If anyone's interested, I found the company that made the coat. It is Slovakian and it was established in early 1930s. After the Czechoslovak comunist coup d'état in 1948 it was nationalized and had been the largest clothes manufacturing company of the Eastern Bloc in 1950s and 60s. After 1973 they only made men's fashion. And if I understand it correctly, it is still in business :)

Btw, re: smelly pits! I still haven't had the chance to try it myself but someone on Instagram recently suggested to: 1. soak pits in vinegar, let sit for a few hours then rinse thoroughly 2. If that's not enough baking soda applied on wet pits (after rinsing the vinegar out) let it dry for several hours, the scrape off and rinse 3. Then wash by hand with mild detergent Maybe worth a try?

I live in Queensland Australia and I drool over full length coats but in reality a coat would get very little wear from me because it just doesn’t get cold here. I mean it’s supposed to get down to 2 degrees this winter and that’s a record cold winter. Since I’m a fan of the 40s I’m kinda always at a loss for nice summer things. I do like pastels but I also like forest greens and rust reds and navy blues

I wash my stinky stuff with white vinegar in the bleach or the fabric softener dispenser. It works every time. I used it on towels I left in the washer too long that got mildew smell in it. Trust me, try it! It also works if your clothes keep "bleeding" like the Freddie's of Pinewood blue dye. That will keep them from getting ink on your other clothes. But you need to wash Freddie's a few times with white vinegar to achieve it. Thanks for the video, as always I loved it!

I really like the clothes you showed and one of the main reasons are the sleeves. I have a thing for sleeves, they make you look elegant and they are so confortable and flattering. They used to beautiful sleeves back in the day. The 40s were amazing.

About the sweat smell, try this: 1) If you have a bathtub turn on the hot water until it is half full, close the door and leave the coat hanging in the middle of the steam for awhile 2) Use a steam iron 3) Reverse the coat and leave it under direct sunlight for about some hours (I have had success with this method)

I don't care about what's "spring" colours or "winter" colours, I just wear whatever makes me feel comfy and is suitable for the wheather. That usually means wintercolours... I used to have a lot of clothes that I didn't wear, but thougth I could alter, but never actually did something about. Now the problem is a little bit smaller (partly because I have got rid off some of the clothes I knew that I wouldn't wear anyway) as I have a separate place were I store clothes that need to be repaird or altered. Then I remeber to actually do something about the clothes and they don't dissapear deep inside the closet.

My mom is a costumer for theater and she always uses this trick! Especially with vintage and 1800/1700/1600s clothes since they're more difficult to wash or since certain items can't be washed without damaging them. Vodka in a spray bottle works like a charm. If you're worried about a smell (which it really doesn't, it actually neutralizes odors), just dilute it with a bit of water.

I have a tip for you on how to take the armpit smell from clothes. You just need pure lemon juice and baking soda. Mix both until you have a creamy paste... then put it on the armpit area and leave ot for 24h. Then you wash the clothes as usually... for me and my family it works like nothing else. Love your videos!

Super cute! I especially love the black-and-white striped skirt and chartreuse dress. For the smelly coat, you can try hanging it in the sun. For the too-short b&w striped pants with matching shirt, have you considered adding a black band to the cuffs? Fix those back closures so you can wear the skirts!! You could do snaps if you don’t like dealing with hooks and eyes (they are indeed a pain to stitch down).

@Karolina: About the coat at the end: it says "Odevné závody Trenčín" so it´s definitely Slovak from the Trenčín Clothing Plant company. They closed in 2007 I think. (Started in 1940´s or something like that.)

Okay here's how to get rid of literally any stench in clothing. Find the cheapest, worst quality, most terrible bottom shelf vodka you possibly can. The kind that isn't fit for human consumption and might as well be paint thinner. Mix that with water in a 50-50 ratio, and put it in a spray bottle. Spray generously on the stinky areas (and the rest of the garment for good measure if you wanna get rid of the secondhand store smell (tm), and hang it up to air overnight. In the morning, all stench will have vanished, and since the vodka is clear, nothing will stain. That's how we keep our costumes wearable between Saturdays and Sundays at the Renaissance Faire, and I will swear by it til the day I die. Only issue is maybe silk, not sure it's okay to get silk wet.

I get your reservations about off-the-shoulder blouses, but I think tying a light kerchief/apaszkę round your neck helps it looking less in-your-face. Probably simply because it covers some skin and the effect is it's no longer excess. Idk I feel like this vintage look is worth it.
