To add to it, a funny story about the launch of X7. Anyone who was a fan of the series at the time this came out may recall similar experiences. For those who wern't following back then, the series really only had a few failures, most would count X6 some, counted X5 by still enjoyed it. Overall, fans had no real reason to expect X7 to be a failure as they knew X6 was only rushed out the door as the PS1 was on the way out. X7 being on the then current PS2 was merely the next step, the next evolution and it seemed they were taking their time with it as well. However what makes this story complete is the fact that the Zero Series was also expanding and the AMAZING Megaman Zero 2 came out on THE SAME DAY as X7. I can recall me and my best friend both looking forward to them immensly. For whatever reason he didn't have school that day and had been playing both. I picked them both up after school and given it's portable nature played Zero 2 right away loving every minute of it. I call my friend to talk about it and when he told me he'd been home all day I'm like "OMG! HOW IS X7!!" As for both of us, it was the main event. So there's this awkward silence and finally he's goes "......Well....... uh....... it's........you should probably just play it. I don't personally have any words to describe it." I respond "So it's that good?" to which they respond "Well......it's that........something, you'll understand when you play it." If you've played X7 yourselves, you can finish the rest of the story without me telling it. It's a memory that was just so sad it's funny to the point that I don't think I'll ever forget it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Class FF-101 I remember being in denial at first about how bad it was. After how X6 kinda ruined things for me, I was hopeful things couldn’t get much worse... and then I got the game. I was like “well, uh, the music is good... and... the graphics aren’t too bad... uh, Red is voiced by Barry Burton from RE1... at least X is voiced by an actual man... though he sounds like even more of a whiny little bitch... shiiit, this really is bad.” I tried to like X7 more than X6, I really did, but you can only play some ridiculous facade for so long before you realize how flawed it really is.

The Gravity Well was actually really useful for small swarming enemies, and it totally wrecks Blast Hornet, almost to the point of making the fight really cheap and easy. Also it's used to collect the helmet upgrade, which is its primary use outside of Blast Hornet's weakness. In all honesty though, I rarely use special weapons outside of boss battles, unless they're to find secrets/upgrades. The X-Buster works just fine for me!

In response to X5 ripping off past weapons, I think that was just part of their attempt to put in an homage to all the prior Mega Man and Mega Man X games. Bubble Crab's music, the Yellow Devil, those instant-kill lasers from Quick Man, the wall face boss from X1 (Ranga Banga or something stupid like that), etc. Probably because this was supposed to be the last game in the series. Note that I'm not an X5 apologist; I think it's only an okay game.

X8's saving grace was that none of the weapons were bad for all three characters. X's Shining Ray is... bad, Axel's Raygun is okay, and Zero's Tenshouha works like it usually does.

Rip off does not = bad weapon. If it was good before, its still good. And as some one else already pointed out. X5 was supposed to be a homage to the past X and original series games. Even the 3 X armors are all homages, the starting one comes form X4, the other 2 are updated versions of the stuff from Megaman 6. The game is a "Megaman's greatest hits" series all rolled into one game with a high stakes ticking clock, some how managing to make all of those "greatest hits" mesh into a single game with a good story, and a good overall flow. The fact that they were able to get all of those "old things" into a new era, have them all blend together and still make it work is amazing. The Worst weapons the useless weapons, not the ones that are actually good, but are paying homage to megaman past ON PURPOSE, and doing so with a decent amount of success. (unlike X7 as you pointed out.... lets pay homage to past X games, AND make it 3D, oh AND lets take X almostly completely out of the game.... make weapon energy god aweful, and to top it off nerf all functionality of the things that we are trying to pay homage to because.... we want slow as hell wonky 3D and a cool new hip character named Axel)

