First of all, I would like to wish you Merry Christmas, and to express my gratitude for advising me (I was using a different nickname) to go and see Deep Purple on this tour! It was a great concert in Belgrade, Serbia, the arena was packed, great crowd, Don, Steve and Roger were on fire! Paice was solid, and Gillan was..you know :) Anyway, my favorite live albums are Kiss Alive! (although I become a fan because of Alive III) and DP Made in Japan, those bands are so good live, DP's virtuosity and jamming and Kiss's energy are something special - and these are my all time favourite rock bands. And Kiss is one of the few bands that could sound better live than in the studio.

Thanks Pete, great 25. When I was growing up in the 70s, as a schoolboy couldn’t always afford to buy those studio albums, so some of the time always opted for a live album, just to check out the band before investing in the rest of the catalogue, a formula that worked for me! Only one omission for me Rainbow Live On Stage...can’t complain though, as you got Deep Purple on your list twice! Thanks again.

Great list, Pete. Admittedly, I haven't heard most of your list, as I'm usually not big on Live albums but my 2 votes (as ignorant as I may be) are: Cheap Trick at Budokan (either version) and Framptom Comes Alive!

Whitesnake - Live In the Heart of the City is up there on my list as well. Just a great listen all the way through.

Not heard you mention Magnum in your videos - Marauder was their first live album, but they didnt yet have much of a song catalog at the time. Definitely worth checking out especially their first 5 albums (imho).

A couple of my favourites that aren't mentioned often, if at all, are FM/Live by Climax Blues Band and Live by Johnny Winter And. Both are absolute killer albums.

Hey Pete, I'm so glad you put Band of Gypsys on this list, and specifically mentioned the greatness of that Machine Gun. To me there is almost nothing greater than those soaring guitar moments in that song. Also, Robin Trower live!! That is another GREAT album.

Love LZ's "How The West Was Won," but give me the "Dazed & Confuzed" version from "Song Remains The Same," just incredible!

My gateway live album was Little Feat Waiting For Columbus. Might have lead me in a slightly different direction. I was playing cornet in the school brass band. So having Tower Of Power playing with them, didn't make them difficult to like.
