I love seeing these lists. They’re usually full of games I, myself, can’t play though I do enjoy watching people play them on here. I must add a couple honorable (albeit seizure limited) games if I may. Super Mario World, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and Gran Turismo IV. Keep up the awesome content!

WHen I was in tech school in 98 I had brought my PS1 from home with me and bought a tv. Needless to say my room was the most popular room as no one else had any consoles. Thats where i randomly bought final fanasty 7 and fell in love with it.

Bushido blade 2, OG Star Wars battlefront 2, Sonic 2, Tony Hawk 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Halo 2, Doom 2 was great, Gran Turismo 2, etc... Back when game companies slandered each other on commercials/magazine ads and raised the bar to screw with each other to benefit the consumer kinda era games.

Loved your list, but i would of included Twisted Metal 2! The cover alone for Twisted Metal 2 with Axel half man half vehicle just made you want to buy this game! Then for sure i would of included Mario Kart 64. Probably one of the hugest upgrades of any sequels due to it jumping from 16 bit to 64 bit! Were just going to skip the 32 bit & jump into 64 Bit...Now that is how a sequel is done! it's just so hard to narrow things down to the top 10...to that i tip my hat off to ya!

My Top 10 Best Sequels 2024 Edition; 1. Final Fantasy 7 - While this was my first Final Fantasy Main Game, i've played most of the others that had come since and FF7 still holds it's place as the best FF sequel. i love the Characters, the Story, the World, the Lore and the Minigames spread throughout. (Gold Saucer rules!) 2. Assassin's Creed II - i had played the first game some of the way, but AC2 i not only played all the way through, i 100% completed the game, which to me says a lot about the quality of said game. 3. F-Zero GX - HOLY HELL is this game hard! but i absolutely love it, after playing the OG then playing the N64 version, wow what an upgrade! so many playable Racers, Tracks and things to do. there's even a Custom Racer feature, where you can earn parts and build your own Champion. mine was built like a locomotive and it could sprint up to 1000 KPH, but it's turning and acceleration was pretty much dogshit. lol 4. Resident Evil 4 - i had played the OG trilogy back in the day and i was FLOORED by this sequel. there was slightly less Horror to it, but it still scratched my itch real good, even some decent Puzzles within. again, i completed the game and if you notice the trend i am posting games that i beat 100%. 5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past - now understand that i am not new to Zelda in ANY sense, but this game remains to be my favorite Zelda game of all time, even over Ocarina and Majora that tend to reign atop other's Zelda pantheons. LTTP did it first anyway, Ocarina just brought the formula to 3D and took all the credit! lol 6. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - originally i played the FUCK outta SMRPG and the OG Paper Mario, so when came a sequel, i jumped right in on it. and i was not disappointed, we had a new Villain, new Companions, an Audience mechanic that was great, new Bosses, and even got to play as Bowser in "Platforming" segments that rewarded me with more dimwitted shenanigans from the titular Koopa King. if anything sucked, i just wished there was more side content to enjoy. 7. Pokemon: Platinum Edition - yeah i admit it, i'm a guy in his 40s who likes playing Pokemon, what of it? Generation 4 is where i've had the most fun and with 9 Generations thus far, that's quite a Badge it has earned. now i dont play competitively by any means, i just Collect them and try to Raise them to be the strongest that they can ever be. 8. Soul Calibur IV - honestly, though i loved SC2, it was not better than the OG. but then SC4 came along and DAMN, now i felt it was better than the OG, if only by a hair. Character Creator goodness, Custom Gear to boost your Fighters Souls to where they had more power and health, which was fun to see how strong i could make each Fighter, with my Custom Fighter having 205% HP and 175% Power. not to mention, i could play as Star Wars Characters, freakin' A! 9. Streets of Rage 2 - i played the original and my god it felt so stiff! and people call Final Fight the best Beat Em Up?? no way, SOR2 is king, baby! i've beaten all Characters on Hard difficulty and made it through Hardest once with Max, and i STILL want to play it more! 10. Star Control II - now i KNOW that you are not a fan of this game, but it deserves to have a place in a Top 10. because the original game was little more than a VS game set in space. the sequel has you in a HUGE chunk of the Galaxy doing Star Trek kind of stuff, gathering materials on Planets, making Alliances with other Races and all to stop the end of the Universe, against a threat that even the Ur-Quan; Earth's Conquerors fear. this game has such a community behind it, fans remastered the game for the company that made it, and allowed it to remain free to the public. better than anything Nintendo or SEGA ever did in response to a fangame.
@Fortefyre27 күн бұрын
This is a great breakdown. Thank you for sharing it! I actually enjoy Star Control II but found it incompatible with the time constraints of my stream schedule. I'll play it again at some point with a walkthrough to guide me through it.

