I didn't depend on black powder bombs to get my resolve up before and as a Ronin i did fine on Platinum unless my team died non stop, but that means they were not ready for the difficulty. You are already borderline over powered if you know what you are doing with a decent build and decent teammates.

You will not always have good teamates, as a matter of fact 90% most of the time your teamates always sucks, so you need to be ready with everything that you have. How the fuck you will continiously reviving anyone if one of your main tool black powder bomb doesnt gives u resolve anymore. So you will switch to flash or spam the other one. I have a few with the Ronin, what are you trying to do? One of my builds is 1. Healing incense 2. Enhanced ghost weapons or legendary 3. Cure all 4. Staggering breath or legendary Wrath of Suragami with whatever sta ces you like Bomb pack with melee stagger damage and blast radius Charm with Healing incese radius and duration, combat regeneration and health increase Dirt throw with perfect parry and status effect duration (probably change duration though) fired up and rancid, change fired up for lucky. Kenjis shared brew with damage reduction, injured resolved gain, lucky, strong brew. How you play matters though.

I like all the changes myself. The Black Powder Bomb nerf makes it where other players can't just mindlessly play and get downed and expect the Ronin to bail them out everytime

With the melee resolve I think they need to buff that a good bit because the last time I had resolve gain on my sword it wasn't as much resolve as from shooting from my bow and getting 2 headshots. with a melee resolve gain it felt a bit slow at getting resolve well at least for me so they need to buff it or add it as a 3rd stat so I can actually focus on other things on my sword

The masamunis edge mmc tech on my max melee builds on samurai, assassin, and ronin builds wrecks waves of enemies. I now run samurai with max status effect duration on perks and the flash bomb. Love this patch so far. But the hunter still seems to be the best at solo and getting waves. I’d imagine an enjoys remorse charm paired with masamuni mmc max melee build samurai would wreck crowds faster at the expense of using the regular 3 strike hachimans fury.😁

To be honest I was really disappointed with the charms. I wanted to build myself an enjos remorse assasin build but then I for some reason we cannot get most of the necessary properties like ghost weapon damage, stealth attacks damage . I was super happy with the katanas. Also assasinations from above is one of the most useless properties in the game.

To add to what Ehpic said about melee resolve gain being a passive buff; I think they could do it similar to the way Ghost Stance works in story mode. But instead of getting the whole Ghost Stance thing, you gain more resolve depending on how many kills you have without taking damage, kind of like a combo system, having the amount of reslove obviously capped because then it would be way too OP.

What's funny is that I went along and tested some builds for each class, all of them revolving around great AoE damage and status effect damage, brought them in survival matchmaking on both platinum and nm and basically dominated every match with close to 300 kills per play, talk about balancing, the fire damage is insane, enjo poison assassin melts everything, samurai does even more damage than before with bpb, hunter is a nuclear weapon and Ronin a fire God, meta finds a way, I would love to see anyone try and compare that immense firepower to malee, the game's mechanics will never allow it to be more effective than damage to a whole area of enemies.

I couldn’t agree more with you man, on all your points. I really don’t understand where SP is taking us. They seem to hate ultimates obviously. Anyway this is really unfair for the ronin; I hoped they would re-buff it a bit but they killed it even more. The new meta will very likely be 4 hunters and I’m not sure that was their intentions. This patch is pure nonsense to me and as you said, I wonder if they even play the game.

Really? This game has basically become all about ultimate spamming now. Seems the only thing some people know with samurai is how to get and use ultimate, and they are terrible at everyting else. It's pretty bad. Ultimate spam is no more fun than any other spam.

@@johnwayne-kd1pn fair point, but the game was originally designed this way (building resolve to get your ulti). That’s why they gave samurais some bombs in the first place, it took them too much time to build resolve compared to other classes. Anyway the patch doesn’t feel that bad tbh!

@@panda737super Actually, this 10% to 25% melee change is great for samurai. I've played Samurai since the beginning, but I always mained Ronin, and yes, there was things wrong with the samurai, but turning it into a spam class was not the right way to fix that. Samurai was never really terrible, but also never really fun to play around range spam hunter/ronin. They did luckily tone down the range spam, but then just made it worse by giving it to samurai and making it the most spammy class of all. But then they toned that down luckily.

