material throwing at me. I’m also in an accelerated program like you. When I feel overwhelmed, I just scrolled down some of your videos and watched it. Your videos are very helpful and comforting at the same time. I am just all over the place now trying to find what works for me. Thank you very much for making these videos. Please keep doing what you are doing💚

Ai Duong Aww I’m am so so glad my videos are making you feel at ease. Please feel free to reach out anytime, you can always message me on Instagram. I have been in your shoes and I can agree with feeling overwhelmed the first week. I promise you it does get easier, but finding your routine will take a couple weeks. I highly recommend taking some time to yourself this weekend because you earned it! Also regroup and figure out a good time management schedule for the upcoming week. Just take each section one day at a time. RegisteredNurseRN is great at explaining all the different information if you need another perspective and you could always experiment different ways to take notes the first couple weeks like writing vs typing and see what works for you 😊 Another great resource are your professors. I would reach out to them and let them know you are feeling overwhelmed and they might surprise you with how helpful they are recommending study tips and tricks!