Some of these are cases of you not knowing how to use the weapon properly. I won't disagree with you about everything in X7, although as has been pointed out already, the Volt Tornado has its uses if properly applied. However: - Gel Shaver, while indeed a ripoff of Ground Hunter (and unlike you, I didn't like the GH...) is surprisingly strong when charged. - Twin Slasher isn't *as* weak as you say it is, especially if you can get both waves to hit the same enemy. Don't forget it's the General's weakness when playing as X, too. Yes, the Plasma Buster is usually better, but that means the Buster is overpowered, not that the TS is weak. - Gravity Well is situational, but far from useless. It's useful when there are swarms of those small enemies you mention, like the ascent up the sewer shaft about 1/3 of the way through Toxic Seahorse's stage. I think it should have been overhauled to "eat" pretty much all on-screen projectiles not made of pure energy though, like the Victoroids' missiles and the Wild Tanks' drill bombs and mortar rounds. - Tri Thunder was awesome. "It's a ripoff" does not justify, on its own, calling it a bad weapon. It isn't as ridiculously overpowered as the Thunder Beam, but from a balance standpoint, that's a good thing. My worst list: - Boomerang Cutter. Too weak, though useful against certain bosses and mandatory for grabbing at least one powerup. - Parasitic Bomb. Awesome when it works, utterly useless when it doesn't. - Tornado Fang. Again, too weak, and its charge shot's power consumption is so high it's *got* to be a glitch. - Rising Fire. RANGE. It has NO RANGE except vertical unless you charge it, and while it's decently powerful, using it is really awkward. - Lightning Web. Aside from its purpose of grabbing the Buster upgrade, the EX tank, and taking out Split Mushroom, it's completely useless. - Dark Hold. Pretty much what you said. - Will Laser. Decently powerful, but leaves you much too vulnerable, and its hitbox being bigger than it looks makes it very hard to maneuver. This is important for that one puzzle in Dark Necrobat's stage. - Ice Burst. This thing just feels incomplete. I think it should have gone flying when dashed into, for example. The charge ability is neat in theory but not that useful in practice. - Guard Shell. No argument there; this thing doesn't perform as advertised. It should soak nearly every projectile and spit out a riposte within 500msec, IMO. - Everything in X7 and most things in X8.

Dark Hold is really great on most places... Goo shaver too because it's versatility just below you. In no. 3 Guard shell? it's the worst, really. Spinning wheel in former is really great. But the X7 version of Spinning wheel? Badly nerf.

+NathRK Dark Hold and Goo Shaver are on here mostly because they have been done before, Goo Shaver especially because it was done better in the previous game. Guard Shell got put so high because, unless you charge it, it's basically useless and X6 has the major problem of being way too busy so the last thing I want to do is use a charge that puts even more distractions on screen.

In hindsight, the X-Buster from X7 and X8 are kinda overpowering every other weapon X has. When you got the full upgrade in X7 you get those tiny homing shots that will definitely finish off an enemy, and in X8 your full charge shot is powerful enough to sweep the screen, not to mention Icarus's Arm Part gave you a freaking laser beam that cuts through the stage like TLS from Ace Combat.

ICYMI, #3 is actually the MOST POWERFUL Special Weapon you can use, IF you use it with the Plasma Shot of the Blade/Ultimate Armor to hit while the enemy is touching the shield to land multiple hits and increase its destructive power!

Personally, in X1 I never really found myself using Shotgun Ice for more than Spark Mandrill Syndrome. Even the health upgrade you're supposed to use it for is easily obtained with Boomerang Cutter or just using your dash if you've already beaten Launch Octopus, which in the route I take, I usually already have. Nonetheless, I agree with your choices. X7 has a decent soundtrack, and I feel like that's all it has going for it.

Shadow Runner is suuuuper useful if you are doing stages like Sigma's palace without any of X's armor, especially for a first-time player. You can use it to wipe out those annoying dudes with the shields that are hard to break as the shot comes up on them from behind, as well as any of the ground enemies which are too low for X's buster shot to hit (and those ones that spit flames which make it risky going near with Zero). I used this to avoid damage before fighting Vile and Sigma without armor. Can also knock out those Sigma copies without even coming into range of their shots. I found it useful in a few other stages as well. It's definitely not for swarms or taking on something coming at you real fast but otherwise very convenient for clearing enemies out of your way before you even get near them.

Pumpkin Row I did forget to mention how fun it is against Blast Hornet, but otherwise I have to disagree. Gravity well takes so long to take effect that almost any other weapon can do it's job faster. And if an enemy is small enough to be effected by Gravity Well it could just as easy be taken out with the buster or ignored entirely.

***** I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my comment~ I can't recall which stage it was, but there's a part where water is pouring from the ceiling and you have to climb up the walls, and there's enemies up above you on both sides. A perfect runner actually mentioned how it was nearly impossible to get through there without getting hit, without using the Gravity Well to kill them before climbing up. There's also the fact that the attack doesn't actually have to be on screen to kill the enemies, and sheer amount of shots you have with it. It's not that I think it's one of the best weapons, just that I think it's good, and not so deserving of the title of "One of the most useless weapons". That's all.