@@johnwayne-kd1pn yep agreed, that melee buff is a good thing, although I think they should have made it even more noticeable (and they should have buffed the assassin as well for a more balanced game). My very first comment was more related to the ronin since this is the only class having no really “agressive” ultimate. Although it was OP back in the days, the huge nerf at the iki island release really made it less fun to play (I guess you know what I mean if you’ve played from day one). So yes I was pretty concerned about the no resolve black powders (for the ronin, not the sammy). Luckily, I feel that they have kind of re-buffed its overall stats, tho I don’t see this written anywhere in the patch note

@@panda737super Ahaha yeah, although I play Ronin differently than most I was quite grumpy at some of the nerfs that hit the Ronin somewhat unfairly. But I survived and thrived through all of them and my Ronin game hasn't changed very much and it's still alot of fun for me to play Ronin. I've always had no extra resolve for ronin, so I'm used to having to work for it, and I didn't overly rely on BPB so I haven't really noticed a change personally. But aside from the first few months of the game, they have continually nerfed Ronin resolve 🤣 Mind you it was hilarious since they didn't nerf hunter resolve until recently, and they kept adding resolve and ultimate spam.

Something I noticed that no one seems to talk about the patch is the adjustments to rerolling your properties. Before the patch the roll upgrade used to be .1% to .2% or more per roll and after 3 or 4 rerolls they would give a big leap in the 3% or more range. Now every single roll seems to only be .1% sometimes .2% if you're lucky. I've been burning resources on my new builds. Maybe it's just me, but I've been rerolling alot and every single time it's been that low.

Right as I started to build my Ronin...sadge. I think Samurai and Hunter are real winners this patch with the Legendary Charms changes. Enjo's Samurai with buffed Deep Strikes SLAPS!

Melee Resolve Gain is great as an Oni Killing Assassin, I prefer it to Melee Dmg. This build can 1 shot most enemies with Super Strike + Weakness Dart, has fast cooldowns for frequent smoke/magma and decent team sustain with Refreshing Vanish. here is the build: Refreshing Vanish. Super Strike, Deft Hands, Chain Vanish. Water Katana - Melee Resolve Gain, Oni Dmg. Poison Blade, WotF Blowgun - Stealth Atk, Stealth. Sharpened, Shield Piercing. Assassin Charm - Stealth Atk, Oni. Hysteria, Chain Vanish. Magma Bomb - CDR, CDRoK. Radius, Lucky Smoke Bomb - Stealth Atk, CDRoK. Munitions, Lucky. Hunter still needs nerfs, they do far too much damage with significantly lowered barriers to effectiveness. i dont hate hunter, but their effort to effectiveness ratio is imbalanced. on several maps they can stay in a central location and still have 100% effectiveness whereas all other classes must traverse the map on every map. Assassinate from Above is pointless, it almost never happens.

Yup, i have to use melee resolve gain on my ronins water katana purely to get my ult faster. I think it’s actually pretty good, especially when you use a flash bomb on a big Oni and use the fast attack.

Being glad things were nerfed isnt "hating" on classes. I can see why people think someone criticizing a class, that's commonly used, as hate because you're protective over said class. I believe the Nerfs are highly neccessary cause the enemies never get buffs. The game literally feels too easy when I play with black powders. Now completely removing resolve is still a unfounded idea, every weapon should have resolve attached or else theres no point in using them

In this update SP clearly went out of their way to nerf the bombpack and by extension the Ronin. Ever since the iki island update which introduced "bomburai" and gave both Samurai and Assassin the black powder bombs that caused a drastic increase in bomb spamming. The Ronin class is blamed for most of it but can only realistically be at fault for 1/3 of it. It makes more sense for a Ronin to only use a couple bombs at a time. Most end game Ronins are healing based. Our damage we do it mostly from our bpbs. Even our other ultimate perks are not as deadly as the other classes. Our fire can be concentrated in one area but is magnified and enhanced by the other ghosts. Stagger weaknes a pretty good amount. Notice the other classes ults like Samurai and Assassin where they fly into the enemy, the Ronin casts his damage by jumping up. This allows the other players to benefit greatly from his ultimate if done correctly. Kill count is fairly useless as it in and of itself can be manipulated. The game is a team effort and the stats do a poor job of getting that across. If you want to get max kills simply let someone else weaken (like say a Ronin or hunter) then ult. If a class that was made for healing can't get his ultimate quickly then what fun is playing a Ronin? As an OG Ronin main killing is nice but heals beat kills always. Each class is unique with their specific abilities and compliments each of the other classes so well. Giving 2 other classes a full bombpack imo was just too much. It's something I don't think or want the Ronin to have to pay for. I could explain to you why bomb spamming is not in the Ronin's best interests but this post is way too long as it is. Happy gaming.

i wouldve been fine nerfing bp resolve slight, makes sense how good it is… wish SP wouldve focused on cool buffs for ronin, sam and maybe assassin instead of nerfing stuff again. legendary katanas and charms is really cool tho, especially enjos and the stone striker. also ironically i think the bp nerf with the intention of making the game more accessible to new players has actually hurt their experience. not using a key source of resolve to cushion harder difficulties doesnt make much sense, especially in the case of ronin who cant healing ult anywhere near as often to revive. This game is a PvE not PvP. This update was not fair for the Ronin players. The Ronin has been Nerfed too much, too many times. This update went after the bombpack to nerf bomb spamming. All that was needed was to remove the black powder bomb for the Samurai, Replace bpb for Assasian and add 1 flash bomb. For Ronin replace what was was taken from him in patch 2.18, restore the limited munitions. Add a modifier in coustom platinum that allows melee enthusiasts to have no range.

