Thank you for sharing! I was a heroin addict and overdosed....and after I was narcaned I literally cried out and said "Jesus if you are real and you care about me I need to know now" bc I was going to kill myself again....In that same moment I felt like warm butter poured over me...and instantly downloaded in my mind that yes he is real and yes he loves me. It has been 4 years but I kid you not...just like the bible says - if you get closer to him he will come closer to you. Ask him if he is real and he will reveal himself to you. Jesus is King. Feel free to ask me any questions! Love this channel!

Just to make sure I'm really clear (and for people who don't read the video description) -- this is not a religious video and this will be the ONE and ONLY time I talk about my spirituality in my videos. If the topic of spirituality makes you uncomfortable, just skip this one. You don't need to worry about the tone/tenor of this channel changing. This is not me pushing my beliefs on anyone. This is only me sharing my feelings about drawing strength from "Something Bigger". That can be God, the Universe, Nature, whatever. If you don't believe in any of that, we can still be friends -- heck, I'm married to an atheist. Either hit the [back] button or jump to 12:10 where I talk about Penn Gillette and how he got me to meditate.

Serious Keto I appreciate your concern about clarification but I pray that you’ll be open to the promptings of possibly sharing more about your spiritual journey. More often than not I’ve learned to “never say never”. You can never please everyone. That said this is your channel.... do as you wish.

Steve, I hope this ISN'T the last time you speak of your spirituality. It is as much a part of you as is your channel subject. You are not pushy or annoying and I find your talk of spirituality very inspiring, probably because I am not real spiritual myself, but you make a lot of sense and its nice to see its affect with you.

Good on you! I'm a pretty hard atheist, and you probably would have a tough time convincing me on many areas of metaphysics. However, I do believe that people should share their views on this - we're all blind humans, born with no manual, no instructions, trying to find our way. If you find a way that brings you happiness and makes you a better person, who am I to judge you negatively on that?

Serious Keto Steve this sharing was profound. I am a spiritual person with a father that was not the best. I never thought about my relationship with God the Father as the need for a father figure in my life. It was a very touching moment for me and I thank you for that. Your “thought” Do you trust me” no doubt was the Holy Spirit. It is a life changing event when that happens. It happened to me many years ago as I was stymied as to what I needed to do to help a sick patient. So I prayed for help. The answer that came could not have been my own....like I said...I didn’t know what to do. The answer so amazed me that I got down on my knees to pray. Let me tell you it changed my life. So I wanted to share some private thoughts with you. Now I too have wanted to meditate. I will look up the program that you mentioned. Thank you so much for putting this out there. Have a blessed Christmas.

Hi Steve…I’m going to start by saying that I never thought that looking for a low carb/keto recipe for corn tortillas was going to lead me to you. I’ve subscribed your channel and daily for the past week & a half I’ve been watching your older videos on KZbin trying to catch up with the “now”. Your recipes, insight, & product testing have helped me a lot. But today, something has changed. I did not expect that a channel that I look forward to watching on KZbin was going to go in the direction that this video went. The last 2+ years for me have been, to put it mildly, hell. In January of 2020 my loving wife of 28 1/2 years told me that she wanted a divorce- that was just the start of it and I don’t wish to go into it any further on here. I knew that our marriage wasn’t “perfect” but pretty “average” with no physical abuse or anything like that. No gambling, drug or substance abuse, or alcohol abuse. However, I knew that there were parts of my life that needed improvement. I knew that I wasn’t the perfect husband. Shortly after my wife told me the news I decided to live my life in such a way that I just want to be better today than I was yesterday. So that’s the approach to life that I now take. I’m more patient, loving, caring, understanding, & empathetic and I don’t take ANYTHING for granted anymore. Obviously these changes didn’t occur overnight and I’m still working on them on a daily basis. This way of thinking keeps me in line to strive to just be that better person each & every day. At this point it has become apparent to many of my family members & friends that this change is occurring. As I said earlier, I didn’t expect to find this “depth” on a keto recipe KZbin channel but I have and I’m so thankful that I have. I’ve become much more spiritual and aware of the beauty of nature, others, & other things that surround us on a daily basis but we just take for granted or are otherwise too busy to notice. This in itself is a beautiful thing. Well, enough from me I just wanted to let you know that yours is the first KZbin channel that I’ve come across to address all of these issues. To me it’s actually quite amazing how God allows us to find others & things by opening our eyes. Thank you for all that you do and sharing your life’s journey, both past & current, with us. I truly find you and the content of your channel super-inspiring. Thanks again & you’re welcome for me watching.😂

