Seeing Carlos pulling on his moustache in London made me go all paternal! Sorry, for smacking you, but I think that you needed a little tough love. AND, I've see his cheeks up close and personal---the threading looks great.

Keeping the sides longer is a good tip. I was starting to do the sides shorter and my left side which isn't as dense as the right, looked visible more curly and unruly compared to the right. Now I'm trying my best to grow the sides out longer, and more so on the left slightly. Though it's still hard not to trim those strays that don't lay flat yet.

if you go short at the sides, the slow hairs which are growing less are not impacted (they grow slow) but difference is reduced. Beard is hair no different to hair cut and maintenance. Comb your beard, train it, cut it, sculpt it with intention for growth.

I've noticed thinning of the sides due to to much stroking and "pulling" of hairs, well at least I hope that's the problem. Currently trying to get my self in the habit of not touching it, which is easier said then done.

Playing with and pulling on your beard is tough one not to do. Especially if you have trichotillomania..its the one reason I always have to shave after I get to about a month or 2 of growth and cant get beyond that point.

Hey Carlos.. Great tips, as always. I have been growing my beard for about 8-9 months now, with few little trims to tidy it up. However my sides have always been a problem. Whenever it gets longer it's wavy or curly, the hair just shoot out in different directions. I've tried combing, brushing, using a styling balm - no matter what I do it looks messy, especially after I've washed my beard. So few days ago, just before I saw this video I did what you just mentioned NOT TO DO, I trimmed my sides short with intention of some sort of reset. To be honest I'am not 100% sure I like it, but I guess I will have to get used it for now and hoping to be patient and resilient not make the same mistake again. Your beard looks just awesome and I'm sure it took you months, even years to get to this stage, learning from your own mistakes. I've learned my lesson and just keep on growing now
@liamjordan3068
@liamjordan3068 6 жыл бұрын
Arek Burak I have the same problem and trimmed just like you about 6 weeks ago. I didn’t like it at first as the proportions looked off. I thought against any more trimming. 6 weeks later and it grows in really well so don’t fret it and leave it. The hair grows faster in places and it fills in nicer then you’d think.

Hey Carlos excellent advice. What do you suggest for contour on the bottom of the beard, how far under the jaw line and what angle? Also would you suggest shaping beard on face so there is a flowing directional line or allow gapping from patchy growth to fill in as it grows with time and then consider shaping? Thanks!

I pull at a specific area of my beard, kinda inline straight down from the corner of my mouth going to middle part of my chic on the side, wich i think is the worst place because it looks thin there and it looks like hair doesn't grow there, thankfully my wife is there to slap my hand down, or it would be completely bald in that area, But it started out as a reason as to why i started pulling at it wich is bad as well, it started out as looking and feeling for split ends, rather than trim them off i would pull it out, (I know very bad idea) but now its just a habit

What about those hairs that really hurt and have the bulb at the end when you pull them out. those are the ones that seem to fall out anyways, I'll be stroking the beard or stache and ill hit this one that hurts, i look in my 10x mirror to find it and as i go for it just falls out. I have a bad habit of pulling those even when they take some tugging. Most of the times im a winner and find these huge bulbs at the end. Is it ok to be doing that or just let em fall?

So depends on youre training and job-direction. Sorry for my bad English.

What’s your diet for a thicker beard? I have been growing my beard since July 2017 almost 3 month. The growth is good but needed some diet tips for thicker and fuller beard. Great vlogs. Keep up the good work. Cheerz
