We've finally got our hands on one. The most anticipated small capacity bike this year and a brand new bike from Enfield. This is the Meteor 350. I hope you all enjoy the video. I did make a few not so relevant comparisons to sports bikes in this vid, just as I'm new to riding cruisers, also the camera position wasn't quite optimal as I have a new helmet, sorry about that guys!
Please give us a like and comment!

Great example of "under the speed limit" motoring fun. And I love that it's a mini cruiser, otherwise one might think it's underpowered. As it is, it's made to cruise at 50-60 and it does it well.

Completely agree, I'm really coming around to a more relaxed pace of motorcycling. It really has a lot of advantages and I felt very 'safe' at normal speeds. Also what it loses in performance it really makes up for in range, 300 miles per tank.

Great review. I bought one and it's getting delivered next week ( 12 January) I've had big powerful bikes for the last 45 years, I just sold my 1300 pan and I have an xj 600. I originally wanted a 650 royal Enfield but I had a test ride of the meteor and bought one as soon as I got back to the dealership. This bike is perfect for me and the riding I do these days. Thanks for the review 😊

Hi Chris, thanks for the comment and positive feedback, much appreciated. I've less experience than you and have only been riding for a few years. I got as far up the cc ladder as 600's and then the frustration with riding a sportbike on the road sunk in. I just wanted something comfortable and enjoyable to bimble around on these days. I also tried the Interceptor but it grab me as much as the Meteor did. I guess its also nice to experience the new model with the single and the balancer shaft, tripper etc all new innovations for RE. Thanks!

Thanks for the nice feedback. It was my first ride on one and you can almost tell in the review as time went on that I became less awkward more and more comfortable and appreciative of the bike. If you can get to grips with something in 25 mins it really says a lot about how fun and accessible the bike is. For me cruising is relatively new and yes it is super relaxing, you get off a sportsbike and its very much an adrenaline rush, this is much different. I'm going to go for the supernova just because of that brown paint job!

Got my Meteor Steller about 5/6 weeks ago, running in speed was painfully slow for the first 300 miles, but having had it serviced, I can go to the heady speed of 50mph! That said 50mph is fine for the country lanes and it pulls really well in 5th from around 30mph. Returning to biking after 30 years, I bought a sports tourer at the start of lock down, last year. With the stupid raised rear seat and panniers, it was a nightmare to get on and off of. So I then got a classic styled bike, which went far quicker than my old brain was capable of computing. The Meteor is perfect (sounds like Goldilocks!) I go around the country lanes at around 40-50mph, I change up early as recommended by RE and it just brings a huge smile to my face hearing the exhaust note! Rather than put off getting on the bike as I was previously, I now find I just want to get on and cruise about! Absolutely brilliant bike! Not for everyone, I agree, but for those looking to just go to work (obviously not me!) or go for Sunday rides or maybe tour the UK on the B roads, it doesn't get any better. The toe/heel shift was a pain initially, but now seems completely natural! Buy one and just enjoy the experience....

Thinking of getting this bike (haven't ridden in 20 years). 2 quick questions if you see this. 1. Would you replace the gear shift lever to a longer one for standard up-shifting instead of using your heel? 2. Would you sacrifice a little range for a fuel map change to get a couple of more horsepower? (Motorway speed limit here in Ireland is 120kph / 75mph) Nice review, cheers.

@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wayne, thanks for your comment. My Dad had a Harley 1200 Sportster when I was a kid and recently got back into riding, he chose the Mutt Mongrel 250. After 18 months of ownership I think he is looking for a little more power (especially when my mother is pillion). He is talking about a HD again... To answer the questions: 1. Probably not, I'd just get used to it. It's a little like fitting a gear indicator on a bike that doesn't have one standard, I know it would be handy but I'd rather get accustomed to riding without one. I'd rather get used to the factory set up. 2. Again probably not, I wouldn't remap because I don't think power is the desired attribute on this little bike. I think the frugal nature and comfortable ride would be fantastic for touring. Unless you were commuting on the M-way it wouldn't be the road of choice, I think B roads would be more suitable and fun. If horsepower is a requirement then perhaps wait for the Meteor 650 which is rumoured to be in the works? The Interceptor 650 is quite a bit more torquey and will do 85mph (see my review on that bike). In my research for these videos I saw a stat that Enfield are releasing no less than 27 bikes in the next few years. There is bounded to be a bigger capacity cruiser in there. Thanks for the feedback :)

@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 жыл бұрын
I would love to say it'll be fine on the motorway as I have ordered one. However, it seemed like a bit of an effort to hit 70-75mph... you'd be in the inside lane most likely at 60 and that would be comfortable. Wind buffeting wouldn't be too much of a problem I don't think.