One time before keto, I was in a dark place and felt very empty inside. I grew up in a Christian home and like you it was more ritual prayer. The day I was in the dark Cyndi down and looked out into the darkness and whisper God do you love me. All of a sudden I heard a yes and it was not a voice, but a thought that was not my own that startled me. Since than it has happened many times. I’m grateful for the many moments that have made me who i am today.

Steve - thanks for this video. You are SO right when you say all three aspects (emotional, spiritual, and physical) have to be in alignment to achieve and maintain health and, if needed, weight loss. I was in a similar place seven years ago and lost 80+ pounds (on a non-keto diet), and have been maintaining that (now using Keto as my lifestyle) since. But, it wasn't until my mind and spirit were in the right place that I could begin that journey. I think it is a very important message for all your viewers and while many of us come here for your recipes and fun videos, it's great to get to know your story "behind the scenes." Thanks again.

I think I have never felt so related to someone which si radically different from me. I am a 28yo from Mexico I have watched several videos of your channel and I have gone trough some of the hardship you have. Lost my faith and found it back, lost weight and improved my health. I know I am younger and people just say you don't know about life problems yet. the last 2 years of my life were terrible. I was kicked out of my startup by a hostile takeover, my mom needed an open heartsurgery and I had some health issues myself, grandpa died. This was just so much in a short period of time that took me to me knees. There in the bottom after almost a decade of considering myself agnostic/atheist God showed his face to me in a very particular way one that only I could understand. I remember during the hardest part of this 2 year crisis I was just like you sometimes praying for him to end my suffering, but I was so wrong life is so beautiful even with the pain and hardship. Thank you so much for making this series, Steve! I've said it before; I'll say it again: You are DEFINITELY helping people out there who are suffering from obesity, diabetes, high BP, heart disease, etc! Just as Penn Jillettte inspired you to change the trajectory of your life, I'm sure that you are doing the same for someone else. Strangers helping strangers... Regarding the subject of your faith and spirituality, there's no need to justify any of it. As far as I'm concerned, you can share as much or as little as you think is relevant. I'm not especially religious, but I do go to Overeaters Anonymous meetings, and much of the meetings are focused on "Higher Power" and "handing it over the God." My point is, our relationship with a Higher Power (as we understand it) is one of the pillars of recovery. It's not JUST about the food.

Your experience with Penn reminds me of the movie "Amadeus" (and the real life rivalry between Mozart and Salieri). For whatever reason, God gifted this profane (raised Catholic) little man with the inspiration to create, the apex of which may be his Great Mass in C Minor (K 427) ... unworldly. Even as a musician (cellist) having performed this piece many times, I am in awe. Sometimes even the most unappealing, unlikely characters bring us messages and glimpses of a higher power, whatever, whomever it may be, to nudge, cajole, and sometimes deliver us to where we are meant to be - if we're willing to experience things and feel, with an open mind, and an open heart. Just found your channel; thank you, much!

There is some elusive reason why I can not lose a substantial amount of the weight I need to lose. I'm missing something and everything you have said so far rings true for me. What I found works for me is to not "punish" myself when my thoughts wander during meditation. Instead, I try to recognize as quickly as possible that my thoughts are wondering and then put them in a bucket -- like "that was a thought about work" or "that was the emotion of disappointment". By categorizing it, you can disassociate yourself from it. Then you move back to your meditation. The crazy thing when I'm doing Headspace is that the time my mind is the most empty and clear is the point in the meditation where I'm told "just let your mind be free now and let it go wherever it wants." That's when my mind just goes still.

