@@memphissoulstew thank you. The more I look at it the more I recognize how many albums I forgot... ZZ Top at Rockpalast in 1980, Supertramp in Paris, the new Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon live, the various unplugged sessions (the Alanis Morissette one is so good), Soundgarden and Chris Cornell, Foo Fighters, The Police and Sting, Aerosmith, Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler. So many to add but so hard to stuff 100 albums in a top 25.

Glad to see Wings Over America. It's been my favourite Wings album ever since it came out. Jimmy McCulloch's guitar really makes it. It is underrated and almost always overlooked. I would have added the Kinks' One for the Road - another personal favourite of mine. Naturally, the Who should be number 1. But, your constant sell job of Grand Funk is beginning to make a dent... I might just have to check it out.

Great list! Never understood John Fogerty, bought this live album just a few months ago and it´s so damn good! I´d just add Golden Earring with their 1977 live album. On that record they sounded just like I always wanted them to sound in the studio. All songs are definite versions and I love them to death! Well I´m from Germany and so I want to include one album by a German band here too. And that one is "Live in London" by Amon Düül II. It´s no double-vinyl, no overlengthy improvisations but some of their early songs played very well and to the point!

Not easy at all but... 1.The Rolling stones - "Rocks off" (a bootleg recorded in Perth Australia Dec 1972, I am told that "Brussels Affair" might be even better but I don't have that one) 2. Lou Reed - "Rock'n Roll Animal" (fantastic sound - there is an extended version on CD) 3. Mountain - "Twin peaks" (double lp album with a version of "Nantucket sleighride" covering two sides) 4. Led Zeppelin - "How the west was won" 5. Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes - "Survival of the fittest" (a very unusual album since the material is all original bar one song: Prodigal man) 6. UFO - "Strangers in the night" 7. Blue Öyster Cult - "On some enchanted everything" (awesome version of "astronomy") 8. Iggy Pop - "TV-eye live" 9. Deep Purple - "Made in Japan" 10. UFO - "Live" 11. Rick Beato had a video titled "One Minute of Musical Perfection", which I completely misunderstood to be a, he will tell us his pick and we would tell him ours kinda thing. Anyhow I immediately knew my own choice, but I didn't know how long it was. So I timed it and it was almost exactly one minute . So my comment read : " The first minute of Paranoid on the Grand Funk Live Album ".

Agree with: Genesis -"seconds out", The Stones "ya-ya's", D.Bowie "Stage" (I had the LP in early 80's -and remasters since!), Led Zep' "Celebration" (had a video bootleg of the 2007, from the audience -very static, distant -so the official video is vital and fun compared), McCartney "Ameoba", LedZep' "Song remains" (the vinyl in early 80's frustrated me, hearing 'Moby Dick" -find it better to view), Yes, expanded Who "live at Leeds", Wings "over America", ....as a Canadian, you have a distinct lack of Rush "live",....We each have personal vibes.

Will take a WILD guess, and say, BOC's OYFOOYK would've been higher in your count had their "1-2 punch" of "Flaming Telepaths" & "Astronomy" been on that release. I believe Cult fans around the globe are still trying to figure out why those were not on there. Eric's pipes were at their peak in 1974/75, as witnessed on their woefully-recorded "Live 1976". That live rendition of "Astronomy" would've been THE live recording of it, were it not for the complete lack of the bass track of that whole release.

Don't get the point of having live CDs if you're not going to play them. Seems kind of pointless to me.

I play them all at some point, but some not that often. If I like an artist, I'll buy their live albums too.

Its a collectors thing. I myself have at last count close to 5000 CDs. Every visit to a thrift store or a Record exchange results in the purchase of great classic rock CDs at a buck or two. .

I generally prefer less Live LPs than even Larry but as you will see from my list we do have some overlaps. 1) *'The Song Remains the Same';* Led Zeppelin, 2) *'Live at Leeds';* The Who (IMHO the extended version is all the Who you really being need done better than the Studio versions, 3) *'Skulls and Roses';* The Grateful Dead, 4) *'Band of Gypsies';* Hendrix+, 5) *'Woodstock';* various, 6) *'Bongo Fury';* Zappa and Beefheart, 7) *'Live and Dangerous';* Thin Lizzy 8) *'Stage';* David Bowie, 9) *'Live at Pompeii';* Pink Floyd, 10) *'Parliament- Mothership Connection'* Live Houston 1976.

LOVE "Band Of Gypsies" from first listen to this day. We are lucky we got that performance recorded and released on that album.
