Lol Randy.. had to giggle at that. By the way men lose testosterone as they age it's called andropause which is similar to menopause in women. No matter the gender we both carry estrogen and testosterone. And we both carry many other hormones as well. You're doing great Renee. I went into peri menopause at age 45 while actually on the birth control pill. I discussed the history of my cycle with my doctor, she thought it was just weird. She never considered that the reason I was put on the pill in the first place was my cycle started at age 11 then stopped completely at age 15 .. no one tested me for PCOS .. but looking at my health and life now in hindsight pretty sure that is what it is/was.... I'm like you thankfully no pads or tampons to carry etc... no cramps etc..

At age 32, after the birth of my second son, I stopped having periods. I never got them again since I had become pregnant. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure which is basically early menopause. It can even happen to teenagers. I had never been so excited in my life to know that at age 32, I was done having periods!!! And I never experienced any menopause symptoms either. No hot flashes. Nothing!! Win Win in my book!! That was almost 20 years ago and I'm still loving it!!

You're video is so encouraging for me, thank you. I started menopause at 50, now I'm 68 and having problems with a fibroid tumor. I have heavy bleeding and pain on my right side just above my hip. It puts pressure on my bladder and bowels and I pee all of the time. Sometimes I feel as if I have to have a bowel movement, but then nothing happens when I go to the bathroom. I feel bloated a lot as well. The gyno told me it's unusual for post menopausal women to have fibroids like this. She said she thinks it's been there for a very long time, and I agreed. It's probably been growing for a long time. A hysterectomy is most likely in my near future and I was so fearful of it, but after watching your video I'm encouraged and feel more confident that it's the right choice.

All those organs removed are located below your Umbilicus. The best thing you can do is exercise and strengthen that core. After menopause is when you get that spare tire that goes around to your back! You can start by just holding your stomach in and trying to imagine your belly button touching back toward your spine and holding that a few seconds. A strong core and good posture (which you have already) will keep your insides healthy and your aging strong!

I'm two and a half weeks post my TAH + oophorectomy. My story is very similar to yours and I totally agree with you 100% about the ovaries. I'm 53. I didn't want the perimenopause symptoms even without my uterus. And as far as I was concerned I only had a few egg producing years left before I would experience menopause anyway so I was just delaying the inevitable. And I happen to be an oncology nurse. Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect and doesn't present a lot of symptoms until it can be quite advanced. I don't want to go into details or unlock a new fear in anyone. This is how I feel. In essence, in the capacity of my profession it's one of the cancers that really scares me. So, I completely applaud your decision. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Hi neighbor! My surgery was done in Nashville by Dr NumNum......a highly regarded Oncology Gyno Surgeon. I knew I was in good hands. I understand that the fears, concerns, and anxiety are real. My best advice is accept that you are having the procedure. Wrap your head around what will be happening to your body and understand you will need time to heal. When your mind starts to wonder off to the "what if"....stop yourself right then. Don't go there. The morning of my surgery, I was so nervous I basically was not present. I just blocked everything out and forced myself to get to the point of anesthesia. Once I woke up, I was fully engulfed in the pain but had prepared myself for that moment. I wish you the best and will keep you in my thoughts. Just know that you will be ok. It will be over....it just takes time. 💗

@WELCOMETOMYCURLS. Hi Renee - I found your videos after being told that I needed surgery. My pathology report came back as precancerous so I had a total hysterectomy as well. I agree - leaving the ovaries, tubes, and cervix can all lead to cancer after the fact. Plus, for me, being post-menopausal made it an easy decision. Once everything was removed, however, the pathology came back as Stage 1B in the uterus. While the cervix was noted as nonmalignant, who is to say that some cancer cells didn't get into an area not put under the microscope. So I am now biding my time and healing before I see the Radiology specialist. I am coming up on 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. I can't thank you enough for being brave and speaking out and taking us on this journey with you. Although everyone reacts differently, you have helped me understand what I went through, what I am currently experiencing, and what I can expect in the future. You are awesome! Thank you! ❤

Hi Renee. I read somewhere that after a hysterectomy, the spine can collapse which means your lower rib cage can now sit on top of your pelvic bone which will cause the waist line to widen as well as your hips. I’m sure your doctor will mention that. That’s the one thing I’m nervous about because I already have a short torso so I don’t have any more waist to lose. 😂 My procedure is scheduled for next month due to an enlarged uterus and fibroids. I was fine but after that very slowly lost my eyebrows, hair thinned, got depressed, insomnia, severe joint pain, but the most horrible thing was I lost my energy and zest for life. I’m back on them now for one month and I’m better but still need tweaking. I tried different diets like keto, even carnivore and intermittent fasting and could absolutely not manage my hormones in my own. You are younger than I am and our stories are different but I’m just so happy too like you that I just take a pill and the guesswork is gone. You may have to have the dose adjusted as time goes on and might not always want that patch. It got to be a nuisance for me. ❤