On spirituality... I am not Christian but I respect the personal nature of belief and thus I find wisdom in almost every spiritual or religious belief. There are a lot of similarities and differences, with the former being larger in both number and scope, the latter being mostly in trivialities, ritual or traditions. You believe, you pray, enough said. My experience is that when you ask for a sign... you often get "hit over the head" with the signs you missed up to then, but suddenly you recognise them for what they mean to you personally. Your story tells me your belief is 100% real, and so I honour your attitude.

I am a recovering Evangelical and am now a Student of Ancient Religions and Spiritual Traditions. This is my favorite thing! I, too, would consider myself pretty eclectic. And I love hearing about other people's spiritual journeys! If God can speak from Balaam's Ass (look it up!), He can speak thru an Atheist! That is a testament to how powerful a Force God is! Bless you and Thank God you were lead to the methods that would end up making your life better!

Ha! Recovering Evangelical! Recovering Lutheran/Pentecostal here! Learned about the unique history of the KJV Bible. That led me to mid acts dispensation teaching. Now I understand how the Bible can have so many seemingly contradictions and yet be Gods perfect word! God bless u on your search for Truth.

Thank you. And Wow--serendipity abounds with your message, even though it's 2 years old. I too bought that calendar on sale in February! Similarly, I also just came to the realization that my fear of changing was less than my fear of changing.

I feel the same way about "Father".... and that came about when I questioned, truly questioned, why things in my past happened and out loud even asked.."Do I need counseling? Am I worthy to be loved?" ( so much rejection in my childhood and life as an adult).. And I literally "heard" the answer... "I sent my Son to die for you knowing all about you..sooo.. you are precious to me.. accept my love and see your worth through my eyes!!" That changed everything.. I have a Father that loves me..

I’m late to this, but: THANK YOU!!! This is beautiful and is strengthening my faith at a time I need it most. Your approach to your relationship with God and spirituality is like mine-Christian with a healthy dash of Eastern meditation and wisdom. Most importantly, an openness to God and all the good that God brings ❤

Speaking of ignoring nudges, I have prayed to God for help with weight loss off and on for years. In the last year I kept randomly bumping into Butter Bob videos and then one day I paid attention. I lost 20 lbs my first month and 30 lbs my first 8 weeks.

@@texastea5686 I'm 53 down but have had some setbacks. Basically just staying in the same area, weight-wise which is better than gaining. The stress of the lockdown kind of threw me off, then in early December I got COVID which threw me off and gave me carb cravings and I was eating all kinds of junk for a week plus as my appetite was messed up. I'm okay just getting back track. Thanks for asking. Hope things are well with you and yours.

Thanks for the spiritual part of your life. My dad was a preacher. All my life. I never not knew God. My husband is catholic or was I am not. Two different lives but we both love God!!! I need to pray more. I get lazy. He (dad) died in February 18’. He is missed but he was very judgmental. To the point I feel free. Not to sin or be bad but not feel so bad about who I am. I believe God directs us. We need to watch and listen. Ty Steve!! ❤️🙏🏼

It can take you out of a deep black hole or bring you back down to earth, depending who you are. But when we find that spiritual spark we can carry the light thru any human experience. It needs to be renewed also. But the joy, pure joy, is worth the adventure. Garbleygook to some.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Being of a similar spiritual bend i totally dig where you're coming from here. It frightens me now and then to think how much an influence Penn has been on me. He has even helped me be more vocal about my witness for Christ. He's fun and I have heard God speak to me through him more than once.

Steve, Your personal videos have so moved me. 30 years ago, I began meditating. It changed my life. I began to see and hear all the cues I had previously missed; the astounding synchronicity of being. It enabled me to more clearly see my journey through this Rubik's Cube path of life. But now, it's been about a decade since I regularly meditated. Thanks to this video and your heart-felt words, that's about to change.

Thank you Steve for sharing this part of your journey with us. Our spiritual emotional journey is so important and not to be ignored. I have really been suffering with anxiety lately and I loved the part where you talked about your faith or your fear.. which is stronger? I was really convicted about that. My fear has been overtaking me....keeping me awake all night long.I think I will pray more for Gods guidance in my life and also try out that app. You are extremely brave to share your journey with all of us! I can’t wait for the next part of your story. I think you are just awesome!