I think Melee needed a buff, needs a bit more, I don't typically agree with nerfs. The 4 different classes need to be balanced, equal...instead of nerfs, buff what needs to be buffed, no nerfs, and adjust difficulty accordingly. I 100% agree with everything you said. I play all classes and I have 4 or 5 builds for each class for different playstyles. I love the charm changes, and I absolutely love that they made stance mastery on all legendary Katanas, that's gonna open up a variety of new builds. Melee Resolve Gain is dooky, I'll stick with Oni and Ultimate Damage. Munitions nerf also hot dooky. I haven't really played much, working on my 2nd playthrough of Elden Ring currently, so I have been busy. If anyone wants to co op, just message me. I'm down for either game.

Not necessarily a buff I think every class should specialize in something and each class gets different stats like hunter automatically has 25% nocking speed and assassin climbs 100% faster and samurai attacks with melee faster and ronin just needs some of his less used techniques buffed like the dog one should summon 2 dogs

It's not the Ronin's job to heal you. Ronin has several things that don't heal at all and I run a Roaring Flame fire master build. If your not near me when I drop my Mist of Yagata then your on your own. IF your running a glass Cannon build that's dependent on someone ELSE keeping you alive,your playing the game wrong.

I agree with the black powder bombs especially for Ronin players, you rely on these guys to keep the party alive on nightmare and the rest of the party can get rid of the hordes, its difficult enough that we deal with those specters (transparent enemies) and the crow shamans, its like sucker punch tipped the scales on the other side, my assasin build uses the bombs for support. It's actually "Mah-Sah-Moo-Nai"; not trying to be an ass, there is no shame, I'm sure not many know its correct phonics. Just thought you may wanna know. It's a significant name to Japan's history as two famous Masamune are told thru Japanese legend. One being the most famous finest blacksmith/swordsman and his apprentice Muramasa, fictional swords are named after these blacksmiths, Masamune's katana is like the Excalibur of Japan. The other famous Masamune is DaTe Masamune, aka the One Eye Dragon Samurai who helped Oda Nobunaga unite all clans into modern Japan. If you also noticed, Nobu is one of the choices name picked for your horse in GoT. Just thought I throw you some Easter eggs.

Not sure if related but one of the three games I played today has the worst bomb pack spamming I've ever seen. It could be isolated. I guess the loss of resolve gain will make some people lean on the concussion packs more. I honestly dont use my Ult as much as the average person so I have no idea how resolve gain works other than when I shoot someone with and arrow it fills up pretty quick. I like the update. I've spent most of my resources but have two dream builds so far with Enjo's on Samurai and Restorative Rhythm on the Assassin. The charm buff is amazing. Enjo's with Blessed Strikes, Fire Master, Raging Flame is a force to be reckon with. With the class 25% melee, Enjo's 15%, and 12 per Katana/Spirit Kunai makes for a cyclone of fire that just melts everything. Yes, you do have a to keep an eye on health but it also doesn't matter as raging flame fills the life bar after a couple swings anyway so even if you're low, Raging Flame will kick in 2 seconds. It's the tankiest and most powerful S build I've ever made. I also made a Heavenly Rebuke hightlight real build and it's tons of fun but for pure bang for you buck, the Enjo build is vanilla but if you mean business, I can't think of a better build. Assassin with Restorative Rhythm is for people who can't decide if they want to be a Ronin or Assassin. You're both. It's my favorite Assassin build. I also made an Enjo Toxic Assassin, and it's deadly AF. Definitely took the Toxic Assassin to a new level.

Whoever is giving them ideas on their team must get fired. They are making this like a COD, constantly nerfing that is really good. However, COD is highly a PvP game, Ghost of tsushima is not. The nerfs are coming from the players who are complaining that they are having low kills while the other is high. They must stick this to their head - if you suck on this game, you really suck, nerfing anything wont change the fact that you really suck. Typical crab mentality that when they see something is good, they want to pull it down

Have you considered that if you depend on unbalanced mechanics or cheap tactics then maybe those people are the ones that are not good at the game? Im new to the game, never used the overpowered builds that you can find on youtube or moon cancel and can easily do platinum or nightmare with randoms if im not testing new things. Its straight up boring when people non stop spam ultimates, i could care less about the kills, ill play a healer and im fine with that, but the point of a multiplayer pve with different classes is to help each other overcome a difficult obstacle, not watch one person nuke everything, it makes it boring.