Renee thank you so much for all of your hysterectomy vidoes. Im 46, im childless and i have a scheduled hysterectomy next month. I have mixed feelings of course because of all the suffering I’ve experienced with all of my fibroids. Throughout the years ive had them removed during our fertility journey. However as ive gotten older the fibroids have grown and they’re now in places that are hard ti get to. So my only option is a hysterectomy. Enter the grieving process of not having a child. But again i want to thank you so much for these videos ❤️they are so helpful

Hello, I am so grateful to hear that having a hysterectomy is not that bad, it gives me relief to know that if after my biopsy I need to have it done it will be way better for me. I am tired of being tired and anemic, I have a lot of fibroids and for months I had been feeling really sick, my lower back hurts and now I know why I have to go pee so often. I was kind of scared but after listening to your video I feel more positive about it. ❤ Thank you 🙏🏻

You look great !! I am 3 wks post op. Partial Hysterectomy posterior anterior vaginal and bladder repair with a Burch mesh I’m walking slowly but am recovering nicely. I’m feeling pain when urinating but I’m sure that’s from the mesh. I had given birth 5 yrs ago and my baby was stuck in my canal …trying to push him out. That reshaped some things down there. The doctor lifted my bladder etc and made repairs. I’m just happy that I did it. I still have my ovaries but had cyst removal Fibroids endometriosis… Intercourse was painful. In nut shell I am just happy not to be hurting. Not rushing anything The people in my home are going to have to work through this and take on the household duties

I had a complete hysterectomy also 6 months ago. I’m 49. My hormones are still not balanced. I’ve used the patch and it caused irritation and pain on the site. Lately, my doctor has been treating me with an estrogen gel. I’ve been on .25%, .50%, and now 1%. I just had bloodwork done last week so hopefully that will show us what my levels are. I swear my hormones are causing me to feel crazy and cranky as well as tired all the time. Thank you for posting your journey.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your journey. I found you a week after having the same surgery you had. I also had fibroids, 2 of them totaling just over 10 pounds. I had just turned 60 when I had my surgery in June of this year. I went through menopause around age 45 without much difficulty. I started having a lot of pain and discomfort about a year ago. Finally one day it was so severe I thought my appendix might be about to burst. After an ultrasound the fibroid’s were discovered and the surgery discussion began. Like you I decided to have it all removed. I have a family history of uterine and other cancers. I really did not have any trouble making the choice to have it all removed. My surgical journey was much like yours. I also had laparoscopic surgery. I was able to go home home within 3 hours of the surgery. I was sore, but managed the whole recovery with extra strength Tylenol and Motrin. No pain pills! Within 3 days I was able to get in and out of bed on my own. The bed was my biggest challenge since I have a tall bed and I’m only 4’11. 😅 The one big unforeseen thing that happened to me was that I got shingles in my lady parts! YES. Shingles! The pain of this when I urinated was more than I could stand. At first I had no idea that this wasn’t normal, I just thought it was probably pain from the vaginal removal of my uterus. By day 4 I couldn’t take it any longer so I called the doctor. She was in surgery for the day. The nurse recommended getting Aquafore to ease the pain. That didn’t help. I couldn’t even put it on because the pain was too bad. The next day I called the doctor again. They had me come in. My doctor streaked when she saw how raw and sore the area was. She had never seen this happen in 30 years. She biopsied it. The result was shingles! The only thing we could figure out was I must have gotten a small abrasion during surgery and with the added stress of my dad and mom being I’ll, plus the stress of the surgery it created the perfect storm. She put me on a medication that started helping within two days. Thank the Lord! She said they should not come back. Again, thank the Lord! I’m now five months out and doing pretty well. I do get sore and have a stinging feeling if I lift too much or cut the grass with the tractor. I do notice that the area around my incisions gets really red after a shower every day, my whole belly across the area gets red. It’s kinda strange, but not painful. I also cannot rest my hands on my belly yet especially at night when I’m lying down. Thank you again. You were a guide to me in my journey and I appreciate you for sharing your experience.

