We is visually impaired and blind people need to get together who protest. We need to start standing up and sticking up for ourselves. I'm so sick and tired being smacked right in the face all the time. They Stonewall us every chance they get. Enough is enough we need to fight back against walls!!! He he he he

Hi thank you for this video. I totally get you on the cane training. My parents tried to put me through when I was eight years old, and I hated it and didn’t want anything to do with it. And now that I’m 19 I just restarted taking orientation and mobility training. And I really wish I would’ve taken to it 11 years ago. And definitely you have to stay on top of them for them to get back to you a lot of times. I know in North Carolina where I am, it’s fairly easy to get in with the independent living counselor. But there’s about a three or four month wait on the orientation and mobility counselor because she has seven County she covers. And even though I have already worked with her a couple times, it still takes me a long Time to get back in touch with her.

Even though you could have learned it when you were younger you're still young today that's going to help you more down the road. I’ll have to be honest. Your story with the association sounds a heck of a lot like my story with my local organization. They’ve been nothing but incredible for me. I got assistive technology training from them and am currently getting O&M training from them and I’m also currently attending a support group.

It is always good to keep yourself busy. Let me ask you a question, did you get right in when you called or did it take some effort? I only ask this question because most of the comments I get we're pretty negative when it comes to the actual help in their state. It made me feel like I had just got lucky. From what I hear they call but no one ever returns their calls. Has this happened to you? Thank you Juan and hope to hear from you again soon.

@@myvisuallyimpairedlife5674 I actually got right in. My brother had suggested I contact them but I hesitated at first because I thought I didn't need them and was also hesitant. Later on however I contacted them on my own and it was a smooth process after that.

I'm so glad your association for the blind has been able to help you so much. The one here I live sucks I've been contacting them for months and still no help. I'm figuring it out on my own and with some help from all my new KZbin friends and there great videos. Even my eye Dr has contacted them and still nothing. I understand your trouble with level changes I trip on curbs and miss steps when going down stairs. Love your video your always so honest in everything you do and say.

I hear from a lot of people that they're having the same issue with the association's in their state. This is a pity. Perhaps I don't have as many visually impaired or blind people in my state. And it is just easier for them. Or maybe they have you on a list because they are so overwhelmed but they did not tell you about it. Who knows. All I can tell you is just do not give up I keep trying. Eventually they will give in. I too agree with you about KZbin and friends on this platform. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about my visual impairment and how to feel somewhat normal KZbin was the first thing that set me on my path. I will admit that KZbin and all of you my friends, Plus my family are the reason I got out of depression. And that is the truth. This KZbin thing has changed my life for the better. Hi Vinnie, this was another fantastic video! Your ability to cover so much material with no notes or having the luxury of referring to visual cues, is amazing. I am sure that you were a wonderful recipient to work with because you were so eager to participate. Many times, sudden slight loss affects The motivation to do anything because it is such a difficult issue to adjust to many people take a very long time, coming to grips with excepting a new way to do almost everything you do. I find that that adjustment, Or difficult adjustment, stands in the way of getting dire, needed training. This doesn’t seem to be the case with you and you present all of this information so well to your viewers. Great video!

Thank you so much for the awesome comment once again. The truth is if I did not find the association for the Blind by accident I probably would have never contacted them. At least not for a long while. But I am glad I did so far. They have not failed me yet. I am very blessed for some of the great opportunities that if fallen in front of me since my visual impairment. Anyting I deal with that's positive I want to send it everybody else's way. I hope all your friends in the east are all okay. My prayers go out to you and your friends. And everybody else in Alabama.

It is so unfortunate that many people did not make it through this horrendous storm. I do have a question do you have another Vincent, Vinny Grasso in your family? @@bamablind9916 I am the only one. I have a brother named Frankie another name Jesse a brother named Elliot and then me. I have a lot of sisters too. I have a sister named Lori, a sister named Lisa, a sister named Julie, a sister named Maria. As you can tell we are all Sicilian except for my brother Elliot my sister Julie. They have a different dad. He was Irish. My sister Maria was Greek but she's been in my life since I was very very little six months old. So I consider her always my true sister just like the rest. My brother Elliot and my sister Julie were always the craziest of the bunch. I think that's because they're half Irish half Sicilian. LOL If you don't mind me asking why do you ask this question? Is it because of the other Vincent Grasso on KZbin. I was going to change my name of my channel because of this. I have no clue who that person is. But everybody got to know me by my name so I've been weary of changing it. I did want to make it my visually impaired life.

I know my question about another Vinny Grasso, might sound unusual but my husband actually worked with a guy named Vinny Grasso in New Jersey mini mini years ago. I think they both were in their late teens and together my husband and this other then he Grasso delivered auto parts to gas stations and mechanic shops. Just find it kind of ironic!

@@bamablind9916 if you want ironic I'm going to tell you this.... Before I was a sewing machine mechanic I delivered Auto Parts. I would drive from New Hampshire to Gloucester Massachusetts twice a day. Gloucester Mass and Rockport Mass very beautiful as they are beaches untouched. There was always sites to be seen. But I would work from 7 in the morning and not get home till nine 9:30 at night. It was taking its toll on me so then I left to live in the country and become a sewing machine mechanic. So if I did have an older brother or cousin with the same name it could have coincided. My family bloodline runs from Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I think it's funny how small the world can be at times. Who knows maybe I was related to that guy your husband worked with. I'm sure if we were to meet in future in person my family and yours we would all get along just fine your husband and I probably would become good friends. Have a blessed week