I basically agree with everything you say here. The Charm and Katana buffs are great. I still am working on new combos but they'll be some interesting builds. Caltrops buff is a good idea just to vary up the Meta. The BPB nerf is dumb, but they should have it just give less resolve not none. What they really need is a buff on Resolve for Assassinations (please SP please...). It literally takes 8-9 assassinations to get your Assassin Ult... I'm not totally down on this. Just give us some resolve on BPB back and the other changes will help balance and vary the builds.

What SP could do is have the Bombpack generate different values of resolve gain and damage for each class that uses it. The same could be done for any other weapon.This would allow SP to fine tune 1 or 2 classes without hurting the rest.

It’s already hard enough to get ammo on nightmare especially when you can’t buy ammo replenish for your teammates when it’s not even available. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Why not buff assassination skills and perks but we got a buff on air assassinations. Im one of those idiots and I never cared about the kill count, I didnt even know that at some point I was on the top 100 untill someone randomly mentioned it. It makes the game boring when people play like that, there is no challenge and thats the point of a higher difficulty. If you have top kills because you have amazing skills and reflexes thats one thing if you have top kills because you are using cheap tactics thats just boring. Besides at ki 120 with the two slots you are already too strong with a somewhat decent team.

No, but being able to get double resolve from one shot is broken. There needs to be balance to keep the game interesting, if you want a build that can generate a lot of resolve it should come at a prize, I mean come on thats your ultimate. I don't know if you play hunter or played with hunter's after the patch but they are still perfectly capable of wiping the floor with the enemy's.

I never used black powder bombs and im a ronin main. I think you can do just fine with the legendary kunai and normal concussion bombs.

@@akurvaanyadat SP reduced the amount of black powder bombs and flash, along with fire arrows. It's fine for someone to not want to use any particular type of weapon but the fact is that bpb used to generate a lot of resolve. For most Ronins the bomb pack is their main weapon. It is the Ronin's primary weapon. The limited munitions punish the Ronin along with Assassin and Samurai. Those 2 classes got buffs in their ults the Ronin got nothing in this update but grief.

Chap 1 is probably the easiest raid & making sure you do the oni chests will get you 10 possible items .. you can also run story missions but you can only get 3-5 items . Chap 3 only takes like 5-7 mins so you could grind it.. drops are random & you can get them from any activity. So do the ones that take the least amount of time & give you the possibility for more items upon completion.

Matchmaking is player-to-player. There’s no servers on ghosts so it may just be connection issues depending on where you/teammates are

why do i feel like there hoping to much for rivals and did the buffs and nerfs for that since its team vs team and when one team has a op samurai and ronin with black powder bombs. Then maybe they are coming from there the important thing in patches is to understand where there coming from and why there doing what there doing but overall it was a good try but the execution wasn't the best and i think they will revert things if people are loud enough since they wanna work with the comunity hand in hand thats my view to it.

I'm happy with the patch I seem to be able to get black powder 💣 fairly often yes it's not as good but I don't depend on them. I don't have a horrible time getting resolve either. You are right though this is a PvE game and you should encourage things to be fun and maybe I'm just to new. I like the charm buff and find the game fun. Honestly though I hate to say we need some nerfs outside of nightmare missions this game is way too easy. Also we need platinum story missions I think that would be awesome. Also as far as people expecting a Ronin healer that is how I started and realized you don't need a healer. Samurai has great heals. Hunter well you should be able to survive just fine. Assassin has so much versatility they don't get hit much though a healer is appreciated especially on assassin because I have no heal but you should be able to survive maybe if you're doing platinum 7 sure but honestly you should be ok I do run forbidden medicine as a hybrid on Ronin and that seems to be enough how do others feel about this? Do you think Ronin should be pure healer, hybrid, or does it really matter

Completely agree with you, as far as the Ronin goes, that honestly is up to the individual, Ronin is extremely versatile. I have a build thats strong with ghost weapons, another two that main melee, one thats constant heals and one thats constant ult heals, another one thats selfish heals and a work in process fire build.

I’m not hating I actually use hunter and Ronin class and they are too op and easy to use. You stand in one spot point and click one button and destroy a whole group with 1 attack. Anyone can do it and it takes zero skill. Kinda a bad look for a game about mastering your blade.Meanwhile the lads with the swords taking hits from archers, spears, swords and brutes from all directions get nerfed when it actually requires you to be a decent sword fighter to make the build successful. Facts.

I like the new buffs (a few new options opened up with that legendary sword and charms buff), BUT that no resolve gain on black powder bombs is just cruel :( They really buffed melee resolve gain too, I guess they're trying to shift to more close combat gameplay , but they really didn't have to kill ranged resolve like that
