Dune! I was expecting to hate it but it blew me away. Villanueva really has the gift

Great list...I have seen a number of these, and now have more to watch....and you are right on with Saint Maud...it was something. Looking forward to watching Censor and Last Night in Soho!

Free Guy was a lot of fun -- struck me as a mix of The Lego Movie, Ready Player One, Tron, and maybe a bit of Wall-E. But with Ryan Reynolds.

While searching for “Pig” I came across “The Card Counter..”. It should have been on your list

I just saw Card Counter a few days ago! Good movie. Also, check out Paul Schrader's previous movie, First Reformed.

I always appreciate your perspective, Steve. While our tastes in movies don't really align very well, I have thoroughly enjoyed some of your recommendations. I will be checking out The Father because of this review.

The Father is so sad! But Anthony Hopkins...wow.

My issue with Inside is that it was billed as a comedy special. It has funny moments, but it is not a comedy special. You had mentioned Saint Maude in one of your other videos and I agree it is quite shocking. Thanks for the recommendations!

It's pretty basic, but I do like the big budget spectacles. I do like good acting, but sometimes it seems a bit out there. I think I agree with the sentiment of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale who just wanted to make Back to the Future when everyone else in film school was talking about French films (I just heard that incident and really liked it, so I apologize if it comes across as overly negative). That said, I really appreciate your perspective, and want to check some of these out. Last Night in Soho did look good, so that's on my list, and I love Anthony Hopkins, so Father will have to get added. We're still looking forward to checking out Spielberg's version of West Side Story, that may be our Christmas day movie. Personally I would have to say Dune and Spiderman: No Way Home have taken the top spots for me personally. Dune was so sweeping and epic, the cinematography, music, acting, everything was breathtaking. Spiderman was an extremely satisfying end to that trilogy, one that being a long time fan of the entire franchise did not fail to amaze.

Steve, saw most of the movies on your list this year. Are my eyes failing me or were more movies like The Green Knight filmed in low light, possibly to hide a nonexistent FX budget? It just seemed really dark to me. I stopped watching as it was getting on my nerves.. Looking forward to seeing Holler and Saint Maud. Thanks for the list!

Good list. However, "Shadow In The Cloud" was too ridiculous for my taste. "One Shot" was pretty good, once you realize that it appears to have been taken as a one-shot movie and it has tons of action. I also enjoyed "Old Henry", "The Last Duel" and "Stillwater".

Lol, I'm basically the opposite of Steve in the case of taste. I'm boring. I am no fan of horror, and I hardly go to the movies. In theaters, I think I only saw Free Guy, Black Widow, Shang Chi, and I'm seeing Spider-Man No Way home today. I also watched Red Notice on Netflix, but I honestly can't remember anything else I saw on streaming this year.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the "wokeness" of these movies?
@SteveRamseyPlus2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure...I have no interest in politics. I rate movies with pretty simple criteria: 1) Was I entertained? and 2) Would I watch it again?
