Thanks for the tips man! I'm 5 pounds away from hitting my goal weight of 160lbs and then I want to focus on building muscle the right way. My takeaways from this video: -Target each muscle group twice per week -Focus on the quality of the calorie and eating lean protein -Take your vitamins -Rest up

Skip the 5 pounds and just start now. When you first start weightlifting, especially if you are overweight, your body is super good at turning fat into muscle. You'll literally turn those 5 pounds into bonus muscle over the next 1-2 years.

I agree!... Will has a way of showing you that you can get fit within "Reasonable Means"! It really doesn't have to be super strict. BTW, if you do train in a super strict way, you probably won't last very long at it. Then on the other hand, there are people that are complete fanatics and do great. I'm a 77 year old guy that never had to worry about what I ate, because I was so active all my life I didn't really gain weight until the pandemic hit. So, then I gained approx 50-60 pounds. I late July my Dr. mentioned the word "Diabetic" Now I watch videos like Wills to learn and understand eating and working out. So far I've lost about 30 pounds. with 20 more to go. This is where its a little more challenging trying to lose weight while building the muscle back Anyway, I'm going to try the Shepard's Pie recipe

2:52 Will, thanks for showing your progress bro. I started weightlifting + eating more calories about 8 months ago too and feel I've hit a plateau for the past 3 months even though I've kept my diet and training more consistent than ever before in the past (at times taking a week off to recover or just cause my schedule is too packed with studio work). Seeing your very slow progress is a relief because I've quit at plateaus many times in the past thinking that my metabolism is too fast, and I will always be skinny and scrawny no matter how hard I try. There are so many dudes out there promoting these 'get ripped quick in 3-6 month' routines out there that I've fallen for, and when you look into it they're promoting taking in so many chemicals that it just doesn't seem natural anymore. Then, when I look at channels like yours or Cole Hastings, it takes A WHILE to bulk up. I've come to realize more and more that it's gonna take years to see BIG results, and now I'm fine with that because I'm loving just going to the gym, and seeing my strength increase at my own pace.

Big fan of the low and slow approach to building muscle. First couple months of training I tried eating like an idiot and put on 10 lbs fast. Needless to say, it was mostly fat, and I became unhappy with my body (not to mention the dreaded face weight). I then had to go through 6 weeks of cutting to get back to a body fat % I was happy with, which sucks for a foodie like me. I quickly realized, that whether I was in a bulking phase or a cutting phase, there was always going to be some aspect of my lifestyle I was unhappy with, whether it was my body fat % or my diet. That’s no way to live, and certainly no way to maintain a positive mindset or good mental health. I’d much prefer to be happy with how I look 24/7, continue to make incremental progress at a slightly slower pace, and enjoy the foods I love every day. Low and slow baby. It’s a no-brainer for me.

I pretty much felt like giving up on living a healthy and sustainable life until I found some of your videos, of course with the help of a lot of other factors as well and my faith that kept me going through the struggles of life that go beyond fitness. @PistolPete19803 жыл бұрын
@@TheJpep2424 Yes you can get great muscle growth while you fast. But muscle growth is really about time. You cannot fast track it (unless enhanced by drugs). If you are constantly feeding your muscles throughout the day they will continue to grow throughout the day. If you don't eat all night and then not eat for another 4-8 hours, your muscles wont grow during that time period. So you missed out on that window. If you eat all your protein in 1 to 3 meals in an 8 hour window, your muscles will grow but not at 100%. As for how how much gains you are missing out on. I'm not really sure.

Bro this video… this is the video… like, it’s THEE video… if you are a young man between 14 and 40 and you’re looking for advise on literally every single thing you need to know to get in the absolute best shape you’ve ever been in your life… than this video is the ONLY thing you need to do just that… Like.. This is like 100 videos worth of Information smashed into 1 consumable size video… Quite literally.. like you did, with the shepherds pie. Video is saved and I’ll probably be watching this once a week to study each part and implement it Into my own life… Best mens health/fitness video ever made. Thank you.

The only fitness “influencer” I follow now. Loved you speaking out for black lives and also your creativity/hard work in all of your videos! One request: could you put your workout split somewhere in written form?
@delfilipino954 жыл бұрын
I’m just being lazy and was hoping it was written somewhere so I could look at it at the gym! Easy enough to watch and record on my own tho

Usually I skip through the videos via the skip 10 sec button to get the tips to filter out the fluff but there is no need to on this channel when Will is actually one of the only channels that are super entertaining! Also how come your channel doesn’t show a subscriber count?

Build muscle in a calorie deficit and at maintenance levels? You have no idea how good that makes me feel. Started making some gains for the first time in my life and went down the gym guy youtube rabbit hole and have been overwhelmed by the calorie surplus and protein intake recommendations. I'm still in the hole but a light just came on. Thanks Will.
