Finally, the KZbin algorithms recommend me something informative. I've been in the market of getting a new laptop this year (My 5 year old $300 laptop needs to retire), but I'm definitely trying not to spend no more than $1k! It's definitely hard deciding what I want to get as there's so many laptops out there with so many different specs. As an artist and a gamer I just want something that can properly run my programs, and these seem like great suggestions!

​@@triliner254 I got it for my sister, but this is what I got from testing it. She doesn't have any complaints and happy to have something portable and not die in a hour. Only complaints I have are 1) it comes with a USB-C charger even though it has a barrel plug on the laptop, making the USB-C unusable while plugged in. 2) Touchpad is kinda clicky even when you tap lightly and I feel my finger doesn't glide smoothly. 3) Included stylus is not the best and has a hard tip, feels like dragging a pen on a window. Fan noise isn't too loud like a gaming laptop but it is there. Light workloads like web browsing and office products don't turn on the fan or slightly on. Fans did turn on when playing Minecraft, and when installing office and adobe acrobat.

I have been running Ubuntu Linux on a Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 for three years now, using it for web surfing and software development. It cost less than $300 and has a very nice matte display with 3:2 aspect ratio and 2736 by 1834 pixels. The CPU is slow, there's only 6 GB of RAM, and the keyboard and trackpad are only OK. But there's no fan and storage can be upgraded with a SATA m.2 card. Please consider reviewing more very inexpensive Chinese products. There really are some bargains out there.

I just don't feel like right now is a good time to buy laptops tbh. It seems like the best bet is to wait until early-mid next year, when presumably more manufacturers might've jumped on the AMD bandwagon (seen as it was too late last year, they were already committed to intel before the 4000 series benchmarks started surfacing). Honestly early - mid next year seems like it'll be a great year for more monster laptops with AMD closer to the $900-$1300 price range. Right now there's just far too many overpriced, underperforming intel based laptops... the Dell XPS are just absurd amounts of money that show Dell really aren't in touch with consumers at all, & any laptop with an intel chip is like £300 or more extra, for lesser performance than the AMD 4800H series and up.

@@theinktician pretty much Plus there seems to be too many annoying problems with a lot of laptops to where the perfect configuration or close to doesn't exist right now. The Dell XPS lineup have amazing screens, good build quality, but no number pad, shit performance given the price and then obviously the price itself is a huge barrier. Same goes for the razor blade, great build, but stupid intel underperforming cpus and then absolutely absurd dumb pricing. Asus seen to be the only guys really making quality machines at a lower price point, but even their laptops come with issues whether it's the way they're directing hot air flows, or again no number pad, or just somewhat shoddy build quality on some areas. I'm hoping there will be a bunch of manufacturers making AMD versions of their good laptops. An AMD razor blade would be great

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 14, with 16 gb ram, 10th gen intel core i5 - G4 model, iris pro plus G4 graphics. it's quite alright, but I do watch the temperatures of the processor and I do not stress it too much. After Effects works flawlessly with basic Quad HD footage editing. 3DS Max is alright. Photoshop runs perfectly. I'll try other software such as Blender soon. Oh and the Battery life for basic tasks ( Microsoft Office ) is a dream. Basically 10 hours plus. I paid about 3400 RON ( 700 EUROS ) for it. In Romania the VAT ( Value added tax is ridiculously high )

I've had my latitude e6400 atg for 5 years. Only problem with it is the screen as the adhesive on the inside of the screen is failing. It's a defect. Still works today, but I want something lighter and with more processing power

hi i need help!! i'm looking for a creator/ casual gaming laptop but under 1.5kg (because uni student lmao). i know ryzen 4000 series is really good and popular right now but i can't seem to find one under SGD$2000 with a discrete gpu. i've also looked at lenovo's laptops (and dell, asus, hp, msi) but even though the price performance is appealing, to me, the aesthetics are god awful :/ so i've narrowed it down to acer swift 3x (11th gen i7, iris xe max 4gb) and acer aspire 5 (11th gen i7, mx350 2gb). i'm leaning towards swift 3x even though its about $500 more expensive because i'm somehow really excited by what intel has to offer with the deep link tech (11th gen paired with xe max). so here's my dilemma. these are extremely new laptops (like not even released globally yet kind of new), so there's practically no english review of these laptops. that means i have nothing but the spec list and engineering sample reviews to go off on, soooo i could just be throwing my money (SGD$2000) into something that has shit thermals and overhyped performance. should i still go with it? if not any other suggestion

That combination between the high Performance (even with Rosetta it's faster than Intel models), incredible high AND consistent Battery Life, snappyness is so unique, a competition doesn't even exist here.