Wow, favorite sequels? Talk about a daunting topic. Great job with the list though. I’ll make a few picks, but I’m going to put two limiters on myself. One, I’m only going to pick sequels I got to play back when they were still at least relatively fresh and new. And two, I’m only going to pick sequels where I also played the original game to compare it with. So that eliminates games like Mega Man 2, Tropico 2, and Persona 3, even though I really enjoyed those. With those limiters in place, the first games that come to mind as sequels that I absolutely loved are: Star Control II, Dragon Quest V (my favorite in the DQ series), Final Fantasy VI (my favorite in the FF series), A Link to the Past, Street Fighter II, Elevator Action Returns (and the original Elevator Action is one of my favorites from the classic era too, so that’s saying a lot), Tie Fighter, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PS2 version - I had all of the first six mainline games on PS2 except Goblet of Fire, and for me CoS was by far the most fun of the entire series, and the only one I still occasionally get the urge to go back and play again).

Off the top of my head, I'd say Pokemon Gold & Silver were pretty solid sequels. Adding 100 new monsters to the original 151, plus you could explore the map from the first game. There's also Star Fox 64 if that counts. Plus I find that South Park: The Fractured But Whole doesn't get enough love. And there's also Earthbound which I know you haven't played.
@UltimateGamerCCАй бұрын
Fractured But Whole *snickers* was a good sequel, but sadly i couldnt have it on a top sequels list, both the South Park RPGs suffer from issues that keep them from all-time greatness. with the OG, it was too damn easy. with FBW it felt too short and the fact that you could have free reign of Powers at endgame REALLY screwed the Replay Value for me.
@Fortefyre27 күн бұрын
It blew my mind when there were 150 more, now I'm so disinterested in the 800000 pokemon lol

@@UltimateGamerCC Well I wouldn't put it as a God tier sequel either, I just wanted to give it some applause. Most games in existence are probably sequels, so a list of the best sequels ever would basically amount to a list of the best games ever.

I enjoyed playing Assassin’s Creed II. I wish they would make another Ezio game. Did you catch the nod to Super Mario? When Ezio meets his Uncle his uncle says “It’s a me Mario”. Wanna talk about plugging in a USB 3 times? That's Uncharted 2 for me. I bought it, played I think the entire story because the action is awesome, then sold it for another game knowing that this falls into my very narrow category of games that I don't want to ever play again. Why? There's one and only one reason that makes Uncharted 2 unplayable for me. Nathan Drake is Ross from Friends. Would you watch Indiana Jones if he was a sissy in dialogue scenes? The dude goes from literal grenade fights to bickering with his ex, or really should I say letting his ex bicker him. I didn't play the previous game, so I know nor care what their romance was all about. Seriously, Indiana Jones got laid. But he also stood up to women. I don't think Nathan Drake can stand up to his own boots. I can't believe this game is popular. I bought it again because of the online feature, because a friend swore that this would be the part of it that I like. Well the action is awesome. But then you have to deal with Nathan Drake's feelings in between. Even without the lady, the one character with a spine. Nathan Drake seems like a flake. It's been a while since I've played it so I can't remember any examples right now, but this wound up being a game that remains in my collection so that I don't make the mistake of buying it again. This is not a joke.