Pumpkin Row I know the part your talking about and I've had good results with spinning blade, in my experience it takes the enemies out quicker then gravity well so long as you know how to aim it. I'll admit to it not being 100% useless but it's an incredibly situational weapon with said situations being more easily handled with another weapon.

I can see the Spinning Blade having better results for you, since you had more experience for the weapon, and used it in many more situations, so getting it to properly hit the target comes naturally for you. I always hated when the boss had a better version of the weapon than you inherit (or when the weapon you get is totally unlike what the boss used against you). To go oldschool, the Gutsman technique might've been okay if Megaman could summon blocks like Gutsman could; Bombman's bombs exploding on impact like his do would've been at least better; et al. Not an X series, but I still think the worst weapon of all time was Spark Shock. Let's make a rip-off version of the Ice Slasher but make it even worse: can't switch the weapon and enemy you've shocked can still hurt you if you touch it...

jajaja pretty fun video man, i actually agree with you except in guard shell. It is used now with a glitch for craaaazy boss kills on speedruns, and actually I have done some videos using it, but i don't know if X can exploit all the potential of the weapon, like Zero does.

+HOUND MX I didn't take that glitch into consideration for a few reasons, 1: I didn't know about it until after I made this video. 2: I don't think it works for X and I'm only counting his weapons. 3: It's a glitch, so if it's not an intended function of the weapon I don't take it into consideration.

That's why I choose to play zero. Zero were OP, But most skills are not very useful for bosses in X5 and X6. X6 Zero is fucking op, Zero with shield is like enhancing his saber hit 1>20+ times, 1 slash damages with shield, Bosses health drop below half of it's max health which make me doesn't even want to use dragon flies on Zero. I rather just use shield to make my saber damage being op the whole game. I will just do dash slash combo to boss for fast dead instead of skills on bosses. For Megaman/Rockman X4 there is only 5 bosses can do dash slash combo, so skills in X4 is quite useful. But they removed dash slash combo in Rockman/Megaman Zero 2,3,4 and Rockman/Megaman X 7,8. Zero 3,4 really need to combo skills with normal attacks.

I kept on waiting and waiting for the #1 worst weapon, and the worst weapon was never mentioned....spike ball from mmx5. That is the most useless piece of shit ever. I was really surprised at the choices in this video (not including MMX7), as I actually like most of the weapons that were picked as worst. Jet Stingray weapon was pretty awful. Crescent Grizzly weapon is also terrible.

