This is easily one of the most underrated channels on the internet. I love all of your videos and have a question for you. If you were to recommend 4 or 5 exercises for incredible strength that would have a carryover for self-defense what would they be? We live in a crazy world now so I just want to be as strong as I can be for whatever may happen.

I would say 2 is huge. It mimics fighting for grips and setting up throws

See I think some of these workouts are great for accessory work I would never include them as a main movement. I find it really weird that strength coaches even ones that I respect suddenly go into the sort of woke CrossFit coach mentality as soon as we talked about training for jiu jitsu. Honestly I think that the strength training for jiu jitsu should be very similar to the strength training for wrestling since they're both grappling martial arts. Now I know there's some people who really like playing guard and getting into grip battles and stuff like that but then there are people like me who just like blasting single hitting snap downs and cranking guillotines. Honestly I feel like the deadlift has helped my Jiu-Jitsu more so than anything in this video. Also front squats and lots of back work to help with pressure passing. Also overhead pressing is going to help you when you need to build frames. I think this stuff is fine I wouldn't consider it the main part of my workout though.

Yeah bro definitely deadlift and front squats and blasting rope's for 30 seconds doing 15 sets with abs in between the 30 second blasting set's works for me.
