Fantastic list Pat. Great to know your favorite bands. I have a few suggestions for future episodes to take into consideration (in no particular order) 1. Bands and musicians I have fell out of love with (for instance for me these are groups I listened to all the time; now I can’t listen to their music including the material I was addicted to. These are Bruce Springsteen, Styx, The Doobie Brothers, Sir Paul McCartney, and U2 just to name a few, 2. The story of Horslips and tiering their albums 3. Best bands with female lead singer. Just a thought. Have a great day and keep on providing amazing episodes.

Nice list, Pat! Following is my own list. Clearly we agree on who our number 1 is! I have adored Deep Purple since I first heard them in 1972 or 1973. Certainly positions will change over time (and I have likely forgotten some), but I would say my top 8 or 10 has remained the same for years. The best of the best! Cheers! 1. Deep Purple 2. The Moody Blues 3. Black Sabbath 4. Elton John 5. XTC 6. Gordon Lightfoot 7. Stevie Wonder 8. The Guess Who 9. Kate Bush 10. Strawbs 11. Pink Floyd 12. Roxy Music 13. Shawn Phillips 14. CCR 15. Bad Company 16. Yes 17. Genesis 18. Jethro Tull 19. Frank Zappa 20. Here are some bands I would place in MY top 20 favourite bands :- The Beatles (of course) Camel (Andy Latimer is one fantastic guitarist) Caravan (I love the album 'In The Land Of Grey And Pink') Be-Bop Deluxe (another superb guitarist, Bill Nelson) Nightwish Supertramp

1. Half Man Half Biscuit Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Jimi Hendrix *, Led Zep, Kate Bush, Genesis, Black Sabbath, The Residents, David Bowie, The Stranglers, The Doors, Deep Purple, Brian Eno *, Lou Reed *, Frank Zappa *, Yes, Hawkwind (& offshoots, so would also include e.g. Motörhead amongst many, many others), Kraftwerk, Iron Maiden Taking favourites as what I listened to most over the last year (2024, top position only constant year to year, some lower positions likely to change substantially year on year, with bands dropping in / out as mood takes me year by year, e.g. some years would see a more prog feel Tull, ELP, Rush, (early) Marillion, Caravan, Hackett solo stuff etc. in the list, whilst other years may have a more hard rock / metal feel & see e.g. Rainbow, Priest & others surge in and up the list, whilst other years may see more blues / jazz & likes of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Miles Davis etc.) Also can be skewed by gig attendance, e.g. last year a friend of mine recommended I see Amyl & the Sniffers on their 2024 tour, so (not being familiar with them), I listened to their stuff a fair amount so I was 100% familiar with their work as I like to really know back catalogue of anyone I see live, and they were just in my top Spotify 20 listens last year (at 20) due to that. Listens generally based off 2024 Spotify stats, obviously lots of stuff I listened to on CD & vinyl but the top most listened to non Spotify stuff is (as far as my iffy memory goes these days!) generally in that list already (with a solitary edit of Maiden overwriting Amyl at the bottom of the list to take into account a lot of vinyl / CD Maiden played). * by an individual signifies including their work with others, not just “solo” stuff e.g. Eno covers his time with Roxy Music, Reed with VU, Hendrix with various musicians (though with the Experience was my preferred combination) etc.

Great selections and for me as time passes, I keep coming back to Deep Purple and Rainbow but it is mainly Blackmore …first heard Purple in 1969 their third album…went out and got the two previous and then every release as they came out …plus the earlier material by Blackmore and Lord…but what is it about Blackmore after all these years and much of the Blackmore’s Night material is amazing …I finally realized it is his sense of composition and melody - Take care
