Thanks for sharing your story. I am so sorry you experienced this. I had a traumatic birth as well. Went in for an induced VBAC and ended up with a complete ruptured uterus after 30 hours of labor. Had to be rushed to OR and baby wasn’t breathing when he was born. He was fine within 5 minutes but it was so scary. Doctor finished the c-section and lost roughly 1 liter of blood. Then went to recovery and got to hold my baby until my blood pressure tanked and I started hemorrhaging. They couldn’t control the bleeding and lost another 2 liters of blood. Had to be rushed back to general OR for an emergency hysterectomy and it turns out when the uterus ruptured it also ruptured one of the arteries to the uterus. I ended up losing 8 liters in total of blood and woke up in the ICU 24 hours later. Thanks so much for sharing your story. I have found it healing to llisten to other birth stories like yours.

I'm a retired ICU RN - and yes, ICU nurses are weird!! Lol!! I also had an emergency C Section with my first. I was also past 42 weeks pregnant and had to be induced. The epidural I had wasn't placed right - I felt every single contraction for 10 hours! They finally rushed me into the OR when the baby's heart rate went to 50/minute and had fetal distress. They layed me down on the cold steel table, and the OB immediately started to make the first incision into my lower belly - and I screamed "OUCH!!! I FEEL THAT!!". Then the OB shouted "knock her out!! The next thing I remember was waking up in the OR. Never got to see my baby son until the next morning at 9am. He was born 9lbs 4oz. He had a conehead from trying to pass the birth canal unsuccessfully. I felt like a mak truck ran over me 10 times! I was SO exhausted! But thank God baby and mom were ok!

I’m so so sorry you had such a terrible experience. We’re about the same age and I just had a baby 4 months ago and had a partial placenta abruption and hemorrhage. Never been more scared in my life. I hope you find healing! I’m going in to hopefully be diagnosed with autism and/or adhd tomorrow morning, finally, as a woman of 36. Keep me in prayer and I will also keep you in prayer!

I’m sorry that you experienced this. My daughter, also, had a similar nightmare delivery. She was only 38 weeks and was told she should be induced because the baby wasn’t doing well, in reality, he was. It seemed that her labor was similar to yours, yet they gave her Ambien so she could sleep and rest for awhile after about 36 hours of labor. Her husband and I were with her the whole time, she did wonderfully during labor, it wasn’t until they started messing with her that things went wrong, after they broke her water. They kept saying that that she needs a c section and after hours of laboring and the epidural stopped working. They took her in the OR, but she requested to be put under as she couldn’t take anymore, so her husband nor I was in the OR with her. Her OB wasn’t on call so it was another OB who performed the surgery. The baby was delivered and very healthy but, my daughter was not, the doctor cut into an artery and she lost more than 1/2 her blood, the OB stitched her up, didn’t notice all the bleeding, and in recovery they figured out something was wrong so they made her sign something where a hysterectomy may be needed to save her life, she was in agony from all of this and really wasn’t present enough to sign anything, and they took her back into surgery. The OB finally figured out, oops she nicked her artery and stitched her back up and sent her to radiology to cauterize the artery. 3 surgeries later and she was taken to ICU without meeting her son, and with an arm so swollen and purple from the IV bursting into all of her arm muscles. I stayed with her in ICU for almost 3 days, because, I knew what a hospital was like at night when you are alone and I didn’t want her to be alone, her husband was with the baby. I was so afraid that she would die, by this point that I never left her except to use the restroom down a hall. She had 7 transfusions, and it was the anesthesiologist who caused the vein to explode, and I watched everyone and everything at this point. In the end, she is finally recovering after 5 weeks, two of which she was in the hospital. I’ve never had doctor phobia until now, and am so grateful to G-d that I didn’t lose her.

I just ran across this video today. When I had my first child(my daughter) I was only 15 years old. I had to have a c- section because she was a footling breach. I had almost the same experience experience of dieing. During my C section I started hemorrhaging I had lost 4 3/4 liters of blood . They had no explanation why, my placenta was perfect they said. My age could of played a factor they said. I was in the ICU for 1 week and total hospital stay 3 weeks. They had told my parents to start making funeral arrangements. Some how by the grace of God I pulled through. My daughter was perfect and I went on to have 2 more babies( also by C Section) whom were perfectly healthy and I was also. C sections are no joke and they are NOT the easy way out. I'm glad you turned out good and your baby girl is healthy also.

Here where I live they never let anyone go up to 42 weeks or even further, they say it's too dangerous for both, mother and baby, because placenta can stop working properly after that. 41 weeks is max. And then they even gave you medicine that can cause placenta abruption, at 42 weeks, uhhh... I'm so sorry to listen to your story but I'm also glad that both of you made it! I was also shocked, we obviously have very different arrangements, birthing centers here are also hospitals as well and I can't imagine that that could even be divided... Wow!

