Nice setup. I’ve noticed a lot of people are using regular tool boxes for their work just because it’s cheaper and I’m for it. I do the same. That Comica mic is very interesting and for years I’ve always wondered if someone will make something like that. I’ve been keeping my eye on it.

Yeah I agree! I think that's the way to go! The tool cases are great. So far the Comica has been good so far but I really need to use it on more shoots. Im waiting for deity to come out with something and then I will probably upgrade to that.

That's a really nice sound cart. And the fact that there's a shotgun mic that can record 32 bit float audio is insane!

Yeeesssss!!! Toolboxes!! Stackpack, StackTech, Packout, Toughbuilt, etc! I've been researching these modular tool carts for a few months. Dewalt just came out with their DXL 2.0 system which is 30 inches wide and comes with a top tray that includes a handle.

Yeah man, I love all the modular toolbox options! It's so much more efficient! I just wish the Milwaukee stuff came in a different color. I love all the accessories. I just couldn't do the red.

Sound is another beast. I started doing talking head videos and some b-roll. But when I got asked to do a wedding and started thinking about how I would handle audio…. Well that was my first step into the audio world. One of which I had no idea how many different types of solutions there were available depending on my scenario. I was blown away by things such as time code and wireless vs recorders such as the tentacle track-e. Love that you are using a tool cart such as the flex. I was eyeing the Milwaukee but felt the red color stood out too much.

Yeah audio can be a huge rabbit hole, but it's so important! Glad you like the cart, I was worried about the red too standing out so much. That's why I went with the flex But the Milwaukee has WAY more accessories.

I love that film devices boom pole I have been using it for a few years now for corporate and doc style work. It’s really great when you don’t need to be super wide. Im tempted to get the comica mic but think I should get the sennheiser MKH50 first just to cover my bases.

Black Friday deals triggered me to order essentially the same FLEX Stack Pack rig... awaiting delivery now. Since the system is modular, I added the organizer boxes with clear plastic tops. I'll use these for lavs and all the gak that goes with them, plus I keep a small selection of cosmetic products - towelettes, powders, and brushes - to reduce talent skin shine. Finally, I added the FLEX wood worktop surface in place of the side shelf opted for here. These additional Stack Pack components were almost all discounted for Black Friday on Amazon, and their small size and easy stacking will make configuration of the rig very flexible according to the requirements of different productions.

I know what you mean man! I still feel a little unqualified for audio mixing on some shoots. Still a little out of my wheel house but I love learning. Im using another set of Deity Theos units for camera hops. They work great as IEMS as well and have volume control. Thanks for watching!

I've yet to transition to timecode yet (can't afford it yet) and using a wagon still going to a cart. Using a Clapper board. My question I'm tossed between the Tentacle and Deity, seems you have a mix of both Did you go with deity because to the TC-Sl1 or other reasons and do you have any issues jamming between mixed brands. Love your cart set up. Great video thanks
@JoelGabrielsen
@JoelGabrielsen Ай бұрын
I really like the Tentacle system for timecode. The app is better and the internal batteries last longer. I plan on keeping them separate. Tentacle for timecode and deity for wireless audio.

Why on earth did you align the antennas parallel to each other?
@AndersBakfeldt
@AndersBakfeldt Ай бұрын
Where are they supposed to be pointed? Newbie here, but I assume the two transmitters were placed next to each other?
@frubo_ssg
@frubo_ssg Ай бұрын
@@AndersBakfeldt Haha - I still remember a bit from school and my studies. But yesterday, I also attended a full-day RF workshop for sound engineers, organized and conducted by Ambient Recording and Sound Devices. Indoors it might be less importtant due to the reflections. But still there are different reasons why you should postion them e.g. in a 90° angle, specially when you are in a free field environment (outdoors). When using two receiver antennas for a wireless audio link, the antennas should not be aligned parallel to each other. An optimal setup involves positioning the two antennas at an angle to each other (often around 90 degrees). One reason ist Diversity Reception: Many wireless audio transmitters and receivers use antenna diversity, where two antennas are used to receive the same signal. By orienting the antennas differently, you reduce the likelihood that both will experience signal fading at the same time. Another are different polarizations: In practice, the signal can be deflected by reflections and obstacles, arriving at the receiver with various polarizations (horizontal and vertical). Differently oriented antennas help capture these varying polarizations more effectively. And I should mention less interference: By aligning the antennas in different directions, you reduce the risk of interference, as both antennas won’t be following the exact same signal path with identical sources of interference. A positive effect bringt to maintain distance: In addition to adjusting the angle, it’s often beneficial to place the antennas at least half a wavelength apart for the frequency range in use, to minimize mutual interference. May be this helps.
