My Toyota GR Supra - REAL Thoughts After 6 Months!

I have owned the new 2020 Toyota GR Supra now for half a year, and despite being the limited A90 Edition it's been driven a fair amount. However, there are some questions to answer about it plus some feedback and dislikes now that I'm more familiar with getting behind the wheel. Not only that, but there's also a very small change to be made...
One of the most commonly asked questions about my Toyota GR Supra is why I don't have PPF on it, particularly given it's the collectors A90 Edition? The majority of the Shmeemobiles have full paint protection film installed at Topaz but not this car, despite it being one of only 24 UK RHD examples in total. The reason for that is that it is specifically noted in the guideback (in a way you can't miss it) that the paint will not be covered by warranty if you do - and of course therefore I have followed the manufacturer's advise on the topic.
Up to this point the only 'modification' away from how the car was delivered has been to adjust the positioning of the front number plate. Originally it would have a plate bracket that is drilled into the front nose cone but for many reasons that's a no go and as such the alternative solution has been to use the towing eye holder. The question this has posed though is what happens to the air flow through the vent behind it... while much to your surprise this isn't actually a vent at all but just a plastic piece to look that way, so there isn't a negative result of doing so.
There is however one small change to make today; long overdue, but to install the 1/90 A90 Edition dashboard plaques that fit along the air vents. When the car was original delivered we were notified these would follow, but they did actually come first suited for a LHD car. This was quickly rectified by Toyota GB and the replacements arrived although it has taken me a while to be organised and fit them to mine where they now look great.
The car is now about 6-7 months old and has done almost 4,000 miles, so during a run out for the supermarket shopping, let's have an update on how it is going and some of the things that I dislike about it now that I've spent much more time behind the wheel. Often when I am heading somewhere off camera, it is the Supra that gets used because it's a great and easy daily car, but there are a few things about it I would change if I could!

Props for keeping the Supra stock, but one "modification" I wouldn't mind seeing done is removing the secondary "TOYOTA" badge from the rear. It looks odd, and it's not something cars here in NA have, since it's apparently the result of a trademark concern over there, or something. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the classic Supra badge would need to be readjusted, but it doesn't like it would need to be moved, just comparing UK cars to NA cars.

It scared me the first time it happened, I thought I hit something on the road. Hello Shmee, you should install a 10mm hard rubber mat pad up against the concrete wall, so that when you open the car door to the Supra, it doesn't damage the paint

Hey Tim, I've ordered a 2021 A91 edition Supra. There will be 500 black, and 500 Refraction Blue ones made for the USA. I've put a deposit on a blue one. Hoping to see it soon. The Launch Edition were individually numbered. They didn't get a 1/1500 plaque but each had a number. 253/1500 etc.

My wife uses her Supra as her daily and she loves it!!!!! Since she's 5' 2", the low roof line is not an issue. When I get the opportunity to drive it, I do find I have to fold my 5' 10" frame into the seat very carefully as not to smack my head. Like you, my wife is keeping hers 100% stock, much to the amazement of a friend of mine who's active in the San Diego tuner community.

@shmee150 just a little tip, try to hit the unlock button 2 times within like 2 seconds. The window should go down more than half way when opening the door rather than just that top little bit.

To enter the car, you should look in the setting if the " confort entry " is activate. In all 2-doors BMW, you have to press twince on the button of the key and the window go down as soon as you open the car. it makes the entry a lot easier

Tim, your MK5 Supra is probably the best Spec i have seen. Also, you have done the right thing to keep it stock so far, the previous generation Supras (MK4) are worth loads of money especially stock Twin Turbo Ones so this will surely be valuable in the future!

Stick a piece of adhesive foam on the wall opposite where the door will touch. You can than rest the door against the wall when you get in and not damage the paint work. 👍🏻

All of the new Toyota's have that over enthusiastic lane assist. There is an option in the settings to turn it off though while keeping the other safety features active.

Thank God you are leaving it stock. These cars have a very nice line. The number of KZbin creators that instantly did hideous mods with wide bodies, wings etc was mind numbing. Then they all dumped these destroyed cars. I appreciate that you got a collector edition and are treating it with respect. This will no doubt occupy a brief period in your garage, but someone will ultimately enjoy the car in its stock form.
