Congratulations, Dan, so exciting that you finally got it all working. Getting a DCT working in something like this is a huge accomplishment.

I'm truly delighted to see you driving the car and especially being able to share the experience with your family. I'm still some way off having mine finished, but you're an inspiration as always. Looking forward to seeing the finished clam back on. I think your ducting to the airbox is brilliant.

I’ve mostly watched your episodes dealing with electronics and programming so I missed the rear clam clearance mods. You did an amazing job on that! I’ve been I to Ultimas for 25 years and never seen something like that. Beautiful! Very unique.

Thanks so much! It was definitely something I needed to do out of necessity since the engine is so tall. It wasn’t part of my original build plan and certainly a stressful decision, but turned out better than I thought. Great example of turning lemons into lemonade. 😁. Thanks again for your kind words! 🙏

Awesome Dan! I’ve followed from the first episode and have been looking forward to seeing the end result of your amazing build. How you have tackled each step has been eye opening, especially the electronics. That’s another world. I can only imagine how you feel. Enjoy the fruits of your work. Roger

One thing I am stunned about, is just how time flew, near five years. Hard to comprehend. I've been here since day one, I had no idea it was that long. Of course excited to see and hear it move. I hope the tranny is a simple software fix. All buttoned up and tested will be the next hurdle and compared to everything else, a piece of cake. Great to watch it go.

Awesome job as usual Dan. Really is a awesome build… one of the best on KZbin, even compared to professional shops work. Tip when cutting composites like the clam shell have a shop vac nozzle taped down near where you are cutting. Safe for you and means you can see where you are working, and easier clean up afterwards 👍

So happy for you Dan, started watching your videos after you were already pretty far through the build, Those dang Vw mechs love to get stuck in second gear when not programmed, Also after unlocking and performing transmission adaptation, after its finish, make sure you shut the engine off and turn it back on, If you do an adaptation then go straight to driving it will still only have 2 gears without a key cycle

Adding a mess grill under the fender vents will stop you damage the vents and body work from rocks on the road… plus less likely to launch a rock at following vehicles 👍

Drill a hole in the corner to cut to. Use a large enough bit to create a decent radius. Spot face bits are great for this, they have a tip that runs in a pilot hole and create a smooth hole.

Looking good! From what I hear those transmissions have a limp mode that locks in if there is any discrepancy between road speed engine rpm and shift command. If a signal is missing or wrong you may never get it out of second gear

What a huge achievement Dan. You have one of the best Ultimas on the planet! One question, what your key, to motivate you to get it done to this standard? Fabulous job

Dan, maybe I missed it, but the 4s mechatronic that’s in it now does NOT have an immobilizer correct - it was an early enough version?
@DanDulacКүн бұрын
Turns out it does have immobilizer BUT as far as I can tell, it’s not active. I believe since we coded out ECM immo, it’s not transmitting immo signal(s) to trans so trans is not activating its own immo. Reverse engineering these communication dependencies has been very tricky! Once we UNLOCK the new mech, we’ll see what happens. 🙏

Hi Dan, The build looks incredible, you obviously have well honed skills in many areas to make this drive train look and work like you have. Congratulations. Did you consider RCR superlite as an alternative. I have also dreamt of building on of those.

Love this build. 🥰. Awesome car. Where did you get the waffle exhaust heat schields ? Where did you get the hatch latches that go flat when closed. Thanks. ☺️
@DanDulacКүн бұрын
Thanks! The heat shields were made using DEI “floor and tunnel shield” and mishimoto embossed aluminum heat shield: simply stick the two together then cut/shape however you want. Works very well. The latches are from Aerocatch (model 120-4000). Hope this helps!

I printed them with fiberglass infused PETG...I've carbon skinned a lot of parts with this filament and it works great. No issues that I've found yet!