I realize that this video is 3 years old, but I want to throw out my opinion on here anyways. My bottom 10 (Including 1 from each game): Dishonorable Mention: Meteor Rain (X6): Definitely would've made the list if I wasn't including one from each game. It's a worse Rising Fire, as it doesn't go through platforms. It's charge never seems to be practical, as in personal experience, the bubbles fell right on top of me most of the time, meaning I'd have to take a hit to land a hit. Shark Player also isn't very easy to hit with it until he jumps in the air. 10. Fire Wave (X1): Overall solid weapon, but a bit underpowered compared to the rest of X1's great weapon lineup. Would be a higher tier weapon in all other X Games. Charge is also underwhelming (Basically just Melt Creeper, another weapon I'm not a huge fan of). Good for killing moles in Armadillo's stage though. 9. Rising Fire (X4): X4's weapons are very good, but I'm not a fan of this one. I don't like the fact that it's a purely vertical weapon, and it ends up meaning that you can take a lot of accidental hits against Frost Walrus, though it does trivialize Sigma 1. X4 just doesn't have a lot of vertical sections to make this worth using, especially if you get it last like I usually do. 8. Parasitic Bomb (X3): X3, while not having any standout weapons other than maybe the Ray Splasher or Triad Thunder, also did not have any particularly weak weapons. Despite your gripes with Gravity Well, it also makes Blast Hornet the easiest boss fight in the series, and has some usability for certain sections. Parasitic Bomb does not make either fight I use it for significantly easier, and I still worry about deaths on Buffalo and Vile (I leave him for Doppler stages in my route). Aside from that, it just feels like every situation that you *could* use Parasitic Bomb, you'd just be better off using a different weapon, like Acid Burst, Triad Thunder, or Ray Splasher. 7. Sonic Slicer (X2): I dislike weapons with a long startup time, so this weapon frustrates me. It makes it hard to aim unless you are right up against the enemy. It doesn't move in a predictable enough pattern to make it's vertical movement helpful. The charge is good against most things, but in the one place it really needs to be good, the Serges Refight, it can easily just have shots eaten up by the vehicle. No way you hit him with the normal version unless you jump right at him or get lucky. Better off using Buster against Sigma 1 as well. 6. Firefly Laser (X5): The only bad weapon in X5 imo, the normal version is just not practical. It has a good charge version, but having to stand completely still while you move a firefly at a snail's pace at 1 enemy is not fun or well designed. I only just learned this week after playing the game over 20 times that the trail behind it can damage enemies, but there's no way you'll do that when it disappears after contact with literally anything. Plus, they used this weapon to design the worst way to get an armor piece in the series history, so I have to dock points for that. 5. Ice Burst (X6): Only redeeming quality is that it lets you get through Gate 1 without Zero or Shadow Armor to be able to beat Nightmare Mother easier, but only if you have the jumper chip. Otherwise it's range is pitiful and the charge is awful, especially against the maverick weak to it. 4. Crystal Wall (X8): Possibly the most situational weapon in the whole series. Given, I've only played X8 once now, and used Axl and Zero for most of it, but from what I've used of it, there are really not many situations where this'd do you any good outside of fighting Man O' War and getting rare metals. It lacks range and speed, and can only be used on the ground. It can break shields, but you could just use a charge shot or Green Spinner. It can protect you from bullets, but you can't move with it, so why bother with that? Again, there is no reason to use this over vastly superior weapons X8 has to offer. At least Axl gets a decent weapon from Trilobyte. 3. Moving Wheel (X7): This is a weapon that could've benefited from a lock on function. I don't hate X7's 3D controls as much as most people do, but trying to use this weapon in 3D is a lost cause, which is unfortunate, since the boss weak to it is fought in 3D. Add to that the fact that it can't hit Anteator when he goes on the bottom of the tube, and that it deals no damage to him even when you do land a hit, and it just makes it pointless. Better off just using the buster and saving Anteator for when you have enough health to tank his last phase. 2. Shining Ray (X8): I can see what they were going for here, but it suffers from a lot of the same problems as Crystal Wall. Only usable on the ground, slow, and unlike Crystal Wall, it can't break shields. It doesn't help that the bosses weak to it (Mantis and Sigma) are some of the fastest moving bosses in the game, and that Axl's weapon from Sunflower is one of his best, and one of the ones I used the most in my playthrough. If this weapon's projectiles were bigger and it could be used while moving or in the air, it might be good, but the buster is going to be better than it in almost all situations. As far as crowd control goes, X8 also has Drift Diamond, Squeeze Bomb, Thunder Dancer, and even Melt Creeper, which will all be better than Shining Ray in most situations. 1. Guard Shell/Gaea Sheild (X6/X7): Putting these together because 1: you talked at length about the Guard Shell, and 2. They're basically the same weapon anyways. But yeah, Both weapons suffer from being shields that don't actually work as shields, and having awful offensive utility. I didn't bother using the Gaea Shield at all in my playthrough of X7, as one use was enough to understand how bad it was, and watching this confirmed my suspicions. The charge of Guard Shell is decent, so that makes it slightly better than Gaea Shield in my books, but both are completely pointless. The worst part is that Zero's version of Guard Shell is even worse than X's! You have to equip it via the pause menu, every time, and if you accidentally equip it before going through Mijinion's boss door instead of after the fight starts, the shield will disappear and you can't equip another one!

Infinity Mjinion is my most hated Maverick too. I don't have too much of an issue against most weapon's in the X series since I don't use any of them much and use Zero, but I have to agree with a lot of the opinions on the weapons on this list. I think what it comes to the gravity well weapon I think I only used it consistently in three places one against the boss it's weak to, The spot you need to use it charged version to get the armor upgrade and the latter of small bots in neon tiger stage and the only reason why use that there was because it was a great place to farm for help to fill up the E-tanks

im surprised no one mentions the strike chain from x2 when talking about bad weapons. yeah its supposed to be used more for collecting upgrades, but most of the upgrades you can get with this weapon can be obtained with the leg parts instead. Plus its weak in power and isnt even effective as a weakness. and the charge is pointless. i don't feel a difference in power and the chain just changes to look like a battle axe. its only good for beating the final boss and thats all
