I have nearly, if not all of these books on my want to read list. I cannot WAIT to get to them all over time. Fantasy is such an incredible genre, I'm so excited to keep delving into it.

Legends & Lattes and Mad Ship are also on my best books of 2022 list! I'm planning to read Babel as soon as my hold comes in at the library. I'm fascinated by linguistics and I loved The Poppy War so it sounds amazing!

I am just kicking myself for still not having read Hunger of the Gods. At this point I'll probably wait for any updates on book 3 and then do a marathon read once that's out. But love to hear that it was such a hit for you!! Legends & Lattes and A Psalm for the Wild-Built are great reads to soothe your soul after the emotional damage that Hobb, Kuang and Ruocchio cause you, lmao. And HECK YES for Harrow the Ninth, that crept up into my top 5 as well!! Absolutely love this list, thanks for sharing!! 🥰 My top three indie/selfpub was (1.) Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar, (2.) Dream of Death City by P.J. Nwosu and (3.) A Touch of Light by Thiago Abdalla. And the top three trad pub was (1.) The Risen Kingdoms series (probably book 2) by Curtis Craddock), (2.) The Locked Tomb (also probably Harrow) and (3.) The Dandelion Dynasty (just the whole thing, but for some reason book 3 has a special place in my heart). Needless to say, all HIGHLY recommend them to you!! 🤩

My Top 10 would be: *Fantasy* Changes / Jim Butcher - I could've put any Dresden Files book from Dead Beat (Book 7) onwards on here but Changes met the hype for me. Price of Spring / Daniel Abraham - Seeing the conclusion to everyone's arcs over the course of 4 books spanning 40 years... its amazing. The Crippled God / Steven Erikson - I think this might be my favourite ending to a Fantasy series. The Unholy Consult / R Scott Bakker - Easily the darkest book I've ever read. It haunts me. *Historical-Fantasy* Lions of Al-Rassan / Guy Gavriel Kay - I enjoyed Tigana but Lions made me a GGK fan. *Historical-Fiction* Gates of Fire / Steven Pressfield - This standalone for me is on par with Warlord Chronicles, that's how strong it is. The Last Kingdom / Bernard Cornwell - Uhtred of Bebbenberg, what a character. I appreciate that Cornwell's not afraid to make him very unlikeable at times. *Sci-Fi* Book of the New Sun / Gene Wolfe - Am I technically cheating with this one? Yes. Do I care? No 😆 Some of the best use of an unreliable narrator (for multiple reasons) I've read. I Am Legend / Richard Matheson - I read this in one sitting, that's rare for me. Ogres / Adrian Tchaikovsky - A dystopia told from the 2nd person.

This is a great list and I can confidently say that Tyranny of Faith is fantastic. Also, if you don't feel like re-reading JoK, Swan has a full recap of it on his website, which is what I did and didn't have any problem!

I was able to knock out the audiobook really quick! Finished it yesterday! And just got approved for the arc of tyranny of faith. So pumped.

My top 3 reads were: 1. The poppy war 2. And then there were none 3. The Bear & the nightingale I had a pretty mediocre reading year in 2022 so I’m hoping for a lot more bangers this year. I need to continue poppy war and Bear and the nightingale series

Excellent Video!! My Top 3 #3 The Blackest Heart by BLD #2 The Gardens of the Moon and #1 The Warrior Prophet by R. Scott Bakker. I saw a lot of Hobb in there. I typically am a "Grim Dark" reader and my tastes are more geared to Adult Fantasy. I do like Mistborn and Stormlight Archives......I guess my question is would you consider Hobb a "YA" author?
@jordanreads Жыл бұрын
No! Definitely not. Hobb is very much so an adult author. There are a lot of adult themes in her works and really graphic scenes. Not even a little bit YA. While her books aren’t grim dark, they are still pretty dark at times. I highly recommend them.
