While you’re waiting to install the island you could try grabbing a farmhouse style table off FB marketplace cheap. It would give you some extra prep space plus let you “try out” the dimensions. Pinterest is full of examples. Love your house! Awesome video. God bless 😁

Being a stay at home mom is the hardest (and best) job of all! I am a nurse and after my second child was born, I stopped working (except for one shift on the weekend) and let me tell you... My hardest most stressful day as an icu nurse is nothing compared to being home taking care of little ones! Keep up the good work 👏👏

I just found your channel. I've got 3 kids at home. 1, 9 and 11. I do about 2 load of laundry a day. Some days I skip and do 4. The folding part always gets me. My youngest is down for her nap and your productivity has inspired me to do that now. I also loved that you read to your kids while they eat. I let mine watch a Disney movie now and then, but this is a great idea. I also liked how early you put your kids to bed. My husband reads chapter books to my older kids at bedtime too, while I read to my little one. With covid and being home constantly I've gotten into some bad routines with letting them stay up too late and having a harder time with feeling burned out by being in doors so much. I want to incorporate family prayer time too. You're a great inspiration and I look forward to more of your videos. 🙏😊

Another daily prayer you may like with the kiddos: Angel of God, my Guardian Dear. To whom God's love, commits me here. Ever this day/night be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. From sinful stain, O keep me free, and at death's hour, my helper be. Amen.

We had the same problem in our kitchen and ended up purchasing a mobile island online--it was around $200, which ended up being much more affordable. We love that it can be moved for special events and it includes a lock for the wheels if you'd like it to be more stationary.

Love these types of videos! I have to say I cannot even imagine how nice it would be to have the kids in bed at 7:30. During school the kids bedtime is 8pm and they have a horrible time going to sleep. They will stay awake talking to each other sometimes til 10pm and it drives me nuts! Most nights we “put the kids in bed” and then it’s 10pm and I go to bed and then a kid will get up and come into my room complaining they aren’t tired. So I have gotten use to not going to seep until 1am because by the time they are in bed and I finally get to clean up get ready for bed myself, do computer work, feed the baby again, and get to sleep it’s 1am 😩
@ACatholicMomsLife5 жыл бұрын
That would be so hard! Thankfully all my kids are like me and morning people so they go to sleep really easily. But they do wake up really early around 6:00 so that is the hard part.

Great video Heather! I also love seeing bits and pieces of the new house. I just love your style. BTW, that kitchen totally could use a kitchen island and coming from someone who’s never had one until now that we remodeled our kitchen, it really has become our gathering place. We are gathered in the kitchen so often now. My teenagers hardly ever came down to our old kitchen because it was so closed off and not practical. Now it truly is the heart of our home. They’re always hanging out with us in the kitchen. I love watching how you parent. You are an amazing mom. My kiddos are teenagers now so we don’t do some of the little kid stuff anymore and everything is so different now but when I see videos like these it takes me back to those days when they were little and we had our nighttime routines and play times, etc. Blessings to you and your beautiful family!! ♥️🙏🏼

Very fun to watch! So happy your kids have friends already! For prayers, I usually have two small ottoman's pushed against the fireplace hearth for the kids to lean on while kneeling, and encourage the toddler to sit close with a book etc. It is a sort of training ground for church behavior. Otherwise, for short prayers, like the Angelus or brief morning prayers, I have them stand shoulder to shoulder. I tell them to stand like Altar servers 😉 For Fridays, I usually do refried beans on tortillas with various toppings. Fast and meatless.

I just remembered to suggest something for prayer time! My husband and I have a 3 and 1 year old. Every night we pray the Our Father and Hail Mary. I’ve noticed the girls are more interested when I hand them a rosary to hold while we pray. A group at my church makes them and I grabbed us some. We keep them together as our special “nighttime rosaries” and the girls run every night to pick their color and pray.

Search on KZbin kitchen islands made from cabinets. That is what we did in our last house. When you have some extra cash you can go to Home Depot and buy base cabinets. I did two 36 inch base cabinets side by side and then back to back. I have even seen where people use wall cabinets to finish off the sides. Then you buy a counter top. I don't have any pictures because I don't live in that house anymore, but I loved that island. It was huge. I let it hang over on one end for bar stools. Looks like you have tons of space to do likewise. I think the area you have marked up is a bit too long, you don't want to disrupt the flow of your kitchen. Good luck!!!

I have been a catholic for 60 years and the only time we do not eat meat on Friday is during lent, unless I am fasting for answered prayer. Are you practicing Vatican I or Vatican 2? Where is your source of info I would like to read it or listen to it? Thanks for sharing your evening routine.
@lilyofthevalley47405 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie and Steph, she just got it wrong. We are obliged to do some penance on Fridays. Individual bishops can enforce the obligation to not eat meat, as I believe they have done in the US for Fridays in Lent. The only two days that universally we must abstain from meat are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
@ACatholicMomsLife5 жыл бұрын
They did change it I believe in Vatican 2 but from my understanding we still need to try to avoid meat on Fridays or do another penance on Fridays to remember all year what Jesus has done for us. I linked my video explaining this in the comment above:) . There are also a couple other video talking about avoiding Catholic avoiding meat on Fridays, I believe Fr Mike did one I can try to find it for you:)

Hi Heather, are you obligated to not eat meat in your diocese? We as Catholics are obligated to do some penance on Fridays, but in most places it's left up to the individual to decide what the penance will be. I live in AustralIa and the only day we are obligated to abstain is Good Friday, but when I lived in the States we had to abstain on Fridays during Lent too.
@ACatholicMomsLife5 жыл бұрын
I did a video about this but mainly if you can do a meatless Friday we should other wise we can do another penance on all Fridays. :) . I will pin that video at the top of the comments if you are interested:)

@@ACatholicMomsLife Hi Heather, I've just watched your other video and I love what you say there! I think perhaps there are a lot of good practising Catholics out there who do not realise Friday is a day of penance. In this video, though, you say that Catholics shouldn't eat meat on Fridays (or something like that) and that's where the confusion has come in. Catholics are allowed to eat meat on Fridays (unless the Bishop has specified otherwise) but they have always been obligated to do penance on Fridays. As for it being preferable to make no meat the penance, that makes sense to me because it's traditional to do so. I'll have to watch Fr Mike and see what he says. Thanks for sharing your life with us. You're a really special person and I wish I could meet you :-)