@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting point. My experience in the USA is that roads are wider, traffic density is lower and higher speeds are possible although certainly not legally permitted. If you were to have a RE it would have to be one of the larger capacity bikes. Here in Europe a single cylinder is perfectly adequate but I think for the USA this wouldn't be the case. I'm sure lots of meteor US owners may disagree but I'm not sure that the US is a high priority market for RE. I didn't mention the head wiggle as I had to push the bike fairly hard to get that effect.

I didnt like the sky blue (Supernova) but did like the Brown so that worked for me. The Fireball def looks the most sporty of the three with no backrest and blacked out trim and exhaust so I guess will sell the most. I think Stella or Supernova will be a little lesson common on the road.

I like the Meteor 350, but I fear it might be a little under powered for my region. I live in SE Ohio just across the Ohio River from West Virginia where we have some beautidul motorcycles roads. But with the beautiful scenery we also have steep hills and mountains and I usually ride two up. My wife and I have ridden well ove 300,000 miles on motorcycles, but she has battled cancer eight times and these days can't walk without a walker or a good grip on my arm. So our riding is very limitied to local rides, no more motorcycle vacations, no more camping out with a pup tent. I've been debating between the Meteor 350, the Celestial blue Super Meteor 650, the Triumph Speed Twin 900 and the Triumph Speed 400. All great bikes, which makes it very hard to choose just one. The Meteor 350 is the least expensive and will probably do what I want as far as local riding. I rarely go over 65 MPH. I am just a bit concerned about the hilly area where I live. What do you think? Should I go with the Meteor 350? Or should I spend more money and buy a bike with more power?
@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 ай бұрын
Hi Gene, sorry to hear about your situation, I'm sure that has been incredibly tough and well done for just being where you are today. Given the situation I would 100% go for the celestial blue. It's got more power, plus it's got the back rest which will offer her support, the engine is smooth and tuned for torque. You can fit luggage for it, even if not for a long rides take a picnic and enjoy the countryside. It's 240kg but the weight is low down and the Meteor 350 isn't exactly light itself at 213kg (sorry not sure of the numbers in lbs). If you're strong enough for a bigger cruiser then I would suggest that one. My gf actually was a little bored on the Meteor 350, because it was underpowered. It gets old having to hold the throttle wide open in 4th (not 5th) to reach 70mph. Other options could be the Kawasaki Vulcan 650 (lots of power) or honda rebel (500/1100) but SuperMeteor not bad choice at all. Hope that is useful. All the best to you and the wife, Sean
@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 ай бұрын
P.s not the triumph 400, it's very buzzy and short geared in 1st and 2nd. Won't be as nice 2 up. Plus they've got reliability issues here in the UK with the immobiliser light not going out and bikes not starting. Triumph are now receiving them from India and putting them through Hinkley for QC before release to dealers. Not something to get involved with. The 900 could be nice and loads of power....

@@MindfulMotorcyclist I find it funny that you mentioned picnics. When Covid was really bad that's exactly what we did. We packed some bologna sandwiches and a can of root beer, stopped along our way and enjoyed a picnic. I really enjoyed them, too, more so than a fast food restaurant. I know the 650 would be the better choice if she is able to ride with me again. But for right now I might just go with the 350 and if she is able to ride with me some where in the future I will upgrade to the 650. In her condition she might not ever be able to ride again. That's why I'm going with the 350, just to give me something to go for a ride once in a while. I am 70 years old and she is 68. She's had 12 surgeries , maxed out on chemo, radiation and cyber knife treatments. She is currently on immunotherapy treatments and will be every 28 days for the rest of her life. Three or four years ago she had a total hip replacement surgery that didn't go well because the radiation she had in 2011 ruined the blood flow to her hips. One month later had brain surgery to remove one place of cancer that the radiation and cyber knife treatments couldn't kill. She had six places on her brain, three in one lung, cancer on both sides of her colon (she now only has 1/3 of her colon left. The radiation she had in 2011 melted her small intestines and only has 1/3 of her small intesteines. It all started with female cancer but by the time the doctors found it, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. She still has a spot in one lung, her liver and one kidney. Even after all this we have enjoyed motorcycle riding for many years and camped out in a 7X7 pup tent along our way. We have traveled well over 300,000 miles over the years and enjoyed every mile. It's just now my wife's condition has worsen that she might not be able to ride. She tells me that she will probably never ride again, but if I buy the 350 Meteor maybe I can talk her into riding again, them upgrade to the SUPER METEOR 650. Time will tell. Wish me good luck Ride safely and enjoy every journey.

In India, the roads are not suitable for high speed, but what do you think in your place? Is the bike fine or should've been faster?
@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 3 жыл бұрын
I think the Meteor is fine for UK roads. People will always want faster bikes but I think this misses the point of the bike. It's a cruiser not a sports bike. If you were to make the bike faster the price would then increase in line with the extra displacement/cylinders and it would then compete in a different market segment. RE know what they are doing with this bike ☺
