For the first time in decades I find my self without a motorcycle. I just sold the last Harley I will ever own. I bought it new for $37,000 and it broke down four times within the first year. I've been looking at Triumoh motorcyces and decided on the Speed Twin 900, but I don't like the shim/bucket valve lash adjustment system. So now I am looking at Royal Enfields. I like the Meteor 350 Supernova, but with the new Super Meteor 650 I have a very hard time decding which one I want. My wife has rode with me over the years and we have traveled well over 300,000 miles by motorcycles and camped out along our way. Lots and lots of fun. These days I don't know if she will ever ride with me again. She has battled cancer eight times and the last surgery she had left her like a stroke victim with her left side being crippled .With me riding a passenger I think I might be happier with the SuperMeteor 650 , but I like the charm of the single cylinder Meteor 350. I just can't make up my mind. Please help me. How is the Meteor 350 when riding two up?

Thank you, I’m retired now and recently looking very closely at the Meteor fireball in yellow. I just love the way the yellow works against all the black, and to be honest, I prefer caring for the big open-spoked alloys than wire wheels any day... I’m just looking for easy comfort and almost never exceed 60mph anyway, so I think that’s the bike for me. Thanks again! 😎
@MindfulMotorcyclist2 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, thanks for the comment. I agree the Yellow Fireball is a great colour choice. It's also now widely known that you can upgrade the Fireball with all the parts the Supernova has like a screen and pillion backrest for example. Of course the Fireball has a nice sporty vibe to it in any case so you may want to keep it standard. Agree wire wheels are a pain, I have them on my new bike and they are not fun to clean. I think the Meteor will be a fab bike for you. I have another video called final ride that might also be of interest to you. Good luck with the new Meteor, oh and also join he Royal Enfield Meteor 350 owners group on Facebook. Such a nice group and lots of useful info on there 👍

Another great video, thanks for doing it. Yes it is a simple engine but they do have a 'Cat' in the exhaust system, it's the black box that runs crossways across the bike just forward of the rear silencer and doesn't impact on the rear silencer which makes fitting alternative options easier. You'll love it even more when its fully run in and notice the difference in how smooth the engine is and better throttle response, although I do run mine on Super Unleaded as well. Had mine since July and am coming up to its 3000 service, the bike is like the day it left the showroom and isn't showing any sign of deterioration which is testament to the build quality that Royal Enfield have built into the Meteor. Look forward to future vlogs. 🙂👍

Another great comment, thanks for sharing info with me and other owners reading this. By the way are there now aftermarket exhausts available for the Meteor, I'd browsed the RE genuine ones but nothing aftermarket. I guess you'd hope to hear a little more of the lovely engine note. I'm looking forward to the uplift in smoothness when it's fully run in, I enjoy it now to be honest so if it improves then that's just a bonus 😄. Have you run it in bad weather or just dry sunny days only? To keep it so nice?

Had it absolutely filthy on one occasion having ridden around Devils Bridge and the Elan Valley, part of the enjoyment for me is cleaning, polishing and detailing and have to say it comes up as good as new. Will be doing some ACF50 treatment shortly to give it some winter protection. Had the Himalayan last Winter and that stood up to the winter ravages with salt etc. Remarkably well. I also have a Maxi Scoot so I will likely use that more during winter because of the added weather protection but having said that the Meteor will be used regularly.

You said it perfectly - a charismatic, charming little bike. I've had mine for just about 3 weeks, and am in total love with it. It's my favorite motorcycle I've ever owned, and honestly, I would never have believed I could say that about a 350cc. At first, I was a bit concerned that it would be just too small/slow for the riding I need to - I do have to hop on some freeways (speed limit 65mph, most do 75 though lol) on my commute - but it has done just fine. And I have found a few alternatives so I can skip the parts of the freeway where people REALLY fly. But there is just something magical about it. I got the Fireball Yellow, and it was truly love at first site. And after riding it - the comfort, ease, handling, sound of the motor - knew it was the perfect bike for me. One of the first things I did was adjust the shift lever up one notch on the spline (easy, 15 minute job) so I could use my toe for upshifting. I just couldn't get used to the heel thing. I put some nice saddlebags on it, changed the mirrors, and put a low ride seat on (I'm only 5'6"). Now, it truly fits like a glove. And coming from a bike that got 43mpg, I am LOVING the 80mpg I am getting. Great video! I subscribed, looking forward to watching more. Happy and safe riding - cheers from sunny Arizona, US!

That there are only 2 valves, and their adjustment is by screw-and-locknut, part of the attraction is the easy DIY maintenance. RE's warranty requirement that this must be done at a dealership lessens the bike's attraction.

Hiya I noticed your comment, I'm thinking of purchasing the meteor and considering buying the touring windshield...I'm only 5.6 tall do you feel I would need to purchase the clip on you mention? Another question is their a big difference in base yellow model and super over model etc...i thought I would just ad aftermarket bits when I have funds to improve it.. Thank you for you time.. Hope to hear back from you.
@johnrutherford427610 ай бұрын
@windwalker583 Hello. Yes I thought the screen deflector made a difference for me, however, I've since taken it off as the vast majority of my rides are back lanes at usually not more than 40mph. My super meteor stellar also has the pillion backrest, which I've replaced with the ordinary side rails. The reason for this was I couldn't fully open the lid on my Givi back box. If I was buying my meteor again I might consider a fireball as I quite like the blacked out understated look of it but I would retro fit the touring screen. That said I think the brown & black colour scheme on my supernova is the best of the bunch. Beauty of these bikes is the amount of parts available so you can personalise & customise to your hearts content. This can be done quite cheaply too, if you shop around.

I bought my Meteor way back in October- traded in a Vespa GTS 300 for it, and I can honestly tell you it was the best trade in ever! I love the bike, firstly it's comfortable, nippy, has a cool look to it and very economical to ride. However, just one thing could be improved - the lights, although I won't be riding it much in the winter thanks to the dreaded salt on the roads, I do think the lights could be improved. Yes, they are fine, but just fine, no more. High beam (well for mine) is non existent, I think I may have to have a word with the dealer and get them adjusted, as I think they are at the wrong angle. Apart from the lights issues, I think it's a great bike!

Actually the touring seat is actually harder than the standard seat,and not as long due to the raised lumber support area, but due to the construction the touring seat is more comfortable for longer periods and by moving ya butt you can gain relief from and pain, so basically if you want to ride for more than an hour and a half or so then the touring seat might be a better option for anything else the standard is fine, unless you just like the style of the touring seat.