My sister had the same medication with her son and her daughter. When she had her 1st baby (son) she had a placental abruption and he was born with his umbilical cord deatched from her placenta. She had to have an emergency D&C in the delivery room. With her daughter, she was bleeding a lot before she gave birth. She had a partial placental abruption. Her daughter came out with a mouthful of bloodclots, bloodclots wrapped around her feet and wrapped around her umbilical cord.

Thank you for sharing your very painful traumatic birth story, but you are still a warrior . You are a great lady. I have at least 2 grandchildren with autism, one is 25, from my first daughter, other is 12 from 2nd daughter. There are 3 other children undiagnosed at this time. Sending this to them.

So sorry you went through that. You are so strong and should be so proud of yourself. 💜 I think because it was an emergency c- section, your recovery was worse then it should have been. Plus everything else your body went through. I have had 3 c-sections. The first was an emergency and I also wasn't with my son for the first 26 hours. He was in the NICU for a few hours but with me, i had to stay in the labour and delivery ward and a nurse had to be with me at all times in my room. She wasnt allowed to leave my side for even a second in that first 26 hours after having him. Recovery was hell. My next two c-sections were a lot easier to recover from. The third one I was out at a store with my mom and sister to pick a few things up five days afterward.

First I want to say I’m very sorry this happened to you. I also want to say that MISOPROSTOL is used to abort! I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks but my baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. I had not gone to the doctor yet, but if they had detected the loss of my baby lets say at around 9 weeks, they would've suggested Misoprostol to induce me into contractions and force my body to expel the contents of my uterus. I don't want to make further assumptions, but I know this drug is VERY hard on the body. Many women that use it to release a lost baby in early weeks of pregnancy, experience horrible pain and blood loss. I WOULD NEVER TRUST MISOPROSTOL IN LABOR!!!

I think when people are referring to a c section being easier are referring to planned csection that has no complications. Not an emergency where you almost died

My son would go down into the birth canal. And when it was time he just stop going any further so they too him out with forceps. 15 hours no epidural.

Wow…..😯 What do you think of my mother who birthed me by being gassed and the Dr. Took me out with forceps. She didn’t participate at all. It’s a miracle… I’m curious what you think…

Hi there. I'm a L&D RN with 30 years of experience. I am so sorry that your experience was so horrific, however for you to say that anyone who says recovery from a C-Section is easier than vaginal delivery is FUCKING STUPID!Is a very self-centered and ignorant statement! C-Sections save lives, both Mom and baby's. I had 2 C-Sections at age 30 and 33, I was out of the hospital a little less than 2 days in both cases. I was going up and down the spiral staircase the day I got home, so it was a bteeze for me. Tell your story but don't make assumptions on how someone else is going to do, especially by cursing and calling them deragatory names. I have witnessed horrendous complications with vaginal deliveries from vaginal tears that split open the rectum on more than 1 occassion, hemorrhages, mom's dying from throwing an embolus from amniotic fluid while pushing, babies getting stuck in pelvis and yanked out with forceps causing major cranial bleeds, the list goes on.

I’m having my first c section next month and my hospital has recently changed its protocol. So they only give NSAIDS and or Tylenol during and after surgery. I’ve never had a c section but with my vaginal deliveries I can’t imagine doing it without pain medicine. Do you have any tips on dealing with the pain & uncomfortability in the OR? I have ASD and sensory issues as well 🤍🙏

I had a C-section too many years ago… They also didn’t give me any pain meds…. My recovery took 6 months to walk straight up! My daughter was born on Sunday. I came home on Thursday. By Monday I was back teaching. ( At home, tutoring and teaching music.) THAT was crazy. Don’t do what I did!!! Take the rest, don’t lift a finger except your baby. Work can wait…… It took me 3 years to plan another baby, I was so …traumatized ❤sending you love

After my c section they gave me an IV medication which wore off gradually overnight and then said I would be offered some oxycodone (endone) in tablet form but no nurse ever attended me the whole first 24 hours so I was lucky I had some stashed in my bag from home (I have had lots of kidney stone episodes so I usually have some leftovers) It's not allowed to bring your own but I don't trust the hospital since having this happen before. Had this happen so many times so I came prepared. I'm going to pack them again this time when I go in for my csection in a few weeks just in case. I'm going to a different hospital this time so hopefully I will receive much better care this time. My first birth experience was traumatic and the aftercare was non existent (left holding my baby while paralysed the entire night alone after 3 day sleepless days and nights of failed inductions and surgery) but wasn't allowed to go home for 4 days anyway. It only took about 2 days not to need the strong medication anymore.
