You have a gorgeous collection of syngoniums! Many of them I have never heard before and I also collect syngoniums as well. For my larger syngoniums I have begun to stake and cage them up on tomato cages. I use the cages for a variety of my larger plants that need added support and like to climb. It has worked out wonderfully and my plants grow like crazy on them. I have made a couple of videos showcasing how I use them for my plants. I will also be doing a video soon on my syngonium collection. sharing my common to rare varieties. Hopefully you’ll come by for a visit. Thanks for sharing your awesome collection and HAPPY GROWING!

My syngonium white butterfly is in a 10 in pot. I call her Maryanne lol I don't let her trail because I love how good she looks bushy. I have made at least 4 other plants in 6 inch pots. She never let's me down :)

I just bought 3 of the pixie ones. I plan to put them together in one big pot with a moss pole. I am hoping to propagate them later when they grow up it fully.

Fun video! But just letting you know---most of of the Syngonium you showed are actually the same species (Syngonium podophyllum), just different cultivars of that species. I think there are actually only 16 species of Syngonium in existence in the world.

Your symgnium are all beatiful the white butterfly I have also she is not growing good it only have 3 healthy looking leaves on her is there any type of food or sun you sit her in for her to be so big

I keep looking and almost-buying syngoniums, but haven’t got any yet. This is a lovely collection and has definitely given me some more to look at. Do you have any suggestion for a introduction variety? I don’t want to kill one immediately and forever be put off them!

Thank you 😊 I would start with Syngonium Podophyllum White Butterfly! They are on the cheaper side and readily available! But I just love the colour and they seem to have really interesting flecks of natural darker variegation 🤩

Some people use perlite as a propagation medium (as opposed to plain water, sphagnum moss, clay pebbles, etc). I do hope she answers your question though

Personally, I wouldn't like perlite as a permanent potting medium because it will stain and it's too lightweight. It won't be able to support larger plants

Hey! Ooh interesting question! When I first got my Syngonium T25 mini and one of the Albos - the roots were mushy so I had to chop them back and regrow the roots - I find that sphagnum moss propagation is hard for me to get the amount of water level correct. I think I’m just a bit heavy handed and make the moss too wet! Perlite is much easier for me because it doesn’t absorb as much water and I find easier to judge watering! With the two plants who needed more roots - I found that perlite is really easy to inspect root growth without annoying the plant too much too and the Syngoniums seem to love it. Goes without saying that perlite, like sphagnum, doesn’t have the nutrients a plant needs so I do fertilise too 😊 Hope that sort of answers your question! I just find it easier than moss 😂

Is the perlite your regular potting medium, or do you normally transition to its permanent place once roots establish to your liking? Is the perlite just in there with water to a certain level or do you drain/ add holes?

I've just begin with syngoniums, but a leaf on one of mine refuses to unfurl. It's about 1/3 of the way there. The leaf looks healthy enough. Any idea why?

Hey Annmarie! Interesting, it tends to be my Philodendrons that struggle to unfurl rather than my Syngoniums. Try moving it to a brighter position and increasing humidity? Next to a humidifier if you have one? Or even a plastic bag over it to create a little humidity dome - I do that with my Philos sometimes

This is usually a low temperature and little light situation, more so even than moisture/humidity. If you're worried about humidity, place the plants (Syngoniums, aroids and Thea's especially, in the shower cabin, after! You've showered, to let them enjoy a high, warm humidity twice a week or so, they'll love it.)