This video is right on time! I am 4 days postop from a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy. I have also developed a pretty nasty hematoma at 1 of my lap sites. I feel like I can relate to your story. I am 51 and also had to have infusions for an extremely low hemoglobin (5.7). I’m currently filling my time with reading & trying to take it easy. I’m reading Verity now. I so appreciate all your videos on your hysterectomy, it’s was what lead me to your channel!

Ohhhhh the hematoma! They are horrible! It will cause you to need more rest and a bit longer to heal so take it easy. Don't lift a single thing! It won't cure my chronic iron deficiency anemia, but at least this they will be able to stop this bleeding. I have been requiring weekly iron infusions for over a year. Thanks for sharing this! I was skeptical to watch "subjective or personal" perspective. I literally scrolled past your video and others to only watch videos shared by doctors. I didn't want negative information prior to having the procedure. But to my surprise, your video was extremely helpful. I'm a doctorate student, married, 45 yr old woman who had a little concern about removing my ovaries for mood and intimacy issues. I experienced chemo induced menopause 2 yrs ago for breast cancer. Now I want to reduce the risk for distant recurrence along with the fibroid issues and pelvic pain. Thank you very much ❤

Hi, Renee. Thanks for this video, very reassuring. My surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, 9/27/23, so I’m busy trying to figure out things like what I can wear home from the hospital because I know my stomach will be sore, and how to make things easier for my husband since he will be doing a lot of things I usually do for a while. I have endometrial cancer and will have a total hysterectomy. I’m praying the surgery will be the cure, but I won’t know until after the biopsies are back and the cancer is staged. Needless to say, I’m really nervous about that! Something you mentioned in this video really caught my attention, because I’ve been wondering the same thing about changes in my belly for a couple of years now. The difference is, of course, you’ve already had your surgery. A couple of years ago I noticed a little midriff pooch, almost overnight. I was 74 years old then and have always had a flat midriff area. Any fat I had would accumulate in my lower belly. I went through menopause in my fifties, so I didn’t think the change in fat location was caused by hormonal changes. I did discuss it with my doctor, and since then another doctor, but have not had a satisfactory answer. Basically, they can guess at things, but they don’t know why it’s there. Over the last couple of years, the bulge has gotten progressively larger, without a weight gain to explain it. I am at a loss to understand and it’s large enough now that it affects the kinds of clothes I wear and I’m becoming self conscious about it. I’m very active, but no amount of exercise or even weight loss affects it. I would be very interested to know what your doctor says when you ask him about your little bulge. Would you please be so kind as to let me know, or cover it in one of your videos? I know all bodies are different, but perhaps his answer may give me some insight into my problem. I’m a little worried now, too, since I’m going to have a hysterectomy next week, and wondering if it will eventually make this bulge even worse. BTW, you look great, and I can see by following your videos how much you have healed and improved over the last six months. I’m so happy your hysterectomy has been a positive experience and that you’re feeling so well and happy now. I look forward to being there six months down the road, something to look forward to! Thanks again for sharing your experience. It has been very helpful to me to have some idea of what to expect with my surgery.

It was horrible...the whole shebang of night sweats, irritation, and I had a horrendous period that lasted 90 days which made me anemic! I am so glad it's finally done and my hormone levels have settled down. It was definitely a wild ride...Lol! I still get a hormonal surge every once in a while but all-in-all I'm doing good. I’m one of those women that messaged you prior to my hysterectomy. I had it on May 3rd. I also had my ovaries, tubes, and cervix removed. I have women asking me that same thing “ why did you let them remove your ovaries “. I had cyst on my ovaries and chances of ovarian cancer was concerning so my doctor suggested removing them. I was on oral estradiol but have switched to pellets. I have Testosterone and estrogen pellets. I feel amazing. I feel like I did in my 30s. I’m 52. My husband is a very happy man. 😂. The pellets are a little pricey, but at this point, I would give a limb so I could get them. Thank you for posting your journey.

Hi Renee! Im so thankful for surgeons hands. I just had a total hysterectomy on the 22nd of March. I am sore but getting around. I havent showered yet but prior to my hysterectomy I was dying with endometrial cancer so it was total. Day 4 everything is starting to feel again. I have found because I'm still taking opioids that Im taking senna tabs and colon cleansing tabs and man that has been such a help. Ive already stepped down from hydros. Now its tramadol and ibuprofen but I feel so different like very calm but I definitely attribute it to my Lord Jesus. Im wandering if Ill need that estrogen patch or not. The surgeon took my nodes too. Not all but the two closest to the area. Im praying I dont have lymphodema. I think if Im careful I will be ok. Gott watch the sodium. Thankyou for your videos. They helped get me through and just eased my mind.
